We were on a highway drive to a state park 45 minutes from our house on [XXX]. 40 Minutes into the drive the check engine light flashed. We had just taken a long road trip from Minnesota to Ohio (and back again) the week before (10/15-10/20) and had NO problems whatsoever. We parked and read what we could online as to what to do. Checked the gas cap tightness, the oil, etc. and let the engine cool for 2 hours. Started the car and no lights came on. So we started driving home. 35 Minutes later ALL the lights on the dash came on. Scrolling through every system in the car-transmission, brakes, lane assist, etc. We pulled Over almost immediately. Turned the car off checked under the hood but nothing seemed glaringly wrong. It wasn’t overheating or smoking or anything. We tried to drive it directly to our mechanic. Got back on the highway and the engine would not get up to speed, just groaning. Worried we would be in danger on the highway we pulled over and called for a tow. The first mechanic that reviewed (just local not Honda) could hear a knocking in the engine. Towed it to an Acura dealership on 10/28/2024. The Acura mechanic there confirmed that it is a rod/rod bearing issue—but we don’t fall under the recall. The rod came loose in the engine, banged around, damaging the engine. Cost to fix is $10,000. This information came to us on 11/4. We filed a complaint with the Acura/Honda recall department that day. We have been waiting to hear their verdict (after their investigatio

The contact owns a 2016 Acura MDX. The contact stated that the vehicle was hesitating and jerking while driving. The emissions and AWD warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that there was a fuel leak, and the fuel pump was replaced. After the vehicle was repaired, the contact started smelling an abnormal burning fuel odor. The contact was informed that the connector within the fuel system was corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The odor had become progressively worse over time. The vehicle was returned to the dealer who determined that the fuel injectors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.
Driving on the highway for the car to idle, slow down and shut off, causing us to go to the shoulder in a busy intersection. No fore warning just died and won’t start. Waited 20-30 minute to restart. The car will start but will not shift to neutral or drive.
2016 Acura MDX in White Diamond Pearl with peeling paint just above windshield. There is a Service Bulletin (19-029) but I am told that my VIN is not covered. Same problem and same color within the year models. Acura has indicated that VIN was not manufactured where the Service Bulletin covers. Clearly, there is a defect with the paint regardless of where the vehicle was built. There is no safety risk from the defect and it is available at any time for inspection. Was unaware of the Service Bulletin until researching how to stop the problem from progressing since the paint is lifting and peeling off.
Transmission slips and make chirp sound, and failed completely during driving at 86000
VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH PAINT PEELING OFF DIAMOND WHITE 2014-2016 WITH PAINT COLOR CODE OF NH603P- SO COMMON THAT ACURA ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN (19-029). THE PROBLEM IS ACURA SAYS IT IS BASED ON YOUR VIN. EVERYTHING I HAVE RESEARCHED SHOWS MOST VINS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR REIMBURSEMENT (LIKE MINE) AND MANY PEOPLE ARE PISSED OFF> JUST GOOGLE "2016 WHITE ACURA MDX WITH PAINT PEELING" AND YOU WILL SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM. LOCAL ACURA DEALERSHIP SAYS "YOUR VIN IS NOT ELIGIBLE" AS DOES ACURA HQ. I AM SEEKING A FULL RECALL ON ALL VEHICLES NOTED IN SERVICE BULLETIN 19-029 REGARDLESS OF VIN. THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. MANY PEOPLE WANT TO START A CLASS ACTION SUIT BUT NO ONE KNOWS HOW NOR DOES ANYONE WANT TO SPEND LEGAL FEES.
The auto engine idle feature activated at a stoplight as normal, but when I lifted my foot from the brake to accelerate, the car shut down, shifted into neutral, and wouldn’t restart. This happenwd 3 times in the last two days , leaving me stalled in heavy traffic for several minutes before i can get the car started again. This is extremely dangerous.
I have the same issue but my vin does not meet the requirement. reading multiple forum and a lot of people having the same issue. NHTSA RECALL NUMBER:23V-751 MFR CAMPAIGN ID:OH6 CAMPAIGN DESCRIPTION:2016-20 MDX Conn Rod Inspect Recall RECALL DATE:11/08/2023 RECALL STATUS:17 Character VIN Required SUMMARY: American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (Honda) is recalling certain 2016-2020 model year MDX vehicles. Due to a manufacturing defect of the engine crankshaft, the connecting rod bearing can prematurely wear and seize. SAFETY RISK: If the connecting rod bearing seizes, the engine can be damaged and run improperly, stall, stop while driving, and/or not start, increasing the risk of a fire, crash or injury.
