NHTSA campaign 19V628000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Jayco, Inc.: Trailer Hitches › Fifth Wheel Assembly

Jayco, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Aug 28, 2019 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 870. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Eagle HT fifth wheel trailers equipped with MORyde Orbital or You Turn Rubber Pin Box Wedge Kits. The pin boxes may have been equipped with bolts 1-3/4" in length when they should be equipped with 2" long bolts.

The risk

When the pin box is unlocked, the incorrect length bolts may allow the rotating pin box to rotate in two places, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Jayco will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the bolts and replace them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on September 18, 2019. Owners may contact MORyde customer service at 1-574-293-1581 or Jayco at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco's number for this recall is 9901435.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 19V628000.
