The headrest came apart while car was parked and turned off. If the driver was behind the wheel when this happen, there is a good possibality it may have cause the driver to have an accident. The car have been to a service center to check about replacing it. There was no warning before the headrest came apart. It is my understanding that Chrysler knew about the defect but I have not received a recall notice. It seem this part is expensive to replace and I don't see that it is my place to lay out the money. Can Chrysler be held accountable?

This summer our driver’s side sliding door stopped working. It will not open manually or with the buttons in the car or on the remote. Around the same time, the lock on the passenger side sliding door started to buzz every time it unlocked. This weekend, the passenger side sliding door became stuck closed as well. Neither door is functional. I have a child in a 5 point harness that must be in one of the middle seats. It is very difficult to get her in and out. In the case of an emergency, we would be struggling to get the 4 kids out of the back. I see that you are doing an investigation, so I wanted to be sure and report the problem. We have not pursued a repair yet as it is not in our budget.

Likely transmission pump failure or torque converter failure. Mileage is approximately 69,000. This is the second failure with same symptoms. Transmission slips out of gear, whines, clicks. Whining goes away when placed in neutral. After transmission slipped check engine light came on, no prior indication this was going to occur. Safety jeopardized on this occassion as we were pulling out of driveway located on blind curve when transmission failed. No collision occurred, but no action could've been taken to avoid collision if a vehicle come around curve. Was towed to Moore Ford Hartford Kentucky where the first repair was made. There was a known recall on 2015-2016 chrysler town and country for this problem. Dates of Manufacture: JUL 30, 2015 to APR 17, 2016 Manufacturer Recall Number: S44 NHTSA Campaign ID: 16V461000 Unsure if this unit was included in recall, but with this being second failure during our ownership I believe it deserve attention.

Greetings, My name is [XXX], age 27. I am a young single mother of two children, and as I felt like I was truly blessed to get any car that would be reliable to take me to work. Unfortunately, I was leased a 2016 Chrysler Town Country vehicle, as I still owe $11,000 after making monthly payments of $367.00 since May 13th, 2021., with a $4,200 payment down. What I thought was a blessing for my situation, but in reality it was a predatorial loan in disguises from The Contra Costa County, public Auto Auction. As I only had this car for 5 months, I am now seeming to be extremely frustrated that I am being charged $500.00 to get my car serviced, as Chrysler Dealership is the only reliable source to service this vehicle due to the complication of their being a specific machine to add transmission fluid into the transmission. There is a check engine light exact for my transmission sensors, but it actually needs to be changed immediately. Due to my financial hardship that COIVD has caused me as a young single mother, I am unable to pay for this unknown excessive charge for the proper service. This is causing a huge delay within trying to get this problem fixed before the transmission ends up blowing out on me. I was also informed that I would not be eligible to get a rental in return for the amount of days that It will take to get an appointment at a Chrysler Dealership. Please have a supervisor contact me immediately regarding this concern, this is causing a serious matter. My conta

The driver side rear sliding door has stopped working. You cannot get it to open manually or through the push of a button. We have tried pushing the button beside the door panel itself, pushing the button in the front by the windshield (where the buttons for the other doors are located and working fine), tried opening it manually from within the vehicle, and manually from outside of the vehicle. It will not budge.

The sliding door lock actuators are faulty and will not allow the door to open even manually. This is a huge issue in the event of an emergency to get children out of the back of the car.

The second row, sliding doors have always made a buzzing sound when closing. Last year the driver's side sliding door stopped making the buzzing sound and a light would come on while driving down the road indicating a door was open, then the door became inoperable and the motor had to be replaced. Now the passenger side sliding door is doing the same thing and looks like it may have to be replaced as well.

The sliding door behind the driver's seat will not open. It is an automatic door that can also be opened manually. I'm unable to open the door at this time. This is a safety issue because it is preventing exit from the vehicle. The light on the button to open that sliding door is not working as well. There have been no other indications as to why this is not working properly.

Transmission pump has faulted and no longer works. Has caused damage to the transmission. A private mechanic (not dealership) has confirmed this. Vehicle has 75k miles on it. No warning lamps. When the pump went out it cause erratic acceleration and poor take off from a stop. There is a previous recall for this year of vehicle, but for some reason my vehicle is not covered. The driver side sliding door is stuck in the locked position and will not unlock using the key fob, the door locks on the front doors, the manual door lock on the door itself, or by pulling on the handle to open the door. This door will not open at all and is a very dangerous safety hazard if we were to be involved in an accident or have a vehicle fire and the door cannot be opened. There is no warning notice or error given thru the vehicle's message center on the dash.