PAINT PEELING ON ROOF
Our engine is exhibiting symptoms currently related to an open recall by Acura for Connecting Rod Bearings. Our 2016 MDX is one of the affected model years but as of now our VIN is not included in the recall. I don't believe this is coincidence. I believe the mechanical issue is more widespread than Acura wants to reveal and is subsequently limiting the VIV numbers it includes. I am trying to be proactive in this regard prior to an incident taking place.
My vehicle has been going off on its own when it is off, the lights starts to flicker on the outside and on the dashboard, the seats malfunction on its own so does the steering wheel causing the steering wheel to move up and down adjusting on its own, the car alarm will go off all the time, and I hear a noise coming from under the hood. It’s so bad that I have to take out the battery and leave it cause this problem will continue until the battery is dead, sometimes it will cause all the lights to come on and stay on all night, mean while the vehicle is not even turned on when all this is happening, I search couple video and websites only to see other people having the same problem with this specific type of vehicle, this problem been consistent for months and it makes the car unable to drive.
The contact owns a 2016 Acura MDX. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.
The connecting rod and bearing failed, causing the engine to immediately seize while in full operation on the highway. Components are available. The engine rod catastrophically failed and shot through the oil pan. Engine seized and lost power while on highway, cruising at 75mph. Flying engine components and the immediately loss of power was a major safety risk. The car was towed to the dealer and they found the rod bearing had sheared off. American Honda has been sent pictures. My model and year were affected by a recall on the failed components but my VIN was not identified. The car had no warning lights on the dash and was been recently serviced.
Paint Peeling on my 2016 Acura MDX with color code NH 603P. This is a frequent problem-- so frequent that Acura issued a service bulletin 19-029. I am hoping for a full recall. the problem is Acura claims this is based on VIN. If you google "problems with 2016 Acura MDX with paint peeling" you will find a SLEW of owners with this same problem but the VIN is not eligible for reimbursement (mine was not eligible either based on my VIN). This is a problem with the color code NOT the VIN. Can NHTSA request a full recall to Acura for all vehicles identified in Service Bulletin 19-029 regardless of the VIN??? Clearly there is a problem with the year, make, model, color code regardless of the VIN>
The contact owns a 2016 Acura MDX. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle made a rattling sound with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle failed to accelerate properly. The vehicle was taken to a nearby independent mechanic; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, where it was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that there were metal shavings at the bottom of the oil pan. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin: 23-036. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 108,500.
We have a 2016 Acura MDX and it has automatically shifted to Neutral 3 times (twice while driving on the freeway and 1x yesterday while driving on the street at normal speeds) in the last 2 months. On the MDX dashboard, it will display "Emissions System Problem" and then display "Stop Driving When Safe. Transmission Problem. See Manual." However, the car will automatically shift to Neutral within seconds. My children's lives (7 y/o and 5 y/o) were placed in danger as a result of this system failure. I have contacted the Acura Honda Recall Specialists and Client Relations Representatives. The car is being diagnosed at Cerritos Acura dealership at the present time. A case number has been filed since our VIN shows no recall, despite it having recalls for other 2016 Acura MDXs.
White paint is peeling on roof and exposing bare metal. Risk of rust, corrosion and structural degradation. Background: Acura/Honda knows of an issue with their White Pearl paint from 2016 and has issued a TSB to address the paint on certain VIN numbers. However, many owners are finding that even though they have a 2016 White Acura MDX, the VIN is not covered by the TSB. The TSB extends the warranty to 8 years for any peeling of the white paint. Acura/Honda states that only the VINs that are in range of the TSB are affected, however many owners are experiencing the peeling/chipping of the paint even thought their VIN is not in range. A popular online forum, [XXX] has multiple discussions on VINs not in range but still experiencing the peeling/chipping issue. I have attached links to just a few of the discussions I found. I was driving the car, when I saw a sign pop up on the dash saying " Emission Systems problem" and the car completely stopped within a 100 feet. The car passed the Emissions and Inspection the previous day and I have a registration till June 30, 2026 now. There was a clicking noise that I heard when driving during the morning. I had never heard it previously. There was an oil change sign for about 3-4 days buy there were no other warning lamps. Here is the video of the problem from the dealer - [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
After traveling about on a 4 hour drive, my daughter who was driving the vehicle slowed down to make a turn. That's when she heard a loud clanking noise coming from the engine. She immediately pulled over and turned off the engine/vehicle. I went to meet her, and replicated the same problem when I turned the ignition switch to to on. It sounded as if there was some large piece of metal loose inside the engine -- it did not have consistency and was highly variable with regards to the sound it was making. The "Check Engine" light was on. Fortunately this did not occurr going at high/freeway speeds, yet the safety was compromised when my daughter was fortunate enough to leverage the momentum to get to the side of the road. Additionally, she was not in a spot where there was a shoulder/it was under an overpass, so she had to be careful and turned on her emergency lights. We had the vehicle towed to the nearby Honda Dealer. I am attaching their report and findings. They recommended engine be replaced; which we agreed to have done. Additionally, we continue to have problems due to the mounting and shacking which we believe comes from the installment of the new engine. We are submitting that report as well. At present, my daughter is not driving the vehicle and is relying on rides or borrowing other people's vehicles.
