Defect. BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2006-2011 3 Series Sedan (324i, 325i, 325xi, 328i, 328xi, 330i, 330xi, 335i, 335xi), 2006-2012 3 Series Sportswagon (325xi, 328i, 328xi), and 2009-2011 3 Series Sedan (335d) vehicles. The original steering wheel may have been replaced with a sport or M-sport steering wheel equipped with an inflator that can explode during deployment.

Risk. An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and replace the driver's air bag module as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 30, 2024. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2008-2013 128i and 135i Convertibles, 128i, 135i, and M Coupes, 2007-2010 X3 30si and X3 xDrive30i, 2013-2015 X1 sDrive28i, X1 xDrive28i and X1 xDrive35i, 2007-2013 328i, 328i xDrive, 335i, 335is, 335i xDrive and M3 Coupes, 2006-2011 328i, 328xi, 328i xDrive, 325i, 325xi, 330i, 330xi, 335i, 335xi, 335i xDrive and M3, 2009-2011 335D, 2006-2012 325xi, 328i, 328xi and 328i xDrive, 2010-2011 X6 ActiveHybrid, 2007-2013 328i, 335i, 335is, M3 Coupes, X5 30si, X5 xDrive30i, X5 xDrive35i, X5 48i, X5 xDrive48i, X5 xDrive50i and X5 M, 2009-2013 X5 xDrive35d and 2008-2014 X6 xDrive35i, X6 xDrive50i and X6M vehicles equipped with non-desiccated driver frontal air bag inflators containing phase stabilized ammonium nitrate (PSAN) that were used as interim remedy parts for previous Takata recalls. These inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.

Risk. An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.

Remedy. BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver air bag. On X5 and X6 vehicles, only the inflator will be replaced. All repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began March 11, 2020. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

Defect. BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2006-2011 323i, 325i, 325xi, 328i, 328xi, 330i, 330xi, 335i, 335xi and M3, 2007-2011 328i xDrive, 335i xDrive and 335is and 2009-2011 335d vehicles. The wiring and electrical connectors for the system that controls air flow for the heating and air conditioning system may overheat.

Risk. Wiring that overheats could cause the electrical connectors to melt, and increase the risk of a fire, even when the vehicle is unattended.

Remedy. BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the wiring and electrical connectors, free of charge. Interim letters were mailed on November 27, 2017. Owners will receive a second notice when the remedy becomes available. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

Defect. BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2011-2012 135i Coupe, 1 Series M Coupe and 135i Convertible vehicles, 2011 Z4 sDrive 35i, 335i, 335d, 335i Coupe, 335is Coupe, 335i Convertible, 335is Convertible, 535i, 535i xDrive, 535i Gran Turismo and 550i xDrive Gran Turismo vehicles and 2012 740i and 740Li vehicles. The rear driveshaft constant velocity (CV) joint on the affected vehicles may fatigue and break.

Risk. If the CV joint breaks, the vehicle may have a loss of propulsion, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. BMW will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the rear driveshaft CV joint and, based on its production date, will replace it, free of charge. The recall began April 21, 2017. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

Defect. BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain model year 2010-2011 128i Coupe, 128i Convertible, 328i Sedan, 328i xDrive Sedan, 328i Coupe, 328i Convertible, 328i Sports Wagon and Z4 sDrive 30i, 2011-2012 135i Coupe, 135i Convertible, 335i Sedan, X5 xDrive 35i, and X6 xDrive 35i, 2011 335i xDrive Sedan, 335i Coupe, 335i Convertible, 528i Sedan, 535i Sedan, 535i xDrive Sedan, X3 xDrive 28i, and X3 xDrive 35i, 2010 X3 xDrive 30i, and X5 xDrive 30i, 2012 640i Coupe, and 640i Convertible and 2010-2012 535i Gran Turismo vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the bolts that secure the housing for the variable camshaft timing adjustment (VANOS) unit can loosen over time and may possibly break.

