NHTSA campaign 22V307000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Electra Meccanica Vehicles Corp: Electrical System › Body Control Module › Software

Electra Meccanica Vehicles Corp reported this defect to federal regulators on May 6, 2022 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 129. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Electra Meccanica Vehicles Corp (ElectraMeccanica) is recalling certain 2021 Solo vehicles. In the event of a rear turn signal wire harness short-circuit, the flashing frequency of the unaffected turn signal lights would not change, failing to alert the driver that a turn signal has failed. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

The risk

Driving without a functional rear turn signal can increase the risk of a crash.

The remedy

ElectraMeccanica will update the body control module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 22, 2022. Owners may contact ElectraMeccanica customer service at 1-888-457-SOLO. ElectraMeccanica's number for this recall is 22SC01.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 22V307000.
