NHTSA campaign 20V661000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Braun Ambulances: Seat Belts

Braun Ambulances reported this defect to federal regulators on Oct 27, 2020 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 291. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Braun Ambulances (Braun) is recalling certain 2017-2020 Demers TSE and EXE Ambulances for a problem with the seat belt system installed in the rear medical module of the ambulance at the side-facing bench seating positions. Continued use of affected upper seat belt harness may result in a partial or complete separation from its mounting.

The risk

Separation of the upper harness may increase the risk of injury to the occupant in the event of a crash.

The remedy

Braun Ambulances will notify owners, and dealers will remove and reinstall the harness mounting bolts with a modified configuration, free of charge. The recall began November 16, 2020. Owners may contact Braun Ambulances customer service at 1-877-344-9990.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 20V661000.
