Great Dane Trailers: Service Brakes
Great Dane Trailers reported this defect to federal regulators on Oct 5, 2018 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 197. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Great Dane Trailers (Great Dane) is recalling certain 2019 Great Dane Everest CL Multi-Temp trailers equipped with Haldex automatic brake adjusters. During manufacturing, the adjuster anchor pins may not have been properly tightened, causing the pins to loosen or detach.
The risk
A detached anchor pin would cause the automatic brake adjusters to not properly adjust the brakes to compensate for brake pad wear. If not corrected, this could lead to reduced braking ability or loss of brakes, increasing the risk of a crash. Loose anchor pins could cause the automatic brake adjuster to jam, keeping it from returning to its rest position which may cause the brakes to drag, increasing the risk of a fire.
The remedy
Great Dane will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the anchor pin mounting bolts for the proper tightness, replacing any pins that are missing, free of charge. The recall began November 16, 2018. Owners may contact Great Dane customer service at 1-877-369-3493.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 18V700000.
