Chrysler (FCA US, LLC): Structure › Body › Roof and Pillars

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) reported this defect to federal regulators on Aug 3, 2023 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 44,708. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer vehicles. The upper B-pillar interior trim may not be fully seated and could interfere with the side curtain air bag (SABIC) deployment. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 226, "Ejection Mitigation."

The risk

A compromised deployment of the SABIC can reduce occupant protection in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

The remedy

Dealers will inspect and reseat or replace the trim pieces as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 17, 2023. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 76A.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 23V545000.
