Altec Industries Inc.: Engine and Engine Cooling › Exhaust System › Emission Control
Altec Industries Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Aug 25, 2020 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 17. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Altec Industries Inc. is recalling certain 2015-2018 LR7, ALB, AC18, AC23, and AC38 vehicles built on an International N9/N10 chassis. During an HC Desorb cycle, the vehicle's idle will rapidly rise causing an increase in pump flow. The increased pump flow can result in the moving speed of the boom changing.
The risk
The change in boom speed can result in unintended positioning of the boom, increasing the risk of injury.
The remedy
Altec will notify owners, and dealers install an update that will reprogram the low idle preset to 850 RPM, free of charge. The recall began October 16, 2020. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN 774.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 20V502000.
