NHTSA campaign 20V358000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Forest River, Inc.: Equipment › Other › Owners/Service/Other Manual

Forest River, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Jun 16, 2020 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 392. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Coachmen Galleria and PRISM, Forest River Forester, Battisti and Sunseeker and Dynamax Isata recreational vehicles built on Sprinter chassis with automatic transmission. The operator's manual does not correctly specify certain conditions under which the automatic parking function ("Auto-P") operates.

The risk

If the driver relies on the Auto-P function as described in the Operator's Manual, vehicle rollaway or movement may occur, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Forest River will notify owners, and Mercedes-Benz dealers will provide the correct description of the Auto-P function for the Operator's Manual, free of charge. The recall began June 25, 2020. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-800-348-7440 or Sprinter service at 1-877-762-8267. The booklet with correct information is also available online through Mercedes-Benz, free of charge.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 20V358000.
