Braun Ambulances: Latches/Locks/Linkages › Doors › Latch
Braun Ambulances reported this defect to federal regulators on Sep 30, 2022 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 1,240. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Braun Ambulance (Braun) is recalling certain 2018-2022 Chief XL, Express, Express Plus, Liberty, Super Chief, TLC, and Signature Series ambulances. The rear door top striker bolts may become loose and dislodge while the vehicle is in motion.
The risk
Dislodged striker bolts can cause the rear door latch to fail, allowing the door to open during a crash, and increasing the risk of injury.
The remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace the striker bolts, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on October 17, 2022. Owners may contact Braun's customer service at 1-877-344-9990. Braun's number for this recall is 22-001.

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 22V751000.
