Defect. VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: CLASS 8 HEAVY DUTY TRUCKS. THE AIR SUSPENSION CONTROL VALVE SUPPLY LINE WAS NOT PLUMBED THROUGH AN AIR PRESSURE PROTECTION VALVE. IN THE EVENT OF A FAILURE, THERE WOULD BE LOSS OF AIR PRESSURE IN THE 'B' SYSTEM AIR RESERVOIR THAT SUPPLIES AIR PRESSURE FOR THE FRONT STEER AXLE BRAKES.

Risk. THIS CONDITION WOULD RESULT IN INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCES.

Remedy. DEALERS WILL INSTALL THE NECESSARY AIR PRESSURE PROTECTION VALVE.

Defect. THE BENDIX MV-2 PARKING CONTROL VALVE INSTALLED IN VEHICLES WITHOUT A DESICCANT STYLE AIR DRYER MAY EXPERIENCE A SEAL FAILURE. THIS FAILURE MAY ALLOW THE VALVE TO MOVE FROM THE PARK POSITION TO THE RELEASE POSITION, ALLOWING THE PARKING BRAKES TO RELEASE.

Risk. RELEASE OF THE PARKING BRAKES WHILE THE VEHICLE ISUNATTENDED OR WITHOUT WARNING COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.

Remedy. REBUILD THE BENDIX MV-2 PARKING CONTROL VALVE.
