Antilock braking system has failed and the alarm continually goes on and off while going down the highway. The dealership has told me the parts to repair this issue are unavailable. This is the second time this occured. The first was at about 40,000 miles and now the second was at 80,000 miles. I have significant concerns with operating the vehicle with the system turning on and off but Ram has yet to provide a solution. Doing some research this appears to be a common problem that everyone with 2500 and 3500 Rams between 2012 and 2018 are experiencing.

Anti Lock Brake light is on. Truck was taken in with only 13,445 miles on it. Was told it needed an ABS Pump Motor Control. Was also told after speaking to mechanics at two other Ram dealers that it would also need the module besides needing the pump. I was told it would be 5 hours labor at $150.00 per hour plus parts. after researching this problem I have come to find that a large number of 2018 Ram 2500 pickup trucks have this issue. Seems like it should be considered for recall. Thanks, Randy Rigatti

2018 RAM 2500 - JULY 2022 - TRUCK MILEAGE @ 48000 MILES THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING WITH AN ALERT TONE BEGAN GOING ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO DODGE DEALERSHIP TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT THE "ABS MODULE" WAS MALFUNCTIONING. I WAS GIVEN A PRICE FOR THE REPAIR AND WHEN I ASKED THEM TO PROCEED, I WAS TOLD THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE ANY WHERE IN NORTH AMERICA. I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD HAVE REPLACEMENT IN DECEMBER 2022. I CHECKED BACK IN JANUARY 2023 AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE MID-MARCH 2023 BEFORE THEY WOULD ARRIVE. I CHECKED THE FIRST OF APRIL 2023 AND NOW AM BEING TOLD NONE ARE EXPECTED UNTIL AUGUST 2023. SO IT WILL BE OVER A YEAR BEFORE I CAN GET THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES AND TRACTION CONTROL WORKING PROPERLY ON THE 3/4 TON TRUCK. WHILE I CAN DRIVE IT, IT IS NOT NEARLY AS SAFE WITHOUT THESE KEY SAFETY FEATURES NOT WORKING OR WORKING ONLY INTERMITTENTLY. THERE IS ALSO THE CONSTANT SOUND OF THE ALERT TONE AS THE SYSTEM CYCLES ALMOST NON-STOP BETWEEN WORKING AND NOT WORKING. IT DOES NOT SEEM THAT DODGE/RAM IS TAKING THIS SAFETY CONCERN SERIOUSLY AND HAVE OFFERED NO SOLUTIONS TO RESOLVE THIS KNOWN ISSUE. THANK YOU!

ABS and traction control failed causing me to lose control on an icy road. I was able to regain control without hitting anything or having an accident but now I get an intermittent ABS control module service warning. When this appears the antilock brakes, the cruise control and traction control do not work. Once the light goes off all systems return to normal operation. It is intermittent and unpredictable. Parts are on National back order, I do not think replacing all of these parts is the issue. As dealers like to do… they just replace the whole system without identifying what the issue is. I do not think I should have to pay for replacing parts that are working properly. FCA needs to recall all of these systems and replace them at their expense!

C0020-01 "ABS Pump Motor Control-General Electrical Failure" is a trouble code found on the truck I just bought. That seems to be a common occurrence per Ram/Cummins forums. The truck is from a salvage auction, so I cannot say exactly what took place or about personal injury.

My truck was purchased new by me in January of 2019. At approximately 47,000 miles my ABS system failed and I payed to replace the ABS pump/module per manufacturer recommendation. Now in January of 2023 at approximately 95,000 miles the same part has failed on the truck. The ABS system does not function properly causing a substantial safety risk. In addition, I have been told that the part required for repair (ABS pump/module) is out of stock and is not able to be ordered until August of 2023 at which time i will be required to pay out of pocket for the repair. Not only is the time frame for the repair part unacceptable. It is also unacceptable that a quality part has not been supplied. ABS pump/module is not a wear item that should be replaced in such a short timespan.

I have had the ABS hydraulic module replaced several times by Firkins Automotive, now with the same Faulty Hydraulic module failing once again. The dealer had told me after the 2nd time this was replaced it was “junk” parts and there was no permanent repair. When this goes bad you lose all ABS function and traction control causing braking to be unstable and truck to have no traction control. On the dash is the ABS light, traction light and BRAKE light illuminated all the time with warning chimes.

