The contact's vehicle was taken to the dealer, however the contact was requested to pay a diagnostic fee. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.

On 7/4/2024 at approximately 6pm, I disconnected my 2023 VW ID4 from an electrical charging station. I moved my vehicle 2 blocks away to an apartment building parking lot, which I had parked in previously. While pulling into the parking spot, I was coming to a complete stop, perhaps going 1-2 miles per hour and as I came to a stop, the car accelerated out of nowhere and crashed into a few small trees and a chain link fence for the neighbor's home. I had a passenger in the front passenger seat and neither of us could understand what had just happened. It made no sense and I have no idea what happened to cause the acceleration.

Instrument cluster intermittently goes out. exactly the symptons described in recall 919A

The contact stated that the windshield was wavy and distorted the view of the roadway while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the windshield was replaced on two occasions; however, the failure persisted because the replacement parts were also defective. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that all the manufactured windshields were identical, and no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 10.

This is an all electrical vehicle, When we first got it had a issue right away the car was stuck on reverse and we could not do anything, they kids where in the back and had to press the breaks to hold it in place and could not release it. We were in a parking lot, after awhile the system rebooted and it was normal. Brought it to the dealership and got it serviced and they said nothing was wrong with it. Second recent issue car powered down could not do anything while on the road lost all control. This is a huge issue if there was a car behind us going fast speed could be fatal! the power down issue has happened to us 3 times. Currently at the dealership to review but we have no confidence they will find a issue.

My 2023 ID4 suddenly accelerated and lunged forward (while my foot was on the brake) as I was turning right into a parking spot. I was going very slow with my foot on the brake . The ID4 lurched forward which propelled me in the wall of a concrete building that I was parking at (luckily no damage to the building). The acceleration was so powerful it’s like I floored it and frightening. None of the warning signals, sensors or collision warnings went off, nor did the emergency braking (when an object is too close in the front of the vehicle). After the ID4 went into the wall- it had registered that there was a collision (but nothing before). There was damage to the lower plastic bumper, the hood popped open (the latch to open the hood inside the vehicle now did not work) and some paint scratches. This had never happened before, I have taken it to my local VW dealer service department, unfortunately they have not been able to reproduce the issue. Had I been coming to stop at a traffic light, or been in a busy parking lot, it could have been much worse as this could have lurched into another vehicle, pedestrian or business store front.

My 2023 ID.4 is riddled with electrical problems. MY ID.4 keeps stalling and is going tomorrow for a 3rd time to be looked at for this issue. My screens and speedometer blackout while driving frequently. 2 weeks ago I had every error on my instrument cluster screen (all systems were disabled including ABS, collision, etc), the car door locks were disabled, the radio screen was black, and speedometer itself was black. Here we are again and the car is stalling still, experiencing blackouts, and speedometer not visible. I feel extremely unsafe driving this vehicle. They should not be on the market. They are death traps.

When backing up into my garage it automatically stops and causes severe pain in my neck

The doors still don't work properly. They do not close. It happens randomly. It is usually when I drive out of the parking spot or back out so going slow. The rear passenger door opens randomly without warning. I've taken it to three dealerships but they haven't been able to replicate it while the car is there for service so they just send me back or don't even check in the car. I first complained about this the day after I bought it but still nothing

The dog located in the rear passenger seat sustained an eye injury. All required medical treatment. No injury was reported from the second vehicle. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicles were towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 4,000.

I was easing slowly into a parking space, with plenty of room on both sides (no cars); there was a shopping cart at the front of the spot to my left. I was probably straightening the steering wheel back to the center. The car took over, accelerated suddenly to a very fast speed, jumped a high curb, and stopped hard in the lot's main drive. The front right wheel clipped a tree through the mulch. No safety features engaged. There was significant damage to the vehicle, and the impact badly bruised my right hand. I am very safety conscious, easy on the pedals, and cruise into stops. We have used the travel assist but not the cruise control function (which may have been set when the car was in transit). Several similar cases are reported on social media, with the leading theory being the accidental engagement of haptic steering wheel controls. A police officer took a report, but it has not been made available. I filed a report with the manufacturer and look forward to your investigation.

I have an open recall on my vehicle. It is related to software defect that can affect the dashboard display that can affect the rear view camera. Currently, no remedy available. However, my main source of income comes from the ride share program. I won’t be able to earn income if my vehicle is not available. The manufacturers repeats “no remedy at this point. Need to wait.” It’s very difficult to just wait without timeframe of when it will be available for fixing it. It’s almost a month since the recall was placed. Please help in getting this resolved. Steering wheel wrapping is prematurely peeling due to the material used. I’ve seen and heard many complaints about this. Cars are only a few years old.

