NHTSA campaign 20V719000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Newmar Corporation: Equipment › Appliance › Oven/Stove/Cooktop

Newmar Corporation reported this defect to federal regulators on Nov 20, 2020 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 710. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Newmar Corporation (Newmar) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Bay Star and Ventana, 2019 Ventana LE, 2020 Canyon Star, Dutch Star, Kountry Star and Super Star and 2021 Bay Star Sport motorhomes equipped with Dometic 3 burner cooking stoves. The stove's saddle valve securing bolt may be overtightened, possibly damaging the o-ring seal and causing a continuous gas leak.

The risk

A gas leak can increase the risk of a fire.

The remedy

Newmar will notify owners, and dealers will install a remedy kit of gaskets, washers, thread locker bolts, and two round orange labels, free of charge. The recall began January 18, 2021. Owners may contact Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300. Newmar's number for this recall is 20E 071.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 20V719000.