Faulty fuel pump
[XXX] 7 pm. As I was on the highway, warning lights came on the dashboard, “failing transmission, emission failure, and side mirrors failure.” I soon lost a lot of power. I purchased this 2016 Acura MDX in 2019 at Acura of Concord as a Pre-owned Certified with 20k miles. At the time of the transmission failure I had put an additional 17k miles. Total cost for a new transmission was nearly $8000. This does not seem fair to have to replace a transmission with so little miles. It seems as though this vehicle is a lemon. Approximately 3 weeks later, as I coming up the driveway, I noticed a huge chip of paint missing in front of the sunroof area. Now this appears Exactly as the recall or extended warranty demonstrates for 2014-2016 MDX White Diamond Pearl NH-603P. Honda claims this “VIN Does not qualify” for this extended warranty. Even the service manager at Acura of Concord exclaimed, ”How they explain to me that this vehicle does not qualify when it is the same year model, same paint, and that the paint chipped off Exactly the same way as described in the extended warranty recall.” In other words, Honda is forcing me to reach out to you because this VIN is not on the list and they do not wish to acknowledge that they are at fault. I do not feel that it right that I paid $8000 for a new transmission, and now I will have to pay $5303.70 to repair the paint on the roof. Please help me in this matter. Thanks, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FO
The paint on the roof of my 2016 Acura MDX is peeling, as described in Acura Service Bulletin 19-029 in August 28, 2019. The paint code NH-603P matched the service bulletin but Acura is denying me of any warranty because of VIN. This is a known problem for 2014 - 2016 Honda and Acura White Diamond or Pearl White paint NH-603P many people have the same issues based from a quick search on Google but Honda and Acura are denying many people because they ARE NOT expanding the VIN and or only restricting and addressing certain locations. There are no dent or scratches on my roof, no sign of weather damage. They used the same paint and same problem as service bulletin so obviously the problem was not addressed to all 2014 - 2016 MDX. Manufacture should be held responsible and expand their service to other customers with the same paint code as well.
While driving our well-maintained 2016 Acura MDX on a 30-minute drive on [XXX] , I heard a pop, and then the engine lost power. I couldn't get the RPMs over 2500. A fluttering noise evolved into knocking and the vehicle became increasingly sluggish and heavy. The check engine light started blinking, but the vehicle's temperature gauge showed no changes. There wasn't any smoke or unusual smells. I felt terrified trying to get safely onto the side of the road with cars driving at full speed. I had the car dropped off at our local service station and the owner determined that the engine cylinder was loose and lost compression with a knock. He says that the engine light did not give a code. The owner determined that we need to replace the engine. A rebuilt engine will cost us $8,000. When I called Acura, the service person I spoke with seemed surprised that our 8-year-old car with only 77,000 miles needed a new engine. Since Acura has so many cars to deal with on the latest recall, he said it would be weeks before anyone can look at it. I researched and found that our VPN was NOT included in the recent recall of 2016-2020 model year MDX vehicles all with the same problems. How can that be???? The vehicle was purchased at Mullers Woodfield Acura, 1099 W. Higgins Rd., Hoffman Estates, IL 60169, Tel. 847-519-9550 on [XXX]. I came home with the vehicle when it was dark. In the morning, I inspected the car and noticed paint issues where the bumper meets the painted metal and some areas around the sunroof and side edges of the roof. The dealer would not exchange for different vehicles; they offered to paint the areas, which they did through their insurance. Sometime later, around 2019, I noticed a small patch of paint missing on the roof. I took the vehicle to the dealer, where I found a Service Bulletin regarding this issue. The service bulletin dated 08/29/2019 was for the same problem I was experiencing. My dealer advised me that my VIN does not match the service bulletin. They quoted me $2,400 to repaint the car after they filed with Acura Care, which denied accountability. I went back and forth between the dealer and Honda Care but was nowhere. Nobody is taking responsibility for this manufacturer defect. I contacted them again today and was denied. I could not file a complaint with the person I spoke with, who stated she was the manager. This vehicle had paint issues from the start, and I reported it to the dealer and Honda Care and gave the Service Bulletin the vehicle year, paint color, and the claim the dealer filed with Honda Care. Pictures were taken, and the claim was denied because my VIN number is not listed with the Service Bulletin that came out. I am fi
