2023 Coachmen Pursuit

Defect. Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Coachmen Catalina, Cross Trail, Pursuit, Sportscoach, East to West Della Terra, Silver Lake, Forest River Forester, FR3, Sunseeker, Wildwood, 2022 Coachmen Adrenaline, Apex, Brookstone, Chaparral, Chapparral Lite, Clipper, Freedom Express, Independence Trail, Mirada, Spirit, Viking, Work and Play, East to West Ahara, Tandara, Forest River Aurora, Cardinal, Cedar Creek, Cherokee, Flagstaff, Georgetown, Ibex, Impression, Ozark, Puma, R-Pod, Rockwood, Sabre, Salem, Sandpiper, Sandstorm, Shockwave, Sierra, Solera, Stealth, Stealth Evo, Surveyor, Vengeance, Vibe, Wildcat, XLR Toyhauler, Prime Time Avenger, Crusader, Lacrosse, Sanibel, Tracer, Shasta Oasis, and Phoenix fifth wheel and travel trailers. The electric retractable awning has a welded seam on the fabric that may separate, potentially allowing the awning to drop beyond normal operation.

Risk. An awning that drops or extends beyond normal operation can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the fabric roll or complete awning, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 17, 2022. Owners may contact the customer service numbers listed in the recall report for their designated model. Forest River's number for this recall is 51-1532. This recall supersedes and expands NHTSA recall number 22V-486.

The parking brake cable was too tight as described in Ford SSM-51050. We travelled 200 miles each way to an RV dealer to repair and paid out of pocket. Ford instructed us to take the vehicle to a certified repair shop to fix since there is no Ford dealer in Washington state that would work on this chassis issue. The repair shop fixed the parking brake cable and it is now in working order. I requested Ford reimburse us for this repair ($434.00) and they have ignored every request. This was an issue from the day purchased in June 2025 and we continually tried to find help to fix it. We were never informed of the SSM-51050 until I found it online after we had paid for the repair. This was an ongoing problem not one specific incident.

This is a 2023 Coachmen Pursuit Class A RV MFG by Forest River I was driving at night on I-95N in southern Georgia. Light rain. My speed was 10 mph below posted speed limit. After going over some highway bumps I was hit/bumped in the head. Next I notice my view of the road is slowly going away from the top down. I have maybe 18” remaining above the dash to see the road. This is when I notice it’s the overhead fold down bunk above the drivers seat. I pull it back and up to clear my view. Holding it as high as I can with one arm and the steering wheel with the other. I am unable to pull over because of shoulder construction or stop because of traffic. After screaming for my wife who was asleep with noise canceling headsets she comes up to the front and pushes it back into its latches. Again a few more bumps and it drops again. This happened three times before I could leave the highway at a rest stop. It took several bungees and some props to keep it up and vigilance to get to our destination. I have put some bungees and tye wraps on latches for our return trip home.