Risk. If the bolts loosen or break the engine may have reduced power or stall. An engine stall increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy. BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the four VANOS housing bolts for both VANOS units (intake and exhaust), free of charge. In addition, owners of approximately 170,172 model year 2010-2012 BMW vehicles equipped with inline 6 cylinder engines not covered by this recall, will receive an extended warranty to address this condition. Defect. BMW is recalling certain model year 2008-2012 1-Series coupes and convertibles manufactured December 2007 through September 2011; and 2007-2011 3-Series coupes and convertibles manufactured March 2007 through October 2011; 2007-2011 3-Series sedans manufactured March 2007 through October 2011; 2007-2011 3-Series sports wagons manufactured March 2007 through June 2011; and 2009-2011 Z4 vehicles manufactured March 2009 through June 2011. In February 2013, BMW recalled 504,545 vehicles. In July 2013, BMW informed the agency that it was adding 1-Series, 3-Series, and Z4 vehicles, representing an additional 12,094 vehicles. The total number of vehicles being recalled is now 516,791. The connector for the positive battery cable connector and the corresponding terminal on the fuse box may degrade over time. Over time, the high current flow and heat from electrical resistance may lead to a breakage of the connection, and a loss of electrical power to the vehicle.

Risk. If there is a loss of electrical power to the vehicle, the vehicle may unexpectedly stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the positive battery cable connector and secure it with an improved method, free of charge. The recall began on March 13, 2013. Owners may call BMW at 1-800-525-7417 or email BMW at [email protected].

Defect. BMW IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011 328I XDRIVE AND 335I XDRIVE VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM FEBRUARY 8, 2011, THROUGH JULY 29, 2011. THE FRONT DRIVESHAFT ATTACHMENT BOLTS MAY NOT HAVE BEEN TIGHTENED TO SPECIFICATION. IF THE BOLTS WERE NOT TIGHTENED TO SPECIFICATION, THEY MAY BECOME LOOSE.

Risk. IF THE BOLTS LOOSEN, IT COULD LEAD TO A LOSS OF POWER TO THE FRONT WHEELS AND ULTIMATELY A VEHICLE BREAKDOWN, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy. BMW WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FRONT DRIVESHAFT ATTACHMENT BOLTS FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING OCTOBER 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT BMW CUSTOMER RELATIONS AND SERVICES AT 1-800-525-7417.

The contact owns a 2011 BMW 335I. While driving 50 MPH, the vehicle lost power. The check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle went into LIMP Mode before shutting off. The vehicle was towed back to the residence. The contact connected a diagnostic scanner, which indicated an inability to read or establish engine timing. The engine cranked and turned over for 10 seconds but shut off immediately afterwards. The contact believed that the issue was related to a timing failure. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V707000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.

Fuel sending unit has broken and began to expel fuel out upwards within the rear bottom of the back seat were the sending unit is located. The plastic that ensembles the gas sending unit itself cracks over a certain period amount of time and causes gasoline to spray in that area. Gas has began to accumulate outside the gas tank right above the sending unit part, which causes harmful and incredibly strong gasoline odor inside the car and outside the car, predominantly on the back seat of the driver area. Very dangerous for even a small amount of fire to be near it. The problem cause a harmful and overwhelming amount of dangerous gasoline fumes to tolerate breathing near that area or the car itself.

The contact owns a 2011 BMW 335I. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the "Loss of Oil Pressure" message displayed, and the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle made an abnormally loud clunking sound. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact used an OBD scanner to retrieve a diagnostic trouble code for the VANOS bolts; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V707000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but confirmed that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

Hard to explain. looks like my NIV is ''bad''. There are 11 recalls on BMW 335xi Sedan 2011 and mine has 0 (same car, BUT special limited edition). For now, BMW is of no help at all, they follow their procedure which do not include my NIV in any way $$$. What to do next?

Wiring harness in the engine compartment caught fire about 2 weeks after changing a water pump, battery kept being draining even after battery replacement. Locking of the trunk trunk forced usage of a BMW authorized jump start battery charger/start etc. No access to Battery when the battery is discharged.