I am writing to bring to your immediate attention a critical safety issue with my 2016 Acura MDX, and the subsequent exclusion of my vehicle from a known recall that directly addresses the problems we are experiencing. Without any prior warning, we began hearing a fluttering sound coming from the engine whenever we accelerated. This noise progressively worsened and evolved into a pronounced knocking noise.Concurrently, the vehicle became increasingly sluggish and heavy, resulting in significant difficulty when accelerating. Despite these alarming symptoms, the vehicle's temperature gauge showed no changes, there was no smoke or unusual smells, and the check engine light did not activate. Gravely concerned for our safety, we promptly took the vehicle to our local mechanic for a thorough inspection. The diagnosis revealed significant engine damage, specifically to the connecting rod bearings and the crankshaft. Given the severity of the issue, we then brought the vehicle to the closest Acura dealership, Pohanka Acura. The service advisor informed us of a recall affecting the engine and rod bearings in the 2016 Acura MDX model. They also confirmed that our vehicle's engine was indeed damaged due to the same rod bearings and crankshaft issue described in the recall. However, despite this clear evidence, we were informed that our vehicle's VIN was excluded from the recall repair. The technician who performed the diagnostic on our vehicle recommended a new short engine block, which

DTC test certification codes: P0301 Misfire No. 1 cylinder P0306 Misfire No. 6 cylinder P0300 Random Misfire P0420 Catalyst System efficiency below threshold B1 Recommendation was that the Catalytic converter be replaced. All these codes were identified under Honda's TSB 20-100 dated 2/2021 on Odyssey, Pilot and Ridgeline models where AH extended warranty to 10 years from date of purchase or 150K. These V6 engines are pretty close to that of the 2016 MDX. Is there a remote possibility that these DTC codes could exist in MDX V6 engines when an issue arises similar to those in the Honda vehicles? These DTC codes appeared 24 hours/37 miles after a routine oil service on 3/26/2024 at Advantage Acura of Naperville with a perfect inspection report. The malfunction occurred in the vicinity of McGrath Acura of Westmont on the following day of 3/27/2024. The concern is if any of the emission system components were damaged during the routine oil service. Advantage Acura have in the past installed brake pads backwards on my Acura TL 2010 for which I do have proof.
Dear Support, I own Acura MDX 2016 with VIN number [XXX] , paint color is White Diamond Pearl I notice the paint is peeling off from in-between roof and front wind screen. I see there are recall for this color but I don't see my car in your recall list, My cousin also own 2016 MDX and after contacting to Acura support his car is getting fixed. I tried to contact t them but they are very rude and not supporting for INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
There are two parts to this complaint. The issue regarding the transmission is potentially a safety issue and could result in an accident, while the peeling paint problem is already addressed in the Acura Service Bulletin 19-029 for VINs other than mine. Both are well documented problems that have been experienced by other 2016 Acura MDX owners. The transmission issue is an intermittent problem while accelerating and decelerating. There is a abrupt hesitation, or surging. While coating down a steep hil, the transmission will stay in gear at very high revs instead of shifting. These are an annoyance, but the acceleration problem could cause someone to hit the car from behind in heavy traffic situations. Some individuals note on the internet that their engines would accually stall when accelerating. I have brought my vehicle into the Acura Dealership on a number of occasions without the problem being resolved. The paint issue involves the white diamond pearl paint coming off the roof and is already addressed in Acura Service Bulleting 19-029. It is unthinkable that only some VINs are covered while others are not, if the same exact problem seems to exist on non-listed VINs. Honda Motor Company indicated that they would not add additional VINS unless directed to by NHTSA. Please have Honda extend the warranty on ALL 2016 Acura MDX models with the same problem.