My Town and Country had its transmission fail. It ran good for about two miles or so and did it again. I stopped into a Chy dealership and they said it was the solenoid in the transmission. They said they had problems with this on other town and country vans. My van only has 72000 miles on it.

Early 2021 the driver's side sliding door would not open from the outside or from the inside. At this time the passenger side sliding door was working. In May 2021 I took it to an independent service facility. They replaced the door latch assembly and checked the wiring. The door then opened and closed inconsistently. I took it back and this time It worked by using the key fob, the door button and the above dash button; but when opening it manually it did not slide on its own. Also at this time the passenger side door stayed in an unlocked position and could be opened when all doors were supposed to be locked. Sometimes the door alarm would go off when it was opened this way and sometimes it didn't. At this point I took it to the dealership (7-29-2021). I was told the prior service center used a Mopar part and they would put it under warranty and replace it but I would be charged for labor. The passenger side door latch assembly would also have to be replaced, bringing the total to over $1,900. Estimated date of completion is 8-3-2021. This is definitely a safety problem since the door could not be opened from the inside and passengers in the back would not be able to open it under an emergency situation.

My van only has 59,400 miles on it. We were on vacation stopped at a stoplight, when the light turned green, I stepped on the gas pedal, the engine would rev up and there was a high pitched sound, and then the van would jerk forward. The van exhibited difficulty with shifting. No warning lights came on before this incident, only after the van started to exhibit difficulty shifting. Codes noted: P0734-Gear Ratio Error in 4th P0868-Line Pressure Low P0745-Gear Ratio Error in 5th P083B-LC Pressure switch rationality P1790- Fault Immediately After Shift P0944-Loss of hydraulic Pump Prime I had to have my van towed to a Chrysler dealership they noted that the transmission fluid pump line pressure was only getting to 25 psi and loud whine from pump. Debris noted in the pan. Transmission was replaced with reman due to debris in the pan and replaced trans cooler and flushed transmission lines. Had I kept driving my van, it could have easily stalled in an intersection. If that would have happened, my family could have easily been hit by on-coming traffic. There is a recall S44 for 2016 Chrysler Town and Country Vans for this exact thing happening to the transmission. I do not understand why my van is not included in the recall. My van only has 59,400 miles, this should not happen.

On 3 July 2021 the driver side rear sliding door became inoperable. The door would not open using either the electronic motor or by manually pulling the handle and sliding the door. The door lock appeared to be jammed in the locked position and could not be unlocked either electronically or manually. Not being able to open the rear door in any manner is unsafe and in the event of an accident would not allow access or egress to passengers in the rear of the vehicle. I had an independent ASE Certified Master Mechanic asses the issue. The only way to get the door open was to remove the door panel from the inside and manually push the lock actuator back into the correct position. Upon further inspection and testing it was noted that flipping the child safety lock back and forth several times seemed to have reset the actuator and the lock and door has worked correctly since.

The passenger sliding door becomes permanently locked preventing you from opening the door, from the outside or manually, to access your children. Fortunately for us we were not in an accident when this happened and I was able to use the other door. This is a very common issue for the Town and Country vans and there needs to be a recall on the door actuators used before someones child is prevented from exiting a vehicle in an emergency. I am having the door repaired by West Richland automotive and they have confirmed a faulty actuator. There were not any warning lamps or messages prior to the door locking itself.

I was on my way home to Georgia from Ohio when before I got to Asheville NC my car started making a funny noise and had been doing so for about 30 minutes and it was starting to have a hard time shifting. The check engine light did come on but I was trying to look for gas also because it was the week there was a gas shortage going on and I was less than a quarter of a tank when I started to look for gas and the vehicle started acting up. Manage to find gas and my dad who is 81 looked but could not really see anything and we managed to make it to the exit where we were suppose to meet my dad's cousin for dinner and meet him for the first time and my dad seeing him for the first time in over 53 years. I barely got it to the gas station and he came and got us and we went to eat. I called my husband and him and my sister drove about three hours to get us and my husband to look at the car. I had gotten a hotel room for us (my mom and dad, granddaugher and I). My husband looked at it and was researching it while on the way up to Asheville. He drove around the parking lot and then he attempted to drive it to the hotel which was on the other side of the interstate and not even a half mile away and we barely got there and said he can't drive it home. It was not even shifting manually into the gears . NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