I was in the middle of driving on the freeway and my motor started to get loss in power. Moments later a malfunction engine sign popped up. The codes I was able to pull from the vehicle were pointing towards a recall that already exists for BMW but for some reason my vehicle was not a part of the recall. The recall I am reffering to is 23V707000. It shows that there are 11 open recalls for 2011 335i including the vanos bolt recall. I called the dealer and according to my VIN, the vanos bolt recall is not covered. There are multiple reports online where the dealer is refusing to cover the recall for vehicles within a certain production date. There is clearly a safety issue going on as this has happened to plenty of people. Someone with the same motor as I could get covered for the recall due to the production date and I am in a position where BMW knows that this is an issue but will not cover it.

The contact owns a 2011 BMW 335I. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the passenger’s side air bag warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent but became persistent whenever the vehicle was started. The contact had researched and related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin Number: 10148018 - Front Passenger Air Bag Seat Occupancy Sensor (OC3) Mat (Air Bags). The contact was informed by the dealer and the manufacturer that the vehicle was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 103,000.

Transmission failure, while driving 45mph the car automatically downshifted then stopped pulling rolled to a complete stop was able to put into park turn car off then when tried to restart that is when the transmission failure light and notice came on the dash and radio screen. After that the car would not go into any gear or pull in any gear. No warning signs appeared before the incident.

2011 BMW 335i COUPE E92 My vehicle has broken vanos bolts which caused the engine to shut off while driving. This was a terrifying experience in which i was on the freeway doing around 70mph and lost power steering and power brakes. This is a known recall with these vehicles and my vehicle fits the criteria for BMW Recall 23V-707, including year, make, model, production date and engine. My vin does not show up as a recalled vin and the dealer refuses to fix my vehicle for that reason although it is confirmed the vanos bolts have snapped.

The contact owns a 2011 BMW 335I. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle to an independent mechanic for repair, he was informed that the camshaft bolts were damaged and required replacement. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 130,000.

I bought a BMW on November 3rd and within 48 hours on the 5th of November at 6:30 the engine seized while the car was driving when I took it to BMW they did a carfax on it, it said the car had 197,000 miles on it and the car was listed with 97,790 miles and the odometer still says 97,000 and the transmission is also slipping because it had 197,000 miles on it and the font headlights won't work.

BMW has made their early 2011-13 engines(n55) a defective engine, the problem I’ve been experiencing with these engines is there new engine system called the valvetronic system. If the something in the valtronic system goes bad and most likely does when you listen to bmw recommendation of changing oil every 10,000 it becomes very annoying to fix and can also lead to damaging the car ecu/dme so they built a car that would have problems and would also take out your car ecu which would make costly repairs

I have electrical error codes and I cant seem to find what it is not sure if its wiring.

Without any warning, the vehicle experienced a major engine failure while I was driving at about 70 mph on the highway. The vehicle immediately lost power and went into limp mode, making it impossible to safely maintain speed on a busy highway. Vehicle was towed to the dealership and it was determined that it had experienced a VANOS bolts failure on the intake side. Inspection of the failed VANOS bolts revealed that they were of the old design that BMW had issued a Recall for. Even though the Recall status for the vehicle in regard to the VANOS bolts indicates that it was completed, it appears the wrong components had been used in the repair. I have been informed that BMW has denied my request to have the recall done properly with the proper components.

2011 BMW 335i Sedan: Please attempt to get my car included in the current recall. I have contacted BMW USA and my local dealership. Both said that my car does not qualify for repair. On a weekly basis, the car produces large amounts of smoke from the engine compartment and enters the passenger compartment through the vents. BMW has stated that there is a fire risk for this year, make, and model but will not address it for my car: [XXX] The check engine light turns on while engine smokes. The BMW Dealership will not inspect the car unless it appears on the recall list. In addition, occasionally, the entire electrical system dies preventing all electronics including the starter from working. Passenger seat airbag sensor failed at 50,000 miles

I had just parked and about a minute later, there was a huge amount of smoke coming through the front cabin vents and hood. I immediately turned my car off and opened the hood to find more smoke and hearing popping sounds coming from my catalytic converter. The smoke left residue all over my windshield as well as an unpleasant smell lingering in the car. I emailed my local mechanic and he told me this is likely my PCV and not a VCG leak like I thought it was. This problem had scared me from driving my vehicle again because I was worried a fire would start whether I was in the vehicle or not. I took it to my mechanic to get it repaired and was charged $1700 for it. I had no lights or unusual car prior to this happening

Loss of power failure, it lights up several times when turning corners and then accelerating.