Twice after picking up the vehicle from the dealership for a recall or service I've stopped at the light near the dealer. On seeing green in accelerate and mid-way through the turn power will fail. I release the accelerator pedal once or twice and power returns.

I was halfway into a parking stall. There was a cement sign post at the end of the stall and a truck facing me opposite. About six feet from the post the car accelerated and glanced off the post and hit the truck slightly. It happened very fast but I am 99% sure the car accelerated on its own. We did a search afterwards and found many reports of our model doing similar things.

The car milage dropped Significantly, i took it to Tracy VW shop and they did not repair it , took it to Dublin VW and they did took 2 weeks replacing a battery cell then they found another defective electric cable that is on backorder with no eta for replacement , i am paying for gas and for fixing on a loaner car rather that drive my own car

After coming to a stop or slowing the vehicle down to under 5 mph, the vehicle occasionally does not respond to the accelerator being pressed. When this happens, I can take my foot completely off the accelerator and press the accelerator to the floor several times before the car will begin moving. It generally starts moving again after a few seconds. There are no error messages displayed on the dash, and the car remains in the drive mode. This has happened when attempting to make unprotected left turns; I luckily have not been hit, but its led to several close calls where my car creeps across oncoming traffic instead of accelerating as I keep pressing the pedal.

Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season 255/45 R20 105T After about a month of owning my car, I noticed brown stains on my tires which made them look very old and worn and dirty. I tried washing them off and the stains kept coming back. I emailed the manufacturer and they told me that the browning on the tires was a normal reaction to extreme UV exposure or it could happen over time. I pointed this out to the dealership and they told me it was just dirt. Since this was a brand new car I did not believe the tires should look like this nor have I ever seen tires on a brand new car look this way. After doing a little more research I was convinced the tires were defective. Then in April I ended up getting a screw in one of my tires and it went completely flat and was unrepairable. The tires seemed defective right after I purchased the car and I do not feel like they are safe. The fact that this nail went through the tire when the nail wasn't even sharp indicates to me that the rubber is somehow defective. I've told this to the dealer and the manufacturer and they both tell me that this is normal and tires are supposed to be discolored and it's normal to have the brown stains on them.

Car suddenly developed a warning which read 'Warnings and information not available. Drive with greater care!'. All headlights, DRLs, and turn signals failed to illuminate. This caused a safety hazard while driving at dusk because there were no warnings regarding the lack of headlights and we didn't notice until it was too late and we were on a dark road.

Driver door locks cycles while driving. Sometimes door will open while car is moving.

While the vehicle was in driving on the street, and when we stopped at the streetlight the vehicle went to parking mode, and the drivers door suddenly got opened.

While driving my vehicle it shifts into “park”, not sure if it is an electrical issue, transmission, or breaking issue. I have taken to the dealership for repairs they worked on the driver seat sensors, was at the dealership for 10 days. Three days after repairs the same issue occurred, took back to the dealership and they informed me that they could not recreate the issue(possible electrical issue), the service advisor suggested that I should not move around in the seat while driving to correct the issue. Again about three days later the same issue occurred again, this time in heavy traffic and it was difficult to get into “drive”, I have returned the car back to the dealership. At this time, I asked the service manager to take a ride with me, he seemed very surprised when the issue occurred with him in the drivers seat, he also had a hard time getting the car into drive. This seems like a big safety concern for a vehicle to rear end my car.

Upon getting the car from the dealership, on second day of driving the car started showing a notification that I need to close my driver door and buckle up when I'd start the car with all doors closed and try to change the gear. The car would stall and show that on behind steering wheel display. Only upon buckling up the car would allow me to put it in Drive or Reverse. The notification would not come on every time. Took it to service and it's been there for a month. They cannot fix the problem. Telling me it has to do with seat belt and airbag sensors. I have been driving a loaner and it doesn't have that issue. Seeing many people describing the same issue in online forums.

The horn stopped working without notice; only found out when I was in a near-miss accident and it did not honk. Never got alert or any other notice about horn not working. A car cut me off and I pushed the horn and no noise. I had the car towed to the VW dealership and they ended up replacing the horn because it did not work. I do not know when it stopped working.

