Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia and 2018-2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio vehicles. The fuel pump may fail, which can result in a loss of fuel flow and loss of drive power.

Risk. A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the fuel delivery module, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed October 7, 2025. A seat belt buckle switch sensor may be improperly connected, preventing the front seat air bag from deploying as intended.

Risk. A front seat air bag that does not deploy as intended can increase the risk of injury in a crash.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2017-2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia and 2018-2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio vehicles equipped with carbon ceramic matrix brakes. During certain driving maneuvers, the brake system may exert an excessive clamp force that may fracture the rotor, decreasing the brake performance.

Risk. An unexpected decrease in brake performance increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will update the brake system module (BSM) software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 20, 2023. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 68A.

Defect. Alfa Romeo (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Giulia and Stelvio vehicles. The Body Control Module (BCM) may indicate an inaccurate fuel level that displays higher than the actual amount.

Risk. The vehicle may be operated without enough fuel in the tank causing a stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Alfa Romeo will notify owners, and dealers will update the BCM software, free of charge. The recall began August 12, 2019. Owners may contact Alfa Romeo customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Alfa Romeo's number for this recall is V84.

Defect. FCA US LLC (Alfa Romeo) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio and 2017-2019 Giulia vehicles. The Brake System Module (BSM) software may prevent the driver from disabling the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) after the traction control system detects a specific wheel slip.

Risk. The driver's inability to deactivate the ACC can increase the risk of crash.

Remedy. Alfa Romeo has notified owners, and dealers will update the BSM software, free of charge. The recall began March 25, 2019. Owners may contact Alfa Romeo customer service 1-800-853-1403. The Alfa Romeo number for this recall is V27.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio vehicles. The engine cooling hose may have inadequate webbing material allowing a coolant leak.

Risk. A loss of coolant can cause the engine to overheat and the vehicle to stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the coolant hose, free of charge. The recall began October 10, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is U99.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia and 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio vehicles, equipped with 2.0L engines. These engines may misfire causing the catalytic converter to overheat, possibly resulting in damage to the nearby wiring and engine components.

Risk. Heat damage to the engine compartment wiring or components can increase the risk of a fire or it can cause an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles for diagnostic codes, and update the engine control module software, free of charge. The recall began October 10, 2018. Defect. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio vehicles. Water may leak into the body control module and its connectors, causing corrosion. This corrosion can cause illumination of one or more malfunction indicator lamps, a loss of windshield wiper function, a loss of exterior lighting, a loss of horn function and/or unintended turn signal activation.

Risk. Electrical malfunctions such as windshield wipers that may not work in the rain and lights that may not work at night increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will install additional sealing protection to prevent water from entering the body control module and its connectors. Defect. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio vehicles. Water may Leak into the wiring connectors for the rear liftgate and the liftgate-opening switch, causing corrosion.

Risk. Corrosion at the connectors may cause the liftgate to unintentionally open while moving at speeds of less than 3 miles per hour, allowing cargo to fall out of the vehicle, creating a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will install additional protection against water leaking into the liftgate wiring connectors and switch, free of charge. Defect. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio vehicles. The software for the wiper motor may incorrectly interpret the wiper motor as overheating, limiting the windshield wipers to operating only at the low-speed setting. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 104, "Windshield Wiping and Washing Systems."

Risk. Limited wiper function can reduce the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

My 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio has a safety recall, due to a faulty fuel pump. I have attempted to work with the Alfa Romeo customer support team to try and have my vehicle fixed, but they have not been able to make practical arrangements to have the vehicle serviced. I live in [XXX]. Initially, I was informed that although there were no local Alfa Romeo dealerships in [XXX], there were some partner Jeep Chrysler Dodge dealerships that could handle the repair. However, I was then informed that these dealerships were no longer being compensated from Alfa Romeo, so I would actually need to work with an actual Alfa Romeo dealership. The closest dealership is in [XXX], which is over 400 miles away. I was then told that Alfa Romeo would arrange towing my car to and from the dealership in [XXX]. The parts were ordered and after a few weeks, the parts are now available. However, in the meantime, Alfa Romeo has again changed their policy to provide towing services. I have been informed that they will make an exception and tow my vehicle to the dealership, but then I would be responsible to arrange to pick up the vehicle from the dealership. This would require me to either drive a rental vehicle or purchase a plane ticket at my expense, in order to obtain the vehicle. Alfa Romeo has issued the safety recall, but is not providing a timely or effective option of actually taking care of the repairs without requiring a significant cost to the consumer. I am reporting an authorized manufacturer franchise dealer for actively refusing to remedy a federal safety recall and unlawfully withholding my vehicle. My vehicle is a 2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio (VIN: [Insert VIN]), which is subject to the active Fuel Pump Safety Recall (NHTSA Campaign 25V586000 / Manufacturer Recall Code 93C). The vehicle has been physically located at Southern Alfa Romeo of Norfolk ([XXX]) for approximately 18 months. The dealership service management has explicitly stated that they will not perform the mandatory safety recall remedy, nor will they release my vehicle to a flatbed towing company, until an unrelated $5,000 civil dispute involving a loaner car is paid out of pocket. By conditioning a federal safety mandate and the physical custody of my vehicle on a separate civil debt, this dealership is violating the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act (49 U.S.C. Chapter 301). The 1.5-year delay also completely violates the federal requirement to provide a safety remedy within a reasonable timeframe. I request federal intervention to force compliance. While the contact’s wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, another motorist informed the driver that there was smoke coming from under the hood of the vehicle. The vehicle was immediately parked and failed to restart. The contact was called to the scene and inspected under the hood of the vehicle and discovered smoldering and melted wires. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer, who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the chassis-to-engine grounding strap had failed due to corrosion and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer and dealer were made aware of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 54,000.

