2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 complaints

I was driving and my truck just lost all power and my steering wheel locked up as I was turning. Lights turned off. This lasted for about 3 to 5 seconds. Then it turned back on. Then later in the day it happened in a drive through as I was leaving except it would not start back up. This should not be happening especially for a truck with only 53000 miles.

My vehicle started displaying a stabilitrak warning, gauge lights dimming, hard steering, and the ac turning off when I would push the brake pedal while driving. 15 miles later, while making a left hand turn, my vehicle shut off completely which caused a loss of power steering. I was able to avoid an accident as the vehicle did restart. Prior to this incident, I have taken the vehicle in twice to Chevrolet dealerships to diagnose this issue. Both times they stated they could not duplicate the issue so nothing was done. This seems to be a common issue for many 2014 Chevrolet Silverado owners.

Electronic power steering suddenly fails as low speeds, low speed turning, and backing up. Often occurs after dash lights flicker and stabilitrak warning comes up on dash monitor. Causes dangerous situations in parking lots trying to navigate around other cars. This is the second occurrence since purchasing the vehicle. I had it fixed once through a software fix. The problem has returned a year and a half later.

The vehicle has experienced dash and screen flickering while driving. When stopped and making turns the engine shuts off and the steering is locked. The whole dash goes blank. The engine is not able to restart or click. Anit-theft warning comes on for no reason. I feel there is a safety issue when driving this vehicle but no recalls have been placed. I don't feel safe driving my babies in the car.

Make a left turn and lose all power the truck just dies in may or may not start right back up

Vehicle losses electric power steering specially at low speeds tends to jump to the right side or locks the steering wheel possibly accident if it continues. There are recalls on most trucks like mine but it seems that my truck is not in the list and it should be this is a real safety issue I believe that I report it to you before.

My vehicle lost the ability to apply brakes or slow down, the vehicle had a rock hard peddle at low speed. There was no illuminated light on the dashboard no warning! I barely avoided a collision and scraped my truck driving off the road to try and stop it. The issue is worst at lower RPM!

My 2014 Chevy Silverado crew cab 1500 has started to vibrate. It’s like it comes and goes sometime. I was driving down the highway and something didn’t feel right so I thought it was the road surface that was making my truck feel that way. I then was driving on a newly resurfaced road an it was feeling the same like I had a flat tire. The tires were ok. It had this vibration.

Multiple GM vehicles have an error with the traction control system that they cannot diagnose and continuously dismiss to cover their mistakes. Many makes and models report warnings to Service Stabilitrak and Service Breaks along with numerous other warnings. After the warning, drivers are experiencing power failure, locking steering wheels, wrecks, exponential costs for investigations, and temporary fixes. GM will not release any information on investigations into this matter. GM Technicians can not adequately diagnose the issue and will say there is a grounding problem, Traction Control module needs to be reset, replace the battery, and many other bogus repairs to temporarily fix the problem. How many people will have to experience these mechanical errors that can cause serious wrecks or fatalities before NHTSA or GM will investigate? All GM owners should be absolutely disappointed and disgusted with the response from the safety measures put in place to "protect us."

Paint adhesion issues. Paint flaking. Upon internet research, these issues are common with this body style truck.

Service Sabilitrack warning will appear and not that the vehicle will have limited steering capabilities. Then while driving 75 miles an hour on the highway merging lanes the steering wheel locked completely and unable to move it at all. Not an issue with power steering but an actual locking of the wheel. Happened multiple other times in parking lots. Was addressed and fixed by Chevrolet dealership, but now issue is back after the truck failed a state inspection and the tech reset the computer.

2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. CONSUMER STATED THAT DURING AN AUTOMIOBILE ACCIDENT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONSUMER STATED DUE TO THE AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOYING, THE DRIVERS HEAD STRUCK THE STEERING WHEEL. THE DRIVER WAS KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS AND SUSTAINED A CONTUSION AND BRUSING ON THE FOREHEAD. THE VEHICLE HAD FRONT-END DAMAGE AND THE FRAME WAS BENT. THE CONSUMER WAS UNSURE IF THE AIRBAG RECALL REPAIR WAS COMPLETED. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE VEHICLES REPAIRS, RENTAL CAR, INSURANCE DEDUCTIBLE AND OTHER DAMAGES.