The Vano Housing System bolts all broke off and fell into the engine causing sudden failure and stopping of the vehicle causing it to need to be towed. Upon some researched I learned that in 2014 BMW of North America issued a recall for 2010-2011 BMW 3 series (N55 Engine) Models for this exact defect except apparently my VIN was not included. However, clearly my vehicle should have been included because it sustained damage and could have caused me harm by sudden stoppage. The car is currently being looked at by BMW of Rockville, MD and BMW is attempting to skirt responsibility

HELLO, I WANTED TO BRING TO ATTENTION THE FAILING FOOTWELL MODULES IN E9X GENERATION BMWS. THE MODULES HAVE A HIGH FAILURE RATE AND WHEN THEY BECOME INOPERABLE YOU LOSE YOUR HEADLIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS, LOCKING AND UNLOCKING DOORS, POWER WINDOW CONTROL AND THE ABILITY TO MOVE YOUR MIRRORS. IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN THAT BMW HAS HIDDEN FROM ITS CUSTOMERS AS IT IS A KNOWN EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR SUCH AN IMPORTANT COMPONENT. I RECENTLY HAD MY VEHICLE IN TO HAVE IT REPLACED AND WAS DECLINED AS IT HAD NOT FAILED ENOUGH. ESSENTIALLY THEY WANT ME TO HAVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE BEFORE THE REPAIR WILL BE PERFORMED. I DO HAVE DOCUMENTATION THAT THE UNIT IS IN THE EARLY STAGES OF FAILING BUT BMW STILL REFUSES TO HONOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY.

WELL MAINTAINED VEHICLE WITH APPROXIMATELY 81,000 MILES WHEN THE ROD BEARING BROKE. BMW HAS A RECORD OF ROD BEARING FAILURES AND RECALLS. BMW IS NOT HELPING IN MY CASE AND FROM MY RESEARCH THERE HAS BEEN ROD BEARING FAILURES IN THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL AS MINE. I WAS DRIVING WHEN I HEARD KNOCKING IN THE ENGINE. I PULLED OVER, HAD TO BE TOWED AJD BMW SAID THE ROD BEARING WENT. THEY SAID IT JUST WENT. PLENTY OF OIL IN THE ENGINE SO IT WASN'T THAT. I WAS GOING ABOUT 60 MPH WHEN ALL OF THIS HAPPENED

VANOS BOLTS BACKED OUT AFTER RECALL SERVICE REPLACEMENT COMPLETED. VEHICLE WENT INTO SAFE MODE ON THE FREEWAY SUDDENLY.

FRONT PASSENGER INSIDE DOOR HANDLE STARTS TO MELT DURING ANY HOT CONDITION. ONCE MELTING DETERIORATION STARTS, DOOR HANDLE GETS EXTREMELY STICKY AND SOFT (LEAVES A LOT OF UNKNOWN RESIDUE ON ANY PASSENGER HAND) TO ANY HAND TOUCH DURING ANY WEATHER CONDITION (COLD/HOT). DOOR HANDLE UNKNOWN COMPONENTS ARE TOUCHED BY PASSENGERS AND CAN BE UNSAFE IF A KID UNDER 18 EATS THE DOOR HANDLE UNKNOWN COMPONENT'S WHILE INSIDE THE VEHICLE. WHILE IN MOTION ON HIGHWAYS, CITY STREETS, AND TURNING, CERTAIN SYSTEM SOMETIMES LOSE POWER (E.G., RADIO, WINDSHIELD WIPERS WHILE RAINING, STABILITY CONTROL, STABLE BRAKING, CENTER CONSOLE, HEADLIGHTS AT NIGHT). THIS APPEARS TO BE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT OCCURS WHEN AT ANY SPEED CONSTANT OR OTHERWISE. THESE INTERMITTENT FAILURES HAVE BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR WITH 81K MILES. IT NOW HAS 100K MILES.