ABS module and traction control starting going off while driving. I took the car to the dealer but refused to fix it despite being under warranty at the time. The ABS and traction control lights go on/off suddenly and my cruise control shuts down and I loose ABS braking which is CRITICAL. this can cause an accident and I am not the only one with this issue. 2019+ Rams have already been recalled for the same issue. I need to get fixed ASAP, I HAVE CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH ME! Issue keeps getting worse and lights come on more and more frequent, so most of my driving is without proper brakes.

Service ABS and electrical brake system failure lights come on randomly and repeatedly. This also disengages the cruise control when it happens. Sometimes the warning light stays on for a few minutes, other times it flashes on and off and dings each time. This is a very common issue for this year of Ram truck from people that I know and from the research I have done. At my previous employer, we had 2 other rams the same year with the same issue. The ABS system will not work with this problem - I was driving and my vehicle skid due to there not being ABS. I have tried on multiple occasions since my truck had about 85k miles on it to get this problem repair. The dealerships all told me they dont have the parts for a repair

The ABS/HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit) failed again. This will be the 3rd HCU installed in my vehicle. The previous repair was completed 10 days ago. I have an open case with Stellantis, since the parts are on extreme backorder (3+ Months). My safety is at risk, because when this component fails, it directly impacts the ABS Brakes, Traction Control, Cruise Control, Parking Assistance, etc. The dealer has confirmed the issue. I am unsure what diagnostics the dealer has performed on the failed part. There are multiple warning lamps associate with BRAKE, ABS, Traction Control, Cruise Control, Parking Assist, Service Electronic Breaking System, etc.

Service Electronic Breaking System Light came on March 25, 2023. took truck to Ram dealership March 30th and was told the ABS Pump is going out so breaks won’t work correctly if I have to stop quickly. The replacement won’t be available until August 2023. Called another Ram dealership and was told it’s an engineering problem they are working on. Either way it’s a problem having a truck I can’t safely drive for 5 months due to the breaks not functioning properly. This should be a recall, my truck has 62,000 miles on it. It is going to cost $1360.00 to fix it in August.

The HCU has failed on my truck. This was diagnosed by my local dealer on 26 Oct 2022. I was told this is a known issue with my 2018 Ram 2500. The part has been on a national backorder since the diagnosis was completed. It is now 29 March, and my truck is still not repaired due to the part not being available. In my opinion, based on my own research, this should be a national recall on all of the 2018 Ram 2500 and the manufacturer should be required to cover the full costs of the repairs.

When driving our 2018 RAM 2500 diesel pickup the message on the dash instrument panel intermittently flashes the message "Service Electronic Brake System." then the ABS and traction control symbols light up on the dash. The RAM dealer diagnosed the problem to the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) and said it needs to be replaced. The dealer also said until this is fixed the trailer electronic brakes, truck ABS, traction control and cruise control will not work. Please see the RAM dealer attached diagnosis. The dealer also said they can't order the part until 8/16/2023, the part is currently back ordered because so may RAM pickups have the same problem. So I have a very expensive truck that I can't safely use for what I bought it for, to haul a heavy trailer that has electronic brakes controlled by the vehicle.

Service lights for ABS and traction control systems constantly going on and off during vehicle use, these system failures disable cruise control systems. Truck is at dealer and they have said it needs new hydraulic control unit and ABS parts totaling over $2000 in parts alone, without an idea of when the parts will be available. This seems to be a common failure as I have read many posts of other Ram owners with the same issues.

In December of 2022 my abs light came on. Took truck to dealership to diagnose the problem. I was informed that it was the abs module or abs pump. I was told to replace both parts because the code it’s reporting there is no way to determine which part is bad. Ram has the parts back ordered until August. there is a definite difference the way the truck handles especially with a trailer. The tuck also handles terrible in adverse conditions as the traction control is rendered useless when the abs light is on.

I have a 2018 ram diesel 4x4 tradesman .around 19,000 miles my service antilock brake system light comes on and off and Abs , traction control. Took it where I bought it and of course the parts was out of warranty so they told me they don’t know if and when my parts will ever come in. But if they do it’s going to cost me 1500 $ and change to fix it. I think for the money I paid for my truck it should have a working brake system in place and should not fail with 19,000 miles on it for no good reason. So this is the million dollar question do I drive this potentially dangerous vehicle? Will it stop? Will traction control work? I paid a lot of money for a truck that I can’t even buy parts for if I wanted to fix it. So keep in mind the safety stuff on this truck is designed to work with the weight of the truck and all the torque it has. Oh yea if you’re brave you could buy used ones on e- bay for $150 dollars. What a joke! Sorry for rambling on. Just how important are brakes? I think dodge should do the right thing and fix these issue’s because it’s their product that is failing. I guess I have to drive a potentially dangerous vehicle. Stay safe.