Engine rod bearing knocking. Will eventually fail and engine stop running at anytime. My independent service center did confirm the problem. The car has not been to the Dealer as they refuse to include my VIN # in the current recall for this very problem. No warning lights appeared, but slight ticking sound shortly turned into a loud knocking.
I was involved in an accident 12/13, 2023. No airbags deployed, however, my seatbelt locked up. A new seatbelt was ordered through Acura soon thereafter 12/23. At the time this was ordered, I was told that there was no ETA as there is a national backorder. Fast forward to today, my car has been fully repaired and is still sitting in the local repair shop because there are still no seatbelts available. I have filed complaints with Acura corporate, and have a claim number that I would be more than happy to provide. Acura corporate has advised the repair shop that it will be at least six months to one year until a seatbelt is is available I also have documentation on the “ expedited order” that was placed for the seatbelt in 12/2023. The insurance company, USAA, is now looking at totaling my car simply because we cannot find a seatbelt. The local Acura dealers, and our car repair shop cannot believe that cannot seem to get a seatbelt for me, and it’s been four months. On my research online, it appears that Acura may be legally obligated to manufacture, and provide this part. I wanted to report this to the proper regulatory agency to ensure that this has been documented. The car is completely drivable, given the lack of safety restraint. I also am aware that I am not alone in this complaint, as many other MDX owners are experiencing the same I am not sure how to proceed from here and I’m hoping that you may be able to help Thank you so much for your time and consideration
The contact owns a 2016 Acura MDX. The contact stated that while driving at slow speeds through a parking area, his foot slipped and the vehicle unintendedly accelerated, coming to a complete stop after crashing into an 8-inch barrier. The air bags did not deploy. No warning lights were illuminated. A Police report was not filed, and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who determined that the driver's side seat belt needed to be replaced following the crash but informed the contact that Part Number: 04818-TZ5-A00ZC was unavailable. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that parts were not yet available. A case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.
The paint on this vehicle failed and matches photos in Acura service bulletin [XXX] which deals with failure of paint color [XXX]. When calling Honda I was told that that recall is VIN specific and that my vehicle was not affected. The attached photos clearly show that the paint is defective and therefor should be covered. According to the service bulletin a warranty extension was issued for 8 years from the date the vehicle was placed in to service which in my case was June 30, 2016. There is a current recall on Acura/Hondas with the issue that we are having with our car. Knocking engine, car diagnosed with connecting rod bearing issue. Apparently not included in recall. This makes no sense. Car has been undriveable since 11/9/23 with no help from Acura/Honda Corporate. We have been trying to come to a resolution with no help. This should fall under the recall and where our car was manufactured should be looked into because on car forums there are many cars with our VINS having the same issue. This issue has affected more cars than Acura is saying and needs to be looked into before someone gets seriously injured. Acura/Honda are NOT taking this seriously at ALL.
The trunk opens like it should, but then closes after the lift gate reaches the top. It will close on your head if you don't move out of the way, which is what happened the first time because I didn't know what was happening. You can stop the lift gate from continuing to close, but then you can hurt your arm due to the force the door is closing with, as there is no auto censor for the door to know something is blocking the path. This event has been reproduced over 50 times in the last week. About 10% of the time, the lift gate works normally. I have an appointment at the dealership in 3 days. Based on a search of TSBs, this problem has been reported multiple times since at least 2019. It had been working normally until this week, started 2/10/24 and is still occurring when I open the trunk. No warning messages appear.
My 2016 Acura MDX, which was well maintained, locked up while driving at around 45 mph this past September. Upon a certified mechanics evaluation, it was reported that the vehicle would require a new engine as it was "locked up". Shortly afterward, I read that certain model/makes of Acura vehicles were being recalled for this very reason/problem. I called Acura recall client support who informed me that the final list of recalled vehicles would not be available until January 2024 and that I would receive a letter in the mail. When I did not receive a letter, I called again and was informed that my VIN was not included in the recall. This is despite that thousands of other 2016 Acura MDXs were recalled. I find it difficult to accept that a known issue that necessitated a substantial recall of vehicles did not apply to my Acura since it was the exact issue being addressed. Especially since the vehicle was maintained very well from the time of purchase. My teenage son was driving the vehicle and was stranded along a dark highway until I could pick him up about 45 minutes later. There were not warning lights or notices of this pending failure. The vehicle could only partially be removed from the traffic lane at the time it locked up which resulted in a hazard, not only for my son, but for other travelers as well.
