2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020-2025 Alfa Romeo Giulia and Alfa Romeo Stelvio vehicles. The printed circuit board and software for the rearview camera may contain defects that cause the rearview camera image not to display properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Risk. A rearview image that does not display properly reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and replace the radio, as necessary. In addition, dealers will update the rearview camera software, as necessary. All repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 25, 2025. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is A2C. Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia and Alfa Romeo Stelvio vehicles. The fastener that connects the brake pedal and the brake booster may have been improperly assembled during manufacturing, which can cause the brake pedal to detach from the brake booster.

Risk. Brake pedal detachment can cause a loss of brake function and increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and repair, the brake booster connection, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 18, 2025. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is E0B.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2017-2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia, 2018-2025 Alfa Romeo Stelvio, 2019-2023 Fiat 500X, Jeep Renegade, and 2024 Fiat 500E vehicles. A seat belt buckle switch sensor may be improperly connected, preventing the front seat air bag from deploying as intended.

Risk. A front seat air bag that does not deploy as intended can increase the risk of injury in a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will repair the connection, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning August 27, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 82B.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2017-2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia and 2018-2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio vehicles equipped with carbon ceramic matrix brakes. During certain driving maneuvers, the brake system may exert an excessive clamp force that may fracture the rotor, decreasing the brake performance.

Risk. An unexpected decrease in brake performance increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will update the brake system module (BSM) software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 20, 2023. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 68A.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Alfa Romeo Stelvio, and Alfa Romeo Giulia vehicles. The fuel line sensor housing may crack and leak fuel.

Risk. A fuel leak may cause an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash. A fuel leak also increases the risk of fire in the presence of an ignition source.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and replace the fuel line sensor housing, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on January 11, 2022. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is Y91.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Alfa Romeo Stelvio and 2020-2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia vehicles. Hard braking may cause the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) rotor shaft to separate, a reduction of braking assist, and a loss of ABS.

Risk. The loss of braking assistance and ABS functionality can reduce overall braking performance, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the ABS HCU, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on June 29, 2021. Owners may contact FCA US LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403.

Car stalled/ went into limp mode 4 separate times for fuel pressure issue. Is not drivable, does not accelerate, throws erroneous error codes. The recall Y91 covers this issue for 2020 Stelvio. When I contact Mopar they say it is not open on my vin. How is this possible?

Engine light came on. I was told by the first dealership that the coolant was mixing with the engine oil. There was also a vehicle at the shop there for the same issue. after doing some research online, it appears that this is a bigger issue. I bought the car at 20,000 miles and this began happening around 52000 miles. Given the low mileage, this is something that should not be happening to a newer car.

The contact stated that while driving on two occasions at undisclosed speeds, the check engine, oil, and the Automatic START/STOP System Unavailable warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer twice; however, on the first occasion, the failure was not duplicated. During the second visit, the contact was informed that the coolant was mixing into the engine oil, which caused the engine failure. Back in December 2025 my engine light had come on, upon bringing it to the dealership I had found out that the engine oil and the coolant were mixing. A repair was done to stop this from happening three months later the same issue happened only the previous dealership was no longer servicing Alpha Romeos so I brought it to the only dealer left a mass. I was told that they botched the repair at the previous dealer. Now, three months later from then my engine light is back on again and the same thing is happening. but since neither truly actually repaired the issue now, I’m being told that there’s an issue with my engine. From the beginning when I first brought it to the dealership, this was not an issue. I was actually told that the engine was not misfiring at all, and the engine appeared to be good.My car was not the only one there for this issue so clearly this is a known issue. I also began looking online and realized that there are a lot of people that have this issue so I did bring it to Alfa Romeo‘s attention I feel like at this point the dealerships are making it worse because they’re not fixing the actual issue. I’m also being told this time around that, it was only a temporary fix which I was never told the first two times that they fixed it. No vehicle with 50,000 miles should be having these types of issues. I feel like there is a bigger issue that needs to be addressed within the manufacturer.

The contact owns a 2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle became inoperable and failed to start with no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the ground strap had failed due to corrosion and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The dealer informed the contact that if the corrosion had not been repaired in time, it could have caused a more severe vehicle failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

Ground strap is faulty. I have owned the vehicle for less than 2 years and am already on my 4th battery because the ground strap keeps draining it. The dealership is finally replacing the ground strap under my warranty but on several occasions I have been left essentially stranded away from home because the vehicle was acting completely fine then will randomly not start due to the faulty ground strap not allowing the alternator to actually charge the battery. Every time this happens it has to go to the dealership because it cannot be jumped and all the lights in the dash come on and need to be reset. This failure happens at random and no lights ever come on in the dash as a warning before it happens. The warranty also will not cover the battery even though it’s being drained due to the faulty strap and I must pay almost $900 for the dealership to install a new one.

