Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing: Seats › Mid/Rear Assembly › Recliner

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing reported this defect to federal regulators on Oct 20, 2026 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 228,367. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2022-2026 Sienna Hybrid 7-passenger vehicles. The second-row seat backs may fail to remain secured in the event of a crash.

The risk

A seat back that is not secured may fail to properly protect an occupant during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

The remedy

Dealers will update the supplemental restraint system (SRS) electronic control unit (ECU) software. For vehicles equipped with the "Mobility as a Service" (MaaS) package, dealers will replace the two second-row seat backs. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 7, 2026. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 26TB24 and 26TA24.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 26V690000.