The vehicle wobbles really bad while driving at high speeds. I have heard of a lot of other people having this same issue. Please look into it. Thank you.

My 2014 Silverado had a hose leak in 2018. Three years later I have the exact same issue. It’s a refrigerant leak. It has not been inspected this time around because it’s clear that this will be an ongoing expensive problem that I cannot afford. It’s in the 100’s out here and even hotter in a vehicle. My family and are getting sick from heat exhaustion I need immediate relief, please.

Transmission Light comes on to say cut engine off, if not done quickly, just dies. It can cut off at any time. I just purchased truck and took it to the chevrolet dealer they told me this year make and model has had a lot of transmission issues that the torque converter fails inside the transmission and they want 6000.00 to fix it, I have not had the truck 60 days

The vehicle will intermittently start to have electrical glitches such as loss of electric power steering, A/C and radio shutting off, stabilitrack shutting off and engine shutoff. I've heard there is a known ground issue with this model and its can be dangerous when moving if you lose steering control and engine control. This has happened multiple times the most recent was 6/28/2021

PAINT PEELING OFF CAB.

Towing 16ft stock trailer with 2 calves- Turning Left onto another 2 lane road which was downhill, Engine shut off during turn, power steering went out, had truck brakes pressed to floor, trailer brakes didn't react. Took everything I had to turn the steering wheel to keep from going off embankment on both sides of road. Finally got stopped when road flattened out. Thank goodness no oncoming vehicle!!! Message on dash to roll up drivers side window. Truck restarted! Truck only has 60100 miles. What is going on with this truck? I could have injured myself or someone else? Brake padel still rock hard at low speeds even after the so called fix for this issue that GM did for the previous recall

Started leaking gas from the back side of the motor.

At low speed the power brakes no longer work. The brake pedal has to be pushed to the floor in order to stop. The pedal does not return to its original position and remains soft/spongy and pushed in. Almost caused an accident when this was first discovered.

Problem first started about 6 weeks ago. slowing down making a turn my truck would shut down without any warning. once turning left in a four lane highway. once turning into Mc Donalds jumping curb and several other times. took into dealership for a recall told them about problem. they put analizer on it showing nothing. it has shut down several times since and a light on my truck finanally came on saying it was the trucks thief deterrent system. i will be taking this into my dealership again this morning but feel you should be aware of this problem as all control of truck was loss when turning into oncoming traffic.

My 2014 chevy silverado when backing down boat ramp break pedal will go all the way to the floor. I almost lost my whole truck an boat. This just started . I have little over 33 thousand miles on truck.

Having issues where steering will lock up while driving at slow speeds. Air conditioner will stop radio will go out will get a message about stabalink and driving assist may have stopped. Will be like this for a few minutes and then I get control again. Also while driving on the highway I notice this to

Issue first noticed when backing into a parking spot, at low speeds, when I turn the wheel I look power steering abilitiy and have to fight to turn the wheel. At the same time I have issues with the electrical system...radio cuts off/on, stabitrack warning, doors unlock then lock, ac cuts off/on. After this happening very randomly for a few months it has progressively gotten worse. Most recently I was turning left on a busy street and the same above mentioned things happened, stalling me out in the middle of the street. I was luckly not to get hit due to a couple defensive drives able to avoid me. I have already hadthe Safety Recall fixed (#17276), however its the same exact symptoms as the recall.

My truck has developed a radiator leak after 39930 miles. I see from reading on the Internet this is a very common problem with this year of truck. Chevrolet even has a recall to replace the radiator but says my truck is not included. The recall notice is #15829. This ends up being a very expensive repair. I have been quoted $1428.00 by a Chevrolet dealer to replace radiator.

