Jayco, Inc.: Equipment › Recreational Vehicle/Trailer › Lpg Systems › Lines and Fittings

Jayco, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Jan 26, 2017 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 25. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2017 Eagle fifth-wheel recreational vehicles equipped with the dry camping option. In the affected vehicles, the LP manifold was mounted to the fifth wheel frame directly above the axle assembly and the suspension U-bolts. Impact from the axle can crack the LP manifold resulting in a propane gas leak.

The risk

An LP gas leak can increase the risk of a fire.

The remedy

Jayco will notify owners, and dealers will relocate the LP manifold, and inspect and replace the LP lines and fittings, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on February 24, 2017. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco's number for this recall is 9903342.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 17V056000.
