NHTSA campaign 24V213000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Prevost Car (US) Inc.: Fuel System, Diesel › Pre-heater

Prevost Car (US) Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Mar 20, 2024 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 37. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Prevost Car (US) Inc. (Prevost) is recalling certain 2010 H3-45 VIP, 2024 H3-45 and X3-45 vehicles. The coolant heaters may generate excessive exhaust gas and overheat.

The risk

Excessive exhaust gas may increase the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning, and an overheating heater increases the risk of a fire. Additionally, a vehicle fire may require an evacuation procedure in an uncontrolled traffic situation, increasing the risk of injury to passengers.

The remedy

Vehicle owners are advised not to operate the heaters until they have been repaired. Prevost will inspect the coolant heaters, replace the damaged components, and clean the heater's internal components, as necessary. In addition, Prevost will adjust the air to fuel ratio. All repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 17, 2024. Owners may contact Prevost customer service at 1-866-870-2046. Prevost's number for this recall is SR24-13.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 24V213000.
