Aluminum Trailer Company: Latches/Locks/Linkages
Aluminum Trailer Company reported this defect to federal regulators on Feb 17, 2017 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 16. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Aluminum Trailer Company (ATC) is recalling certain 2017 bumper-pull Quest trailers equipped with the Stacker package and either three, 6000lb or two, 7000lb axles. In the affected vehicles, the trailer walls may flex and allow the lift platform to disengage from the safety lock. If this happens when the lifting chains are slack, the lift platform may unexpectedly drop.
The risk
If the platform unexpectedly drops, it can increase the risk of injury.
The remedy
ATC will notify owners, and dealers will install a flange to prevent the lift from slipping out of the safety lock, free of charge. The recall began on April 18, 2017. Owners may contact ATC customer service at 1-574-773-2440. ATC's number for this recall is STKR-LIFT.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 17V110000.
