We received a letter from General Motors in June of 2023 advising us of the recall associated with our vehicle (airbags that could inflate and kill occupants) and promising to remedy the issue at no charge. However, it has now been 9 months since we received notice and still there are no parts available to fix this issue. It is clear that General Motors is not trying to remedy this matter and simply hoping that people will sell their cars before someone or many people dies from this defect. What is the NHTSA doing about this? We need more than a nice web page - we need you to hold GM accountable. Please get them to fix this issue.

The manufacturer sent a letter dated June 2023 for NHTSA recall 23V334 / GM recall N232404980 involving the potential for explosive rupture of the driver's side front airbag. At the time of issuance, no remedy was yet available and the manufacturer indicated that there would be follow-up communication once a remedy was available. As of the morning of February 19, 2024, both NHTSA's website and the manufacturer's website report that a remedy is still not available. Also, we have received no further communication from the manufacturer for this recall. We will be contacting a local dealer for additional assessment and guidance, but are concerned that the manufacturer has not been more assertive in addressing this recall.

I have received four Recall Notices (dated June 2023, 08/21/2023, 09/19/2023, and 10/17/2023) relative to the Drivers Air Bag Inflator May Explode. I have reached out to the dealer to schedule the free recall repair to no avail. Each time they have informed me that parts are unavailable. It now has been several months since they have not contacted me for repair or resolution. Occasionally, the Service Airbag indicator light of the vehicle comes on. Meanwhile, I continue to drive this vehicle at great risk of injury and death. Request help in getting the manufacturer and dealer to expedite in fixing the problem. Thank you.

I contacted GM and they referred me to file an online complaint with you. We are part of the airbag recall on our 2014 Buick Enclave that can result in serious injury or death. It's now been almost a year since we were notified and there has been no follow up communication or a timeline for which this will be fixed, which is completely unacceptable. This is our teenage daughter's car and we do not feel comfortable with her driving it. We cannot sell the car because no one wants it and we cannot afford another car. The lack of communication from GM is frustrating. I would like someone to communicate what the realistic timeline is for the airbag to be replaced. We even offered to replace it out of our own pocket or just have it removed, which they will not do.

I received a recall notice in June 2023, contacted the local dealer, Donaldson Buick on August 17, 2023. Donaldson Buick, Silsbee, Texas 409-978-8662, told me the recall part was not available. Today, December 20, 2023, I called the Buick Customer Assistance Center, 1-800-521-7300, and spoke with Stephanie in Michigan, again I was told the part was not available. I am [XXX] of age and fear the danger concerning this recall. The Air-Bag if ruptured may cause metal fragments to pass through into the vehicle, which may result in injury or death. Engine reduced, traction control, and stabilitytrak lights came on 11/3/2023. Car died on me while I was sitting in traffic. Took car to Firestone on 11/9. They stated car needed oil change and tune up. On 11/17/2023 while in the line at a drive through lights came on again and car died in drive thru. Car was towed back to Firestone. Firestone said it was pulling codes they didn't know and the car needed to go a Buick dealer. Towed car to Bob Brown Buick on 11/24/2023 Bob brown said car just needed a battery. After one hour the car lights popped on again and car died in the middle of the street. Towed car back to Bob brown another diagnosis was completed and was told I needed a catalyst converter. Towed car to Midas and paid another diagnosis. Midas fixed 3 gaskets and sensors. Car died again driving down the street going 35mph almost causing an accident. This electrical problem is very dangerous and unsafe.

Recieved letter in mail to schedule to airbag recall. I scheduled to have recall replaced. The dealership told me it was available. After leaving vehicle. Dealership advised they don't have the part. They don't know when the part will be available. They part hasnt been available for a year. I advised them. This a an accident waiting to happen. I'm driving a vehicle and the airbag is defected. Myself and kids can be injured at anytime. They had no answer because they don't know when the part will be available. I believe this is uncalled for. The vehicle is paid off and it's in excellent condition.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