I CHOSE A USED 2014 CHEVY SILVERADO WITH 180K MILES. I MET MY SALESPERSON, BERNARD, ON SITE AT PUGMIRE FORD, IN CARROLLTON, GA. WHEN I TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE, THE TRUCK HAD OFF ROAD TIRES, SO I REQUESTED THAT PUGMIRE PUT REGULAR TIRES ON THE TRUCK BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION. THEY AGREED AND THE TRUCK WAS DELIVERED A FEW DAYS LATER. SOON AFTER DELIVERY, I NOTICED A SOFT NOISE SEEMINGLY COMING FROM THE ENGINE. I INFORMED MY SALESPERSON BERNARD OF THE ISSUE. HE ASKED ME TO BRING THE TRUCK BACK FOR REVIEW. I DID & BERNARD TOLD ME 'IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE EXHAUST SO DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. IT WILL GO AWAY AFTER A FEW DRIVECYCLES'. I DIDN'T BELIEVE HIM SO I HAD THE OBD CHECKED, THAT INDICATED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER HAD FAILED. I SENT THE DOCUMENT TO BERNARD, THEN I ASKED IF THE VEHICLE HAD A RECENT EMISSIONS INSPECTION, HE SAID HE DIDN'T KNOW. HE APOLOGIZED, BUT STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. AT THIS POINT, I REMINDED BERNARD 1. IT IS ILLEGAL TO SELL A VEHICLE THAT CANNOT PASS EMISSIONS 2. THAT MY BANK HAD NOT YET MAILED THE CHECK. WITH THAT MIND, PUGMIRE FORD FINALLY AGREED TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. SO I AGREED TO AUTHORIZE MY BANK TO SEND THE CHECK. PUGMIRE HAD ARRANGED FOR THE TRUCK TO BE FIXED AT G&S AUTO AND THEY PAID FOR THE WORK. BUT AFTER REPAIR, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT RETURNED. SO I TOOK IT BACK TO G&S TO ASK WHY. THAT'S WHEN THEY DETERMINED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER HAD FAILED DUE TO INTERNAL

VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS. ALSO POWER STEERING WILL COME ON AND OFF DURING TURNS. HAPPENS OFTEN. THEN A MESSEGE POPS UP ON DASH TO LOWER THAN PUT UP DRIVE SIDE WINDOW. THIS HAPPENS WITHOUT ANY WARNING.

VEHICLE STARTS TO SHAKE WHEN DRIVEN ABOVE 70MPH. IF BRAKES ARE APPLIED TO REDUCE SPEEDS FROM 75-70 THE SHAKING SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASES, BUT DECREASES TO THE NORMAL SHAKING ONCE THE BRAKES ARE RELEASED.

1) TRANSMISSION WHEN OUT WHILE DRIVING AT 55 ML PER HOUR, TRUCK ONLY HAD 107,000 MILES HAD TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION MORE LIKE A REBUILD TRANSMISSION FROM THE DEALER. 2) MY AIR CONDITIONER WHEN OUT 9 MONTHS LATER AFTER REPLACING TRANSMISSION, THERE WAS A LEAK ON THE A/C CONDENSER, DEALER REPLACE THE CONDENSER TWO YEARS LATER AIR CONDITIONER WHEN OUT A GAIN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM A/C CONDENSER LEAKING THE CONDENSER THAT DEALER REPLACE. THIS'S NOT COMENT AND I THINK GM NEEDS STEP IN TO THE PLATE AND LOOKED IN TO THIS TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND AIR CONDITIONER CONDENSER LEAKING REFRIGERAN.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON P06DD. INITIALLY IT WAS A OIL INJECTOR THAT NEEDED REPLACING WITHIN THE FIRST 4 YEARS OF PURCHASE OF A NEW TRUCK. WHEN THE CODE COMES ON LATER IT'S THE OIL PUMP. OIL PUMP HAS A PRESSURE SWITCH ON IT THAT SAYS PUMP OIL AT 10 PPM, IF IT GOES AT 7 PPM IT WILL CAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON.THE OIL PRESSURE GOING INTO THE ENGINE AT 7 PPM IS NOT S SERIOUS ISSUE AND SHOULDN'T CAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON.I LIVE IN A STATE COUNTY WHERE YOU CAN'T REGISTER YOUR 1500 TRUCK FOR A NEW VEHICLE REGISTRATION WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON.THE DEALER WANTS TO BILL ME 10 HOURS OF LABOR BECAUSE OF WHERE THE OIL PUMP IS LOCATED INSIDE THE ENGINE.THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE $1,000 FOR THE REPLACEMENT FO THE OIL PUMP AND THE CONNECTED SENSOR.I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A RECALL EFFORT HAPPEN WHICH WILL NOT MAKE THE SENSOR ENACT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FOR SMALL IRREVERENT DISCRETION WITH THE PRESSURE SWITCH.