I AM PERPLEXED THAT NHSTA ALLOWS TIRE MANUFACTURERS TO SELL TIRES WITHOUT WARRANTY. ANY MERCHANDISE SOLD TO PUBLIC HAS AT LEAST 1 YEAR MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY AGAINST DEFECTS IN PARTS, MATERIAL AND WORKMANSHIP BUT NOT TIRES. THE ONLY PART THAT CONNECTS A VEHICLE TO A SURFACE IS A TIRE. THEREFORE, TIRES ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT PIECE OF EQUIPMENT ON A CAR BUT YET MANUFACTURERS CAN SELL TIRES WITHOUT WARRANTING THAT THE TIRES WOULD PERFORM AS THEY ARE INTENDED EVEN WHEN THEY ARE DRIVEN A FEW MILES. BRIDGESTONE RE050A RSC RUN-FLAT TIRES DRIVEN LESS THAN 11000 MILES WITHIN LESS THAN 2 YEARS AND ONE OF THE TIRES HAD ALREADY DEVELOPED A BULGE THE SIZE OF A BANANA. PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED PHOTO OF THE TIRE. THESE TIRES DO NOT HAVE A MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY. NOT BECAUSE THEY ARE OLD BUT BECAUSE THEY HAVE NEVER HAD ONE. IF I DIED AND CAUSED DEATH ON THE ROAD BECAUSE OF THIS FAULT, THIS COMPANY WOULD NOT BE LIABLE. WHY? BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT HELD RESPONSIBLE BY NHSTA OR ANYBODY. THERE IS NOT EVEN A SECTION TO COMPLAIN ABOUT TIRES. THAT'S WHY I HAVE TO PUT THIS COMPLAINT IN THE VEHICLE SECTION. DOES THIS MEAN NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION CARES ABOUT OUR SAFETY? LUCKILY, I CAUGHT THIS BEFORE IT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT OR LIVES. LONG CRANK TIMES TO START THE ENGINE. HAD IT DIAGNOSED BY AN MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WAS FAILING. HE ALSO WAS ABLE TO DETERMINE THAT THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM EXISTED IN YEARS 2007,2008,2009, AND 2010. HE WAS SURE BMW WOULD REPLACE THE PUMP SINCE THOSE YEARS HAD BEEN GRANTED AN EXTENSION ON THAT PART TO 10 YEARS AND 100,000 MILES. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO THE BMW DEALER I WAS INFORMED THAT MY CAR WAS "TOO NEW" AND WOULD NOT BE INCLUDED IN THE WARRANTY EXTENSION. I POINTED OUT THAT WAS CLEARLY THE SAME ISSUE AS THE PREVIOUS FOUR YEARS, BUT THEY SAID NO. I CONTACTED BMW NORTH AMERICA, AND DISCUSSED THE MATTER WITH THEM TO NO AVAIL. I HAD THE FAULTY PUMP REPLACED OUT OF MY OWN FUNDS. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE BUREAU OF AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR IN CALIFORNIA, WHO DID AN INVESTIGATION ON THE COMPLAINT, BUT CLOSED THE MATTER OUT. THEY SUGGESTED I FILE A COMPLAINT WITH YOUR DEPARTMENT IN HOPES THAT EVENTUALLY 2011 MODELS WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE WARRANTY EXTENSION AND I COULD GET SOME SORT OF REFUND ON THE KNOWN FAULTY PUMP. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY WHILE LONG CRANK TIMES WERE NOTED. REPLACING THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP HAS SOLVED THE PROBLEM.

MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH A BAD HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP. AFTER DOING RESEARCH ONLINE I FOUND THAT BMW HAD A RECALL FOR ENGINES N54. I'M HAVING THE SAME EXACT ISSUE AS THE N54, MY ENGINE IS THE N55. MY CAR IS NOT USABLE AND BMW DOES NOT WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS IS ON MY N55 ENGINE. BMW CLEARLY ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THE MANUFACTURING OF THESE HIGH PRESSURE PUMPS WERE BAD THEY SHOULD HAVE A RECALL DONE FOR THE N55. WHAT I AM LOOKING IS FOR BMW TO COVER THIS ISSUE.

I WAS DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT AT ABOUT 5MPH, AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPED ON ITS OWN WHILE I WAS STILL PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR. I CONTINUED TO PRESS THE ACCELERATOR, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. AFTER 3 OR 4 MINUTES OF TRYING TO DETERMINE WHAT THE ISSUE WAS, I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. THE CAR WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE ONCE I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED. IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED WHILE IN TRAFFIC, IT WOULD HAVE PUT MANY PEOPLE AT RISK. NO ONE WAS HARMED BECAUSE I WAS IN A WALMART PARKING LOT TRAVELING AT 5MPH WHEN THE CAR STALLED, BUT I AM UNSURE WHAT CAUSED THIS TO OCCUR. THIS SITUATION SEEMS TO BE RELATED TO THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC ADMINISTRATION'S RECALL NUMBER 14V176000, AS IT DESCRIBES WHAT I EXPERIENCED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE.

I WAS DRIVING WHEN MY CAR IMMEDIATELY SHUT OFF ALMOST CAUSING ME TO GET HIT FROM BEHIND. LUCKILY, THERE WAS A GAS STATION FOR ME TO QUICKLY PULL INTO AND GET OUT OF THE LANE BEFORE COMPLETELY COMING TO A HALT. I'M CONFUSED AS TO WHY THERE ISN'T A RECALL ON THE 3 SERIES. THIS IS CAN CAUSE FATALITIES.

ENGINE SEIZED 10 MILES AFTER OIL FILTER HOUSING GASKET WAS REPLACED. CAR HAS 107K MILES AND HAS BEEN METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED. NOW I'M GOING TO HAVE TO SPEND FROM $8K-$10K FOR A NEW ENGINE. NEVER RECEIVED A WARNING LIGHT. FROM WHAT I'VE BEEN READING, THIS IS NOT UNCOMMON AFTER THAT SPECIFIC JOB IS DONE AND THE GASKET STARTS LEAKING AROUND 100K SO IT IS NECESSARY TO ADDRESS.

THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT INDICATOR GOES ON EVEN THOUGH NO ONE IS SITTING ON THE SEAT.

TENSION STRUT FAILURE (DRIVER SIDE, FRONT); THIS COMPONENT CONTROLS FORE AND AFT MOTION OF THE WHEEL & TIRE. WHEN IT FAILS THE REMAINING FRONT SUSPENSION ASSEMBLY INCLUDING THE WHEEL AND TIRE IMPACT THE WHEEL WELL CAUSING VIOLENT BUCKING AND SHAKING WHICH IS WORSENED WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. MY FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES ON A SMOOTH, PAVED ROAD AT LESS THAN 55 MPH. THE CAR WAS DISABLED AND HAD TO BE TOWED. I BELIEVE THAT HAD I BEEN TRAVELING AT INTERSTATE HIGHWAY SPEEDS I WOULD HAVE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND POSSIBLY OVERTURNED. THIS SHOULD BE A 'NEVER EVENT' IN MY OPINION.

ON 2/5/2016, BMW ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE DRIVER'S FRONT AIR BAG (RECALL CAMPAIGN NO. 16V-071). I WASN'T EVEN NOTIFIED ABOUT THE RECALL! I HAPPENED TO SEE THIS OPEN RECALL IN JULY 2017 AFTER I RECEIVED A RECALL FOR THE REAR DRIVESHAFT CONSTANT VELOCITY JOINT (RECALL CAMPAIGN NO. 17V-067). IT TOOK ALMOST 2 YEARS FOR THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG RECALL TO BE FIXED (IT WAS FINALLY MADE AVAILABLE TO ME IN DECEMBER 2017). WITHIN A FEW MONTHS OF GETTING THE DRIVER'S SIDE FIXED, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG SEAT SENSOR MALFUNCTION LIGHT CAME ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE! I'VE SPOKEN TO BMW'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT & AUTHORIZED BMW MECHANICS REGARDING THE AIR BAG SENSOR MAT FAILING & WAS TOLD IT WAS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. THAT IT WAS SO COMMON, THE WAITING LIST TO REPLACE/FIX THE MALFUNCTION WILL TAKE 1-2 YEARS (OR LONGER). THIS MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN RECALLED ON PREVIOUS BMW MODELS'THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED ON 2011 BMW'S AS IT IS STILL A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE!

