NHTSA campaign 19V921000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Aluminum Trailer Company: Equipment

Aluminum Trailer Company reported this defect to federal regulators on Dec 23, 2019 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 232. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Aluminum Trailer Company (ATC) is recalling certain 2016-2019 Quest Stacker trailers. The guide block may fail causing the car lift to drop into the tilt position.

The risk

While in tilt position, lift may become unseated from the ladder causing front end of lift to fall, increasing the risk of injury.

The remedy

ATC will notify owners and dealers will replace the existing guide blocks with an improved guide block made from Nylatron, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin February 10, 2020. Owners may contact ATC customer service at 1-877-441-2440, extension 342.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 19V921000.
