2021 Electrameccanica Solo G3

Defect. Electra Meccanica Vehicles Corp (Electra) is recalling certain 2019 Solo G2 and 2021-2023 Solo G3 vehicles. A defect in the motor controller and inverter or the battery controller may cause the electric motor to shut down and cause a sudden loss of drive power.

Risk. A sudden loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Electra will repurchase the affected vehicles. Owner notification letters were mailed April 14, 2023. Owners may contact Electra customer service at 1-888-457-SOLO (7656).

Defect. Electra Meccanica Vehicles Corp (ElectraMeccanica) is recalling certain 2021 Solo vehicles. In the event of a rear turn signal wire harness short-circuit, the flashing frequency of the unaffected turn signal lights would not change, failing to alert the driver that a turn signal has failed. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Risk. Driving without a functional rear turn signal can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy. ElectraMeccanica will update the body control module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 22, 2022. Owners may contact ElectraMeccanica customer service at 1-888-457-SOLO. ElectraMeccanica's number for this recall is 22SC01.

The Solo Heating and Cooling Unit controller was not working due to the absence of electrical power. This has an effect on the driver's visibility without ventilation. I had communicated with the manufacturer, but I was not given an answer.
