Defect. Airstream, Inc. (Airstream) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Land Yacht, Eddie Bauer, International, Flying Cloud, and Sport travel trailers manufactured August 1, 2013, to February 4, 2015. The screws that secure the tray for the liquid propane (LP) tanks may fail and the LP tanks may fall from the trailer.
Risk. If the screws that secures the tank to the trailer fails, the tank can separate from the trailer becoming an object that can impact another vehicle on the road. There is also an increased risk of a fire.
Remedy. Airstream will notify owners, and dealers will install new attaching screws to secure the LP tank tray, free of charge. The recall began on February 25, 2015. Owners may contact Airstream customer service at 1-937-596-6111.

The affected vehicles may have been built with power inlet receptacles that may not be properly tightened to the electrical connectors.
Risk. If the electrical connection is loose it could cause excessive heat, increasing the risk of a vehicle fire.
Remedy. Airstream will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the receptacle for damage and tighten the electrical connectors, or replace the power inlet if necessary, free of charge. The recall began on December 2, 2014. Owners may contact Airstream customer service at 1-937-596-6111.

The trailer door latch fell off and trapped us inside for about an hour. There was no one around to help us at our campsite and no telephone cell service. We had no tools other than a butter knife to try and jamb the latch lock. We did finally manage to get of the trailer on our own by using brut force. This is a extremely dangerous problem that AirStream could easily fix. Yes, there is an escape window but breaking a window and screen is a last ditch effort and requires some agility on the occupants part to jump out of. Thinking of all the wildfires these days it would be awful to be trapped in a trailer or to have a fire break out inside the trailer and not be able to escape.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 AIRSTREAM INTERNATIONAL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO 35 MPH AND THERE WAS A LOUD ABNORMAL NOISE PRESENT. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE REAR DRIVER SIDE AND THE WHEEL BEARING DETACHED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,100.