The vehicle suddenly loss power while I was driving on a busy interstate. I was almost rear-ended by the vehicle behind me. I had to coast my vehicle to the shoulder of the road crossing lanes of traffic without power! It was terrifying. I could have been wrecked our worse! The check engine lights flashed on saying: "Service Electronic Throttle Control" and "Start / Stop unavailable". I took the car to get it checked out and I was told that this is a common problem currently under recall for the 2018 models, but not my 2020. The mechanic says the scanner code is P008A, a fuel system problem which is likely a faulty fuel pump.

While driving at approximately 40 mph, my Alfa Romeo Stelvio suddenly lost all power without warning. The vehicle went from operating normally to immediately illuminating multiple warning lights on the dashboard. I was unable to accelerate and nearly struck by another vehicle due to the sudden loss of power. I had to coast to the side of the road and have the vehicle towed to a repair shop. Upon inspection, it was determined that the fuel pump had failed. I was informed by the technicians that this is a common issue in Alfa Romeo’s and that the previous two model years have already had fuel pump–related recalls. This sudden failure created a serious safety hazard and appears to be part of an ongoing pattern.

The gear shifter broke. The button on the back that you compress in order to trigger a button inside of the shifter, broke off and then the button inside got stuck. I was not able to shift gears and even though there was no other issue with the vehicle, I was stuck in a parking lot blocking other people's ability to move around me. It creates a safety hazard by not being able to shift gears to move the vehicle out of harm's way or even to be able to be towed in a safe manner. The tow truck driver had to climb under my vehicle and find a way to put the vehicle into neutral because the gear shifter would not engage. No to the other questions. I sat for six hours waiting for a tow truck to come because the first one that was dispatched was not able to help due to the specific circumstances. From reading other online forums, this does seem to be a recurring issue with Alfa Romeo's.

My Alfa Romeo Stelvio 2020 on Oct 29,2025 stop functioning all the ADAS system as well as the sunroof. Because of this a had a small accident with a gate as it did not advised me. I read in a few websites that I am not the only person having this same issue. This is a very serious issue that Alfa Romeo manufacturing should fix immediately before it can become a tragic event.

Upon starting the vehicle a number of warning lights illuminated including the battery light. Upon viewing the battery compartment the plastic enclosure surrounding the battery had a few inches of water inside. I do have videos showing the water inside the compartment and also video of water being vacuumed out of the compartment. We did some research and found that this exact same issue sparked a recall in the same model vehicle in 2018. Very dangerous and i hope this is not happening to others, based on our research it is.

I was in an accident that was can be contributed to my lane keeping assistance. Once the car crashed into another vehicle my airbags failed to deploy.

Please be advised that Alfa Romeo vehicles are experiencing a very large number of gear shift selecting buttons that "POP OFF" during driving and while parked and can't be driven or moved!!! This is a know reported and COMMON ISSUE according to the ALFA ROMEO SERVICE MANAGER but not a reported recall issue!!! This is unsafe and very dangerous and should be considered a recall safety issue by the manufacture, owners and public immediately!!! The contact stated that after coasting to the side of the roadway, the vehicle was restarted. The contact stated that after restarting the vehicle, the START/STOP light was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to the dealer and was diagnosed and determined that a tune-up was needed. The dealer did not complete a tune-up. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that engine oil had mixed with coolant and then leaked into the engine. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that there was no recall on the VIN. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000. The VIN was not available.

When leaving to go to work, I pressed the button on the gear shift to put the car into reverse and then drive. I heard something click into the cupholders as I drove. It was the gear shift button. The plastic actuator button fell off completely. It would not fit back in. I think the plastic broke. I continued to drive to work, but when I got to work, I could not put the car into reverse. I was able to pull into a space, and put it in Park (which is a different button on top of the gear shift). When I returned to my car, it was impossible to move the car out of park. Manually putting the button back on, or taping it into position did not work. There was no override (I called the dealer to verify what I should do). Trying with my fingers to push the keypad inside did not work. I had to have the car towed to the dealer. The tow truck driver had difficulty also, as he could not put it into Neutral to avoid damage. There is a bolt on the transmission underneath to take it out of gear, but the dealer said that requires a special aftermarket tool, not provided with the vehicle. It was impossible to get the car out of park by trying to insert fingers or other objects into the hole where the button had been. This was literally a walk home scenario. With this plastic button broken - the car was stuck in a parking garage in park indefinitely.
