NHTSA campaign 26V513000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Volvo Trucks North America: Exterior Lighting

Volvo Trucks North America reported this defect to federal regulators on Aug 6, 2026 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 2,071. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2026-2027 VNL (4) and VNR (4) vehicles. The center roof marker lights may fail to illuminate. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

The risk

Marker lights that fail to illuminate can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Dealers will replace the center roof marker light, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed September 22, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Volvo Trucks' customer service at 800-528-6586. Volvo Trucks' number for this recall is RVXX2608. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning August 13, 2026.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 26V513000.