IMMEDIATELY AFTER REPLACING THE RECALL FOR THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG, THE LIGHT WARNING CAME ON FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. THIS HAPPENED WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AFTER TAKING IN MY CAR FOR MAINTENANCE AND THE ORIGINAL RECALL.

IN 2017 MY SON WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE 91 HIGHWAY WHEN HIS FRONT DRIVER TIRE ROD BROKE OFF. BOLTS WERE MISSING BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES. TIRES WENT OUT AND IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A TRAGEDY THIS HAPPENED ON A FRIDAY NIGHT. WE PAID TO HAVE THE WHEELS AND TIRES REPAIRED AND REPLACED. I PROVIDE THE RECEIPTS TO THE BMW DEALER SHIP BUT THEY WERE NEVER HONORED OR REIMBURSED. WE PAID TO HAVE WATERPUMP REPLACEMENT BECAUSE. IN JULY 2017 THE AIR CONDITIONING WAS BLOWING HOT AIR. IN NOV. 2017 THE HEATING SYSTEM WAS BLOWING COLD AIR. FEB 2018 BLOWER WAS STILL NOT WORKING, WHEN I FOUND OUT THAT THERE WERE (RECALLS). WE WAITED ALMOST 4 MONTHS FOR RECALLED BLOWER WAS REPLACED, WE PAID FOR THEMOSTRATE REPLACEMENT BUT STILL HAD NO HEAT. CAR WON'T START. SO WE PAID FOR THE BATTERY TO BE TESTED AND REGISTERED. SHORTLY AFTER THE CAR STARTED LEAKING COOLANT AGAIN APRIL 2018. DEFECTED WATER PUMP. APRIL 2018 ELECTRIC SYSTEM. I DROVE THE CAR TO BMW DEALERSHIPS, FOR FUEL LEAKAGE NOW THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT. IS TELLING ME THAT THE CAR WON'T START!!! AND THAT THE STARTER NEEDS REPLACED. WE HAVE NOT HAD ANY PREVIOUS ISSUES WITH THE STARTER. AND I HAVE ALREADY SPENT NEARLY $4,000.00 WITHIN THE PAST 5 MONTHS FOR THINGS THAT I BELIEVE I SHOULD NOT HAVE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE. IN NOVEMBER 2017 THE CAR WAS OVERHEATING

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 BMW 335I. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS AND ACCELERATING, THE SPEED DECREASED AND THE MESSAGE "ENGINE PRESSURE REDUCTION" APPEARED. IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NIELLO BMW IN ELK GROVE, CALIFORNIA WHERE THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH THE ASA BOLTS. IN REGARDS TO THE VEHICLE STALLING, THE COOLANT PUMP AND THE WATER PUMP WERE REPLACED. FURTHERMORE, THE DEALER FOUND A LEAK IN THE SEAL OF THE RADIATOR AND DIAGNOSED THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALLS RELATED TO THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY TO AN AUTO BODY COLLISION CENTER TO ASSESS THE DAMAGE. IT HAD NOT BEEN DETERMINED IF THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 48,000.

WATER PUMPED FAILED AFTER 40,400 MILES ONLY. THE CAR WAS WELL MAINTAINED BY DEALER. THE AGE OF THE CAR IS 5 YEARS AND 6 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE. WATER PUMP FAILED DURING IN TOWN DRIVING. SPEED WAS UNDER 30 MILES/HR.