The connecting rod bearing has failed in my vehicle. It is causing damage to the engine, there are metal shavings found in the oil, and the engine is producing a strange and unusual sound. It's causing the engine damage and wear and causing it to seize. The incident has been reported to the dealer and has been confirmed in an inspection report. There is a CURRENT recall from NHTSA and Honda/Acura for this exact issue that includes the same make, year and model of my vehicle, however when VIN numbers were split, my vehicle was not included in the recall. The recall should be expanded to not only include more vehicles but those that are actually being impacted.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE ENGINE LOST POWER. THERE WAS NO WARNING.THE CAR BECAME INOPERABLE. THE SAFETY OF PASSENGERS AND OTHERS TRAVELING THE HIGHWAY WERE AT RISK. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED AND ADVISED THAT THE ROD BEARING SPUN. THE VEHICLE IS AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION AND IT IS UNKNOWN AS TO WHETHER THE MANUFACTURER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE.
The car suffer complete engine failure while driving on the highway. I had the car towed to an acura dealer . The acura dealer has informed me that the engine rod failed There is a recall by acura for 250,000 vehicles incuding the same year and model for the same problem . The engine is availble for inspection . My vehicle is not under recall . i was informed by Acura customer relatiins that they will not help me . I was informed by a acura dealer that they will can replace the engine with a used engine for 9000$ . i said ok but then wondered if the engine they would replace it with was under recall. The looked into it and have informed me that the engine is in fact one of the recalled engines and then asked me if i wanted to proceed with the replacement with an engine that is dangerous ... This seems incredible to me and should be illegal and certainly dangerous..
The contact owns a 2016 Acura MDX. The contact stated while driving 25 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was stuck in the middle of the roadway, where the vehicle failed to restart. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the connecting rod bearing, resulting in damage to the engine and requiring a replacement engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic, who confirmed the diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 96,000.
The contact's wife owns a 2016 Acura MDX. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond and lost motive power. A message indicating a transmission failure was displayed. The contact was able to veer to the side of the roadway. The contact was able to restart the vehicle; however, the vehicle failed to shift into gear. The vehicle was towed to a AAA Center. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was covered under an extended transmission warranty. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was not eligible to be repaired under the transmission extended warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 117,000.
While driving on a local road (not highway), engine began to make a very loud sound. sounds like metal on metal inside engine. called local ACURA dealer and they said that the connecting rod recall/problem that was announced in November 2023 "does not apply to my VIN".
Was driving vehicle on highway and suddenly and rapidly lost all ability to accelerate. Warning lights on dash ALL came on simultaneously only after acceleration was lost. Inability to accelerate was extremely dangerous in middle of other highway traffic, but safely pulled to side of road only because of careful driving and luck. Upon inspection, auto service confirmed they verified concern P0716 system needs to update and keyless control was faulty. Recall one month subsequent to event does not seem to include my car, although description of failure sounds potentially similar. Still waiting full repair of vehicle.

My engine light enabled & my car slowed < 30 mph while driving on a frwy on 2/4/23. I exited & turned the engine off. It was late at night in a rural area, so I waited a bit & turned the car back on. Engine light was no longer on, so I continued to my destination (GA). On 2/5/23, while driving on the frwy, my engine light enabled & my car quickly slowed to < 20 mph. The light stayed on & my car had little power (limped along). After a few hours, there was no change & my car was not drivable. I got a hotel for the night & took my car to the nearest Honda dealer on 2/6/23. The service dept told me my car needed a new engine because the bearing or rod had gone bad (terminology may be slightly off). My car had UNDER 100K miles & I was told it needed a new engine. My MDX exhibits the same paint defect in Acuras 19-029 Service Bulletin. I have paint chipping away between the windshield and the sun roof. I need them to fix the issue by repainting my roof.
Car failed at stops when auto stop is engaged. Vehicle would not restart. This happened at stop lights, stop signs etc. I took in for repair and the starter was replaced. American Honda subsequently issued a notice (not a full recall) for my vehicle for this issue. They offered reimbursement for the repairs. However, when I sent in the repair bill, the refused to reimburse. They need to be held accountable for this issue.
