Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC: Electrical System › Instrument Panel › Speedometer/Odometer
Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC reported this defect to federal regulators on Dec 3, 2020 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 23. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2020 Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque vehicles. A software error may cause the instrument cluster to randomly alternate the speedometer and odometer units between Miles Per Hour (MPH) and Kilometers Per Hour (KM/H) without driver input to the display unit. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Control and Displays."
The risk
The changing displays may cause driver distraction or confusion and possibly result in excessive speed, which can increase the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle software, free of charge. The recall began January 19, 2021. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is N516.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 20V751000.