The front seats go back and recline to an almost flat position randomly. This has hurt my kids' knees while they've been seating in the back seat. It is also very scary and they yell and scream in pain and panic. There is no pattern to the moving, it happens while stationary. Dealers have refused to look at it because they cannot replicate it at the time of the service call. I have pictures and videos of some instances but they are random. No warning or alerts pop up. This has been happening randomly since I bought the car one year ago.

The infotayment system goes completely dark while driving and reboots by itself after a few minutes. This has happened while I'm driving on the highway at 65MPH and on the roads at 40MPH, happens at any speeds. It happens randomly without a warning. Everything simply shuts down. I have videos of two different occasions that it happened. The dealership ran a diagnostic and said nothing came up. It happened again and same thing - diagnostic and nothing comes up. It happened again, I called VW NA and sent videos but they said it has been resolved. It happened again. Not sure what to do next.

The rear passenger door does not close properly. I first noticed this when I got home from the dealer the day I purchased it. I contacted them right away but the dealer said there was nothing they could do. 6 weeks later the doors were recalled and I got the recall fix. It kept happening. The dealer will not take any further action because they cannot replicate when I drop off for a service call. They won't even take the car. I have photos and videos. I called VW NA and they said there is no issue. Puts safety of passengers at risk.

Preconditions: Phone was connected to Infotainment via Wireless Android Auto and reproducing content from the phone. A/C was on fan. Driving on congested highway at around 35 MPH with stop and go segments. Incident: Answered a phone call by pressing answer on infotainment and took the handsfree phone call. Conversation had been ongoing for maybe 10 minutes. Then I noticed I was not being heard by the other party. Hung up. Party called again and the same thing happened. In a stopped segment I placed the call. Noticed same issue. Then I looked up and the center infotainment screen was black. I then pressed the power button for 10 seconds to reset the infotainment. At that point the driver information screen ( what replaces the instrument cluster) had a somewhat different color scheme. At this point I decided to turn off all ACC functions (were not in use, just on). Suddenly this screen (driver information) turned off - no indications of ACC, Speed, etc. were available. Only the basic drive mode indicators were on showing I was in drive (this part seems independent). No negative effects to the drive were noticed ( I could accelerate, stop and steer). Some minutes later the entire system rebooted and all indications were back. Some warnings about driver assistance disabled were shown on the driver information screen. I have seen some center infotainment resets in the past, but having the driver information screen (or instrument cluster) turn off like that I find extremely unnervi

VW/Audi have known this is an issue for years but do not seem to prioritize a fix. The front passenger window often goes down first when trying to close it. I am pleading with the NHTSA to view this is a safety concern and issue a recall to force the manufacturer into what should be a simple software fix. If I deem someone approaching my open passenger window and I attempt to close my window only for it to open more, that welcomes a lot of potentially unsafe situations. Here are two examples. The individual could take something off the passenger seat and get away before the driver has a chance to react safely. Or worse, they could possibly open the door if they view this as an invitation to get in. Every other car manufacturer has power windows that work correctly. This isn't hard and is laziness by VW Auto Group to fix it until their hand is forced, especially given that the other 3 windows work just fine.

I was driving down a highway traveling 59 mph around 5:20AM when my infotainment system and lights inside all went dark. The speedometer stayed lit up but changed to an alternate color while I was traveling. I slowed down to make sure I could brake and that all was working. Within about 20-30 seconds the whole system restarted and came back online. This was not necessarily a safety hazard, however the sheer shock of it made cause for my safety because I reacted to it in a somewhat panic sort of way by braking rapidly. I found this forum where others have reported the exact same thing. There were no warning lamps messages or any notice of the occurrence. It all started back up as if nothing happened. VEHICLE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND INFOTAINMENT DISPLAYS POWER OFF WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. NO INFORMATION REGARDING VEHICLE SPEED OR CONTROLS IS DISPLAYED ON THE SCREEN FOR SEVERAL MINUTES WHILE THE VEHICLE SYSTEM RESTARTS. AFTER 5-7 MINUTES, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND INFOTAINMENT DISPLAY WILL POWER BACK ON. THIS HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES WITHOUT A SPECIFIC CAUSE OR INDICATION LEADING UP TO THE PROBLEM.