I revered my truck up a slight incline in reverse in 4 wheel drive. After I stopped in reverse I removed my vehicle out of 4 wheel drive back into 2 wheel drive. I put the transmission in park and removed my key. I unloaded items from the back of the truck. During this period the truck began to move forward down the incline building up speed as it went. It struck a tree stump and came to rest there. No one was in the vehicle and I confirmed when I got in it was still in the parked position. ABS and Traction control lights on for a know issue involving the HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit) and ABS Module. My 3/4 ton truck has no ABS and no Traction control and I live in Michigan! It is dangerous and RAM has no answers for me as the parts are on back order and no real estimate of when they are available. This is frustrating to say the least. Especially when a quick internet search will show that 1000's upon 1000's of RAM owners are having the same issue. If this is a known problem, why is RAM not fixing it? Why did they continue to produce these trucks with a known safety issue? I ha e filed a case with RAM Cares and nothing is being done. I have been a faithful RAM/Dodge customer my whole life and I don't think RAM will be my next truck. This unresolved and potentially dangerous known issue has taken my loyalty away. This must get resolved! I have been fighting to try and get this fixed since September of 2022!!!! It is now March of 2023!!! I was unable to use my 2018 truck to drive in Michigan winter because it is unsafe to drive. If I get in an accident with my truck, with RAM knowing I have an issue and will not fix it, are they responsible for injury/loss of life/property damage??? My lawyer sure thinks so.

Constant ABS and ESC failure. truck experiences constant ABS failure. Warning for ABS and Electronic Stability control continually flashes and sends audible alarm when vehicle is operating, multiple times per MINUTE (sometime 20+ times per MINUTE). Vehicle was taken to dealer. Upon arrival at dealer was already aware of the issue and stated this was a known and common problem and that ABS module and HCU would need to be replaced, PRIOR to any diagnostic work being completed. Dealer completed diagnostic work and confirmed ABS module and HCU was defective and needed to be replaced at customer cost as Chrysler/Dodge/Ram refused to voluntarily cover/recall this part even though it was widespread known issue. However dealer stated that parts were on National back order and they had a long wait list. Dealer could not give timeframe but stated it would be 6+ months, that was over 1 yr ago. Part still shows as back order. My research has confirmed dealer statement that this is common wide spread issue for this make/model/yr due to defective parts. Any assistance possible would be appreciated at Ram continues to drivers at risk everyday by failing to voluntarily recall part or even make parts available so repair can be completed

This complaint is based on the repeated failure of the vehicle's ABS/Traction control system and the lack of a repair solution from Ram. The failure starts as an infrequent (once per trip or so) fault and immediate clear of the ABS system with an audible alarm and dashboard message. Over the course of a few hundred miles the problem worsens to the point where it it faulting as often as every 1-1/2 to 2 seconds. (It is like driving with the seatbelt warning going off). Sometimes it will stay faulted or cleared for several seconds to minutes at a time. In the beginning of the failure process it seemed to go away once the engine got fully warm, after about 10 minutes of driving. This problem was diagnosed and repaired at a diesel specialty garage with replacement of the ABS Control Module and Electric Stability Control Unit. Reprogramming was performed by a Ram Technician. After about 7000 miles the problem returned, following the same failure pattern. The same shop inspected and and repaired a loose connector, another known deficiency in the system. However, this didn't fix the issue. The alarm started before I moved the vehicle (after paying for the repair). At that point I was told that there was no solution, and in fact there were four other trucks there with the same issue. The parts are under warranty but I am left paying for labor to install equipment that seems will fail fairly shortly. And I am left with a completely unreliable ABS system. The failure doesnt seem depend

The ABS and Traction Control lights constantly blink on and off while driving, causing cruise control to shut off and an audible ding inside the cab, every time the lights flash. I am concerned that since the ABS module is malfunctioning, that the brakes may lock up or not engage when they are supposed to, and I will not have anti lock feature if I happen to need it. Aside from the annoyance of the dinging constantly, and the cruise control disengaging, I feel this is or will become a serious hazard. I have read that RAM has had several ABS related issues, and I don't understand why this is not recalled yet.