Car stalled on highway leaving my life at risk and dealer has no date to repair fuel line

There is no fix for this. The fuel pump foe the Stelvio is recalled almost a year ago. The engine light comes on and the car is undriveable. I have paid for 2 new fuel pumps and control module (out of pocket) , and the check engine light will come back after a few weeks. The car is basically inoperable and bricked because of this, and Alfa has not resolved it. They should not be allowed to drag a recall out for years while owners suffer, and are in danger. Please hold Alfa Romeo accountable. It just happened again today (7/31/26) while my wife was on the highway. This is after paying thousands and thousands to resolve this whole Alfa Romeo doesn’t do anything to fix it. We are out of options.

I was told I was on a priority list to have this recall fixed. My Stelvio is virtually undrivable. It continues to lose power when acceleration and goes into limp mode. I refuse to take the Stelvio onto the highway as it poses a danger to myself and passengers. This recall has been active for well over a year with a continual push back on the remedy date. Recall 93C (NHTSA 25V-586) causes a failure in the fuel delivery system which compromises acceleration and will frequently, without warning lose power as well as trip the a throttle delivery system warning light. This is a freaking joke to them. They refuse to take ownership over this recall and people are going to get into accidents.

THIS IS A FOLLOW UP TO MY PREVIOUS COMPLAINT, 11737275 AS THE VEHICLE HAS NOW DEGRADED TO PERSISTENT ACTIVE STALLING. This is a follow-up to my previous complaint 11737275 as the vehicle has now degraded to persistent active stalling. The failed component is the fuel pump assembly under active safety recall NHTSA 25V586 (Mopar 93C), and the un-remedied vehicle is completely available for physical inspection upon request. Safety is severely compromised as the vehicle experiences extreme drops in RPM, engine choking, and sudden stalling immediately after fueling because the failing, recalled pump cannot maintain proper pressure to compensate for standard EVAP canister vapor purging cycles. This dangerous driveability defect has been formally brought to Criswell Alfa Romeo, where service staff confirmed the failures but stated they cannot perform the remedy because the redesigned factory replacement component is currently unavailable. While the vehicle remains open for full review by any designated authority, it has not yet undergone formal inspection by the manufacturer, local law enforcement, or insurance investigators. The symptoms first manifested in 2021 immediately before the safety recall campaign became public knowledge, and the vehicle has suffered from these chronic, hazardous failures ever since. My vehicle has been subject of multiple recalls, however the current recall is a significant one and has been pending for months with no end in sight. I am concerned The manufacturer and dealers are not taking this seriously and the delay is causing additional damage to my vehicle. Additionally quickly googling my vehicle will show that it has fuel pump and acceleration jerking and lag issues that are extremely, extremely, common and troubling. I am also still having the service engine soon issues described in recalls and other forums related to throttle cable. Either none of this has been addressed by the manufacturer or the repairs so far have not been sufficient if it is still so common. On behalf of all Stelvio owners I demand these recalls and issues be addressed in a timely manner. This is going to cost us additional grief, safety issues, and repair costs. The biggest being my safety and my family's safety when we are riding in this vehicle, the acceleration issues are very noticeable and are getting worse. The symptoms are -exactly-what is described online and also as part of the recall. I don't even have the option to get it fixed there is no parts to fix available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.

I was driving and the car gave an error showing service throttle position. Car went into limp mode. I pulled over out of traffic. Car drove but very slow. I tried to drive back home but the car died while I was in the turning lane. It would not start again. I used my autel scanner and received codes, p01ca, p008a, p00c6, p0300, p0303, p0302. I believe it is the fuel pump and fuel pump module causing the car issues. I believe it is the 93c recall for this car. It would have been very unsafe if I was driving on the highway and this happen. The car is currently at Champion Alfa dealership. I’m waiting for the service department to get back to me. I hope the dealership or Alfa Romeo will cover the repairs cost since it is a pending recall.

Intermittent hesitation when accelerating

During the crash the driver sustained a concussion do to the air bag deployment and the front passenger sustained a fractured right arm. Both occupants of the vehicle were transported and treated at the hospital. The vehicle was destroyed and towed away. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away.
