NHTSA campaign 24V179000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Prevost Car (US) Inc.: Electrical System › 12v/24v/48v Battery › Cables

Prevost Car (US) Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Mar 6, 2024 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 79. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Prevost Car (US) Inc. (Prevost) is recalling certain 2024 H3-45 and H3-45 VIP vehicles. The grommet that protects the battery cables passing through a metallic panel was improperly installed, allowing the cables to chafe on the edges of the panel and potentially short circuit.

The risk

An electrical short circuit increases the risk of a fire. Additionally, a vehicle fire may require an evacuation procedure in an uncontrolled traffic situation, increasing the risk of injury to passengers.

The remedy

Prevost will inspect and reinstall the grommet, if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 8, 2024. Owners may contact Prevost customer service at 1-866-870-2046. Prevost's number for this recall is SR24-12.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 24V179000.
