NHTSA campaign 24V791000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Volvo Trucks North America: Electrical System › Software

Volvo Trucks North America reported this defect to federal regulators on Oct 23, 2024 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 1. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling one 2025 New VN truck. A software error in the instrument cluster may cause the anti-lock brake system (ABS) warning light not to illuminate. As such, this vehicle fails to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 121, "Air Brake Systems."

The risk

An ABS warning light that fails to illuminate will not alert the driver of an ABS malfunction, which could increase the risk of a crash.

The remedy

A dealer will reprogram the software, free of charge. Owners may contact Volvo Customer Service at 1-800-528-6586. Volvo's number for this recall is RVXX2410.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 24V791000.
