SEAT BELTS DO NOT RETRACT WITHOUT HELP

Seats1 injured
Filed Oct 18, 2022TN

We were driving down the interstate, and the active head restraint deployed for no reason. I was in the passenger seat. It hit me hard in the back of the head. I didn’t know what had happened. It felt like we had been hit by a car. I can’t imagine this happening if you were in the drivers seat! This is so dangerous! I am having head/neck issues now! I have an appointment with Dodge to inspect my headrest this week. I have been scared to drive my car. I’m worried the drivers side will do the same! I had no idea this could even happen until I researched afterwards. I saw that others have had this happen to them too.Dodge needs to recall these headrests!

While traveling east upon Illinois Route 62 at an estimated speed of 50 mph without warning the driver’s side active head rest (AHR) activated and deployed striking the driver in the back of the head causing a minor headache. At this time, the active head rest is available for examination and the local Dodge Dealer will be notified for assistance with the repair. Since the incident just occurred, the active head rest has not yet been inspected. Prior to the active head rest being deployed there was no warning lights or messages. Fortunately, there was no reported traffic accidents or other injuries reported.

The passenger headrest exploded/ ruptured when the car was turned on. The headrest is unusable, during detonation of the failed part it can and will startle the person in the seat and or cause damage to them. We will be taking it to the dealership for further evaluation.

Engine
Filed Sep 7, 2022NC

The engine was making a loud clicking noise as soon as I started it up. I towed it to the dealer (Sports Durst) and the diagnostic said the engine needs rebuilding. The SUV has only 80.041 miles on it and the engine has deteriorated is a common problem with this mileage. There are comments all over the internet about the Hemi 5.7 engine failing around 80,000 miles. I should not have to pay to repair an engine this is already defective when it leaves the factory.

Service airbag system, service antilock brakes, service transmission, service shifter suddenly appear. Ater pulling over and turning it off the car went dead. Just spent $1500 for a new computer and two days later I have service airbag system. I have videos of the chaos. If this car is in an accident the airbags will not go off and passengers will be unprotected. The electrical issues in this car are beyond comprehension. Chrysler needs to take responsibility before it causes a catastrophic injury. The behavior of this vehicle is unacceptable and unsafe.

The front passenger active headrest restraint deployed randomly, without cause. It appears the hinges inside that hold it closed developed cracks and failed, allowing it to deploy. Yes, it is available for inspection upon request. It smacked the passenger in the back of the head fairly hard and caused a distraction for everyone in the car as it was sudden and loud. The vehicle has not been taken in for service, I will replace the part on my own. No one has inspected the headrest. There were no warnings of any sort before this happened.

Without warning, the Driver-seat active head restraint (AHR Head Rest) deployed WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY nearly resulting in an accident. There were no sudden stops, sudden movements of the vehicle, nor were there any bumps or pot-holes; I was simply driving down the highway. It's like a punch to the back of the head, while driving, creating an extremely unsafe situation, especially in heavy traffic. Vehicle has not yet been inspected.

The long rear tailgate lamp (called the CHMSL) suffers from water intrusion which results in LED failure. This is a reoccurring issue. I am now trying to get this lamp replaced for the 4th or 5th time (yes, I've lost track because it's ridiculous!) Dodge should do a recall and hold the lighting manufacturer accountable as it is a common problem over many years of vehicles. Why should the consumer be burdened with having to replace this lamp every 1-2 years?? Lighting is a safety feature! Failure of LED's is a safety failure. This is an automatic recall so why hasn't a recall been issued?? Nothing on the vehicle system tells you the LED's are out. This affects visibility and can lead to accident, injury or death.

Wife coming home from work around midnight on 03/24/2022. 2014 Durango suddenly started to not respond to throttle, and dash showed low voltage and stop running. After jumpstarting Durango shows only 10v on display and confirmed with voltmeter at alternator. entered my vin for recalls and it shows none open. She had just turned off major a major 4 lane state hwy and that is when it died. If it had died in middle of turn she would have been in a major accident. Durango was driven at 10 mph due to engine derating, with no light on and all acc turned off made it home lucky to have only been 1 mile from home and on neighborhood street. Inspection will have to be done at my home, Durango will not start. Cant afford tow bill I am on Disability and a fixed income. Low voltage light came on just as she crossed two lanes of traffic and stared on neighborhood street. This car is used to take me to doctors appointments at my Heart Specialist, wife to work and daily driver. Durango has 153000 miles. This is the first time it has happened

My 2014 Dodge Durango SXT RWD alternator stopped working. Was on the way home on 03/24/2022 that night and was driving on 4 lane state hwy. when all of a sudden it started to cut out and the low voltage light appeared on display. I had no choice but to stop in the turning lane right before it quit running. Tried to restart and it just clicked, and dash display disappeared. Had to engage park override and manually push Durango across two lanes of oncoming traffic, luckily two men stopped to help me push it and helped stop traffic so we would not have to stop when we got it rolling. once we had it on side street I tried to restart once again, and it just clicked. Used a battery booster box to jumpstart it and with box on it would run, with box taken off it would run till battery lost voltage and engine will stop running. Luck I was only about 2 miles from my home and the men who stopped and helped pull me the rest of the way home using a tow strap. The Durango is in my driveway and will not start and run to take anywhere to be diagnosed. Dodge told me if the vin didn't show a recall, I'd have to pay the tow bill up front and if it did turn out to be a defective alternator, I can send the tow bill in for reimbursement. (I am Disabled and can't afford a tow truck to tow it 15 miles to nearest dealership.) The only time any warning lamps came on was just before it stopped running as I was getting in turn lane. Durango has run fine Purchased 01/19/2022 and second owner and have put

The moonroof of the car spontaneously exploded as we were driving down the interstate. There was no incident that caused this...nothing struck our car, we did not go over any bumps or anything like that. There was a very loud explosion sound and the glass shattered into hundreds of pieces. Thank god we had the sunshade closed at the time. Our children were riding in the second row and would have had glass fly at them at 75 miles an hour. It was an incredibly scary incident. We looked this up and it seems to be a known problem with many cars with moonroofs, yet no one seems to be doing anything about it. This glass needs to be tempered like the windshield! We are in the process of getting it repaired at the dealership yet. They are not taking any responsibility for it being a defect and are charging us the full amount to have it replaced. $1600. I

Randomly car will flash shifter issue, brake issues, no bus, and many others. Wipers will then turn on and will go off by beeping horn. Then dash goes black. Sometimes during these frequent episodes transmission won’t shift out of low gear. Turn car off and it’s dead. Randomly restarts and acts normal for a bit. A month ago fuel pump went and paid $800 to repair. Been happening for a year. Today car is dead in driveway but randomly wipers began moving. Beep horn turns wipers off. This car is not right. NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