2023 VW ID.4 - While driving the passenger door latch started making a clicking noise and door became ajar triggering a door ajar light on dash information center. Passenger held door from completely opening until it was safe to pull over. Door latch continued to make clicking noises and continued to open itself. A google search revealed recall campaign "Door handle recall 57J5 [NHTSA 23V312] for MY21 and MY22" It was raining out when this happened. Volkswagen clearly hasn't fixed this issue for MY23.

The windshield on the car has some severe warping that distorts the view of the driver. It causes optical illusions and dizziness. The dealer thus far refuses to fix the issue. The issue can be easily researched and it's easy to find others complaining of the issue.

My ID4 windshield chips very easily and in fact i have had it for less then 1 year and small rocks on freeway damaged windshield and had to replace it out of my pocket. Even after getting new windshield it’s chipping again. The glass is hazardous as i am afraid it will break easily when compared with other cars. Cars speedometer turn off due to VW software glitch while driving so in the middle of freeway drivers would have no idea on speed and can cause accidents.

After parking on a slope, front of car uphill, slope of about 15-20 degrees, placing car in park, the car would roll back once out of car. It happened once and went up against another car, minor scrape, but I was almost pinned. I moved the car to a different spot with similar slope, it happed again. The wheels were rotating, had to jump in passenger side and push hand onto brake. It had happened once before, but went up against a curb, but I had thought I had parked poorly. But in retrospect, likely rolled. Tried to call/contact VW, but it is a Friday and they do not accept safety calls Friday evening through Tuesday.

I submitted a previous report regarding my passenger front door attempting to open while the vehicle was in motion. Yesterday the door fully opened under motion with my wife as a passenger. It sounds like the latch kept cycling until the door opened. My wife just prior to departure decided to start video recording while driving as we both believed the dealer may not be able to replicate the incidents. We have recording of this we can email. The door does attempt to open several times on some days, some days it doesn't. My vehicle according to the dealer is not a part of the affected vin's for the recall. It has not been back to the dealer for evaluation and repair yet. This has become an extremely dangerous situation as an owner or passenger.

Passenger window moves in opposite direction. Specifically, when the passenger window is partially down, trying to close the window from the driver side switch results in the window traveling in the opposite direction. This is a safety concern. If there are children or dogs in the passenger side, or if there is someone outside trying to get in, the window opening instead of closing is very unexpected and is a concern. Brought to the dealer and reproduced. Said they “fixed it”. Then when I showed them again, they said this was by design. How can a switch cause the window to open when intending to close? Easily reproducible. This is a defect and safety issue. There are no warning lights, documentation, or otherwise explaining this unexpected behavior.

Has been inspected by manufacturer 5. There was a warning light that doors weren’t locked but unclear which door(s) was causing the issue.

Driver-side door opens and closes by itself while driving or when the car is stopped. Driver-side door also locks and unlocks itself while driving or when the car is stopped. Unable to unlock driver-side door from the outside of the car. Some times the driver side door will not open from the inside all the way. Before, this was just a frustrating inconvenience, but yesterday, it became a scary, safety hazard. I was stopped in the middle of the street during peak hour traffic at a green light unable to start my car because the driver-side door had opened itself, but I could not open the door all the way to close it and the car would not let me start because it thought the door was open. Even after I was finally able to open my door and tried to close it, the car still would not start. I had to try repeatedly to start the car back up before it finally started. This happened for several minutes while I had my small children in the backseat and other cars were honking around us and nearly hit us. I have told the dealership and taken the car to get serviced, but the part to fix the door is back ordered with an unknown delivery date. The dealership says that many of their 2023 ID.4 customers are facing the same door issue and they've reported their frustrations with VW headquarters. This needs to be investigated and VW should issue a formal recall.

Vehicle computer system reboots while driving. Everything on dash goes black.

I was backing up from a stand still on a parking lot when the car braked extremely hard. There briefly was a message on the center dash with the word emergency on it. The message went away immediately and the car continued to work normal. My neck is still hurting hours later from the very hard brake. During the whole incident there was no other car moving and no person or other object anywhere in the path of the car. I have not yet brought the car to the dealer but will do so next week.

After leaving a stop sign and making a right turn I heard what sounded like a clunk with an audible tone. This was followed by the interior lights turning on and a red door open symbol on the dashboard display (see attached photo). A few hundred feet later I parked my car at work and took photos of the passenger front door ajar as if attempting to unlatch while in motion. I read of a recall (campaign number 23V312) for 2021 -2022 Volkswagen ID4's for this issue. My dealer stated my vehicle is not included in the recall though it's having the same issue. I'm scheduling a service visit in soon.