MY TRANSMISSION FAILED AND I COULDN'T GO OVER 40MPH. THE TRUCK WOULD JUMP AND BOUNCE AND MAKE LOUD SCREECHING NOISES. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS ALL THE TRANSMISSION. I ASKED A FAMILY FRIEND WHO IS A MECHANIC AND HE DIAGNOSED IT. HE CONCLUDED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WASN'T THE ONLY PROBLEM. THE MOTOR WAS HAVING DIFFICULTIES CHANGING FROM V8-V4 ALSO. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MANY PEOPLE THAT I NEED TO GET A TUNER TO DELETE THE COMPUTER PROGRAM THAT CHANGES THE AMOUNT OF CYLINDERS FIRING. I HAVE ALSO SEEN/HEARD TRUCKS THAT GO WITHOUT THE DELETE TOO LONG. ALSO, MY POWER STEERING WILL FAIL AT LOW SPEEDS WHILE TURNING. GM FAILS TO SEE THAT MY TRUCK HAS THIS ISSUE. SAYING IT DOESN'T AFFECT MY VIN.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,507.

I CURRENTLY OWN A 2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO AND HAVE IT IN SHE SHOP BECAUSE THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS BLOWING OUT HOT AIR. UPON THE DEALER INSPECTION THEY DETERMINED A HOLE TO BE IN THE CONDENSER BY THE RADIATOR CAUSING A BIG LEAK.

BRAKING IS HARD. VACUUM PUMP ISSUE. I WAS DRIVING AND PUSHED ON THE BRAKES AND IT WAS VERY HARD

WHEN PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT VEHICLE STEERING FELT JERKY AND THE TRUCK SHUT OFF. ALSO NOTICED A CLUNK WHEN TURNING LEFT AT LOW SPEEDS. EVERYTHING WENT BLANK ON THE RADIO AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. HAD TO RESTART THE TRUCK 2 TIMES TO PULL INTO THE PARKING SPOT.

RADIATOR IS LEAKING ON PASSENGER SIDE. CAUSES COOLING SYSTEM TO FAIL AND ALSO CAUSES COOLING FANS TO RUN EVEN AFTER THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF.

2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 CREW CAB LT. A/C BLOWS HOT AIR A/C CONDENSER IS LEAKING. THIS SEAMS LIKE A COMMON PROBLEM THAT I AND MANY MORE PEOPLE THINK SHOULD BE A RECALL STARTED ON. MY 2014 SIVERODO ONLY HAS 53,000 MILES ON IT AND I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A LOYAL CHEVROLET TRUCK CUSTOMER. THIS VEHICLE IS IN ALL ORIGINAL CONDITION AND HAS NEVER BEEN WRECKED OR REPAIRED.

WHEN I TAKE LOW SPEED TURNS, EITHER GOING FORWARD OR BACKWARDS, THE POWER STEERING STARTS GOING IN AND OUT AND THE RADIO WILL TURN OFF. SOMETIME THE WHOLE VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF OR JUST TURN OFF THEN RIGHT BACK ON. THE STABILITY TRACK MESSEGE POPS UP ON THE DASH. WHEN THIS HAPPENS MY VEHICLE WILL RESET ITSELF.

WHEN I TRY TO USE MY BRAKES THEY FEEL LIKE THERE'S NO PRESSURE AND I HAVE TO PUMP BRAKES REPEATEDLY TO STOP. ALSO FEEL A LITTLE VIBRATION. THIS DOES HAPPEN EVERY TIME. MOSTLY WHEN I'M TRYING TO SLOW DOWN TO PARK IT OR STOP AT A LIGHT.
