NHTSA campaign 15V531000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Thor Motor Coach: Equipment › Recreational Vehicle/Trailer

Thor Motor Coach reported this defect to federal regulators on Aug 19, 2015 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 98. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Tuscany XTE motorhomes manufactured March 28, 2013, to February 27, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the dinette convertible table top insert may slide out of position allowing the insert to flip up if it is sat on.

The risk

If the insert flips up when sat on, the occupant may fall, increasing the risk of injury.

The remedy

TMC has notified owners, and dealers will install an additional support bracket to slide the table insert into, preventing the insert from flipping up, free of charge. The recall began on September 1, 2015. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-500-1020. TMC's number for this recall is RC000104.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 15V531000.
