NHTSA campaign 22V008000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Oshkosh Corporation: Fuel System, Diesel › Fuel Injection System › Fuel Rail

Oshkosh Corporation reported this defect to federal regulators on Jan 11, 2022 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 1,608. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Oshkosh Corporation (Oshkosh) is recalling certain 2019-2022 S-Series vehicles. The fuel tubes between the fuel rail and the injector for cylinders 4, 5 and 6 may be susceptible to cracking, resulting in a high pressure fuel leak.

The risk

A high pressure fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may increase the risk of a fire.

The remedy

On engines with 75 miles or less, dealers will install vibration isolators to the fuel tubes. Engines with more than 75 miles will receive new fuel tubes with vibration isolators. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed February 1, 2022. Owners may contact Oshkosh customer service at 1-8088-686-7278.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 22V008000.
