NHTSA campaign 20V230000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Lode-King Industries Ltd: Equipment › Mechanical

Lode-King Industries Ltd reported this defect to federal regulators on Apr 22, 2020 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 2. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Lode-King Industries LTD. (Lode-King) is recalling certain 2015-2021 Prestige SDG53-2 step-deck semi-trailers. The cargo securing winches may not be properly mounted to the trailer. As a result, the cargo winch mount could fail and allow cargo to come loose.

The risk

If the mount fails, the cargo or load can fall off the trailer and become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Lode-King will notify owners, and dealers will replace the cargo winches with an updated version, free of charge. The recall began April 30, 2020. Owners may contact Lode-King customer service at 1-204-325-4345.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 20V230000.
