Honda (American Honda Motor Co.): Fuel System, Gasoline › Delivery › Hoses, Lines/Piping, and Fittings

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) reported this defect to federal regulators on Jul 13, 2017 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 32,233. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2017 Honda CR-V 2WD and AWD vehicles. The affected vehicles have a fuel supply pipe that may have been improperly manufactured, possibly resulting in the pipe disconnecting and leaking while driving.

The risk

If the pipe disconnects, the engine will stall, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, the disconnected pipe may leak fuel, which, in the presence of an ignition source, can increase the risk of a fire.

The remedy

Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel supply pipe, free of charge. The recall began August 31, 2017. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is KH1.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 17V442000.
