U connect radio system / screen delaminating/ radio makes phone calls to 911 and other numbers on its own. Controls a/c and heat turns those off and on without anyone touching the controls very annoying, distraction to driver also causes backup camera not to work.
2018 Ram 1500 complaints
Owner reports filed with NHTSA about this vehicle, newest first and reproduced as filed. They are unverified accounts: one proves nothing, and a pattern across many is the thing worth reading. Back to the full 2018 record →
Touch Screen on radio has peeled up and is bouncing all around from navigation, heat/air, radio and will not power off. Cannot use any function properly or connect the USB functionality. The dealership informed me it was a problem with all 2018 models and we would have to replace the entire screen. This is our opinion should be a recall on the model.
The touch screen in my vehicle, that controls everything from heat& A/C, GPS, radio, heated seats/steering wheel, and also connects with my phone. It automatically changes constantly without warning causing me to have to switch back or turn off what it may have turned on. It changes my directions when I use it to go to unfamiliar places forcing me to briefly take my eyes off the road to navigate the screen.
The Uconnect 8.4" has a delamination problem that causes the screen to act like it's being touched. This causes distractions because the seats vent/heat turn on/off. The radio station changes frequently. It makes calls from your phone using Bluetooth and the only way to stop it is by using your phone which causes distractions. This is a known problem based on Google searches and Ram/Chrysler should fix this issue before ppl are injured/killed while driving. The u connect screen controls, climate, hazard lights, phone, and other apps which is a huge problem and safety issue.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the service electronic control warning light was illuminated and the vehicle went into Limp Mode. The contact was able to drive to his residence while experiencing the failure. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The mechanic cleared the code. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure was experienced three days later. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The mechanic cleared the fault code and reset the computer. The vehicle was repaired but continued to experience failure again three days later. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer for a third time and again the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure but informed the contact that the vehicle needed to have the pressure checked. The dealer stated that the equipment to service the vehicle was not available to them. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact took the vehicle to a second local dealer: Baxter Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Papillion (14920 Crest Road, Omaha, NE 68138: (402) 819-6852) and was informed that the VIN was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The dealer also informed the contact that the turbo needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reason
Exhaust manifold bolt issue causing exhaust leak. This is a known issue for these engines and Ram will do nothing about the problem. In most areas an exhaust leak because of their defect will cause non inspection pass.
The in-dash audio system is shorting out. GPS will not work; U-Connect cannot make or receive calls (safety issue); U-Connect will make random phone calls over and over again, causing the driver to try and stop the calls while driving (safety issue); radio changes constantly between radio, Sirius, Aux and Phone (you cannot turn it off). It also affects the a/c and heat. I cannot believe this issue has not been recalled. I understand it is a real problem in the Ram trucks. Dodge needs to take care of this immediately! I do not drive the truck much because it is dangerous.
The Uconnect display system is delaminating and it is causing the computer system to randomly start turning systems on and off as well as not allowing the navigation system to function properly. The air conditioner is effected as well as the radio and CarPlay system.
I have Ram 1500 year 2018 , my Uconnect screen is delaminated and having issue with touch and it is working by itself selecting options and also turning on heat and increasing by itself and also when the screen is working by itself the back camera doesn’t turn on and I see online many people are having the same issue and also I contacted the dealer and they said it cost around 1500
Driving down the interstate in the rain and the infotainment center starts randomly turning on and off the climate, turning off and on the heat/cool seats, turning on the backup camera, changing the stations, and just randomly changing settings. Truck is beeping alerts and very dangerous in the rain. It cannot be interrupted, this continued the whole 2 hour drive.
Turning onto a main hwy, vehicle would not move forward. Response time for throttle was more than 5 seconds. Car behind me had to slam on their brakes on order to not hit me. Vehicle is continually having throttle response issues.
The magnetic material on the tone wheel delaminated causing the engine to stall and not restart. Incident was on the curve of a busy mountain road. The failed part was kept by dealer Jacky Jones Ram in Hayesville, NC. There were no prior warnings to the failure. This same failure is described in recall 20V-475 but my vehicle VIN is not included. There are several other occurrences in online forums of the same problem occuring on vehicles that are also outside of the recall VINs. The recall should be expanded to also include at least the vehicles that actually have the problem.
I am having problems with my 2018 Ram 1500 Uconnect system. With no input from me it asks if I want to reset the time and also gives me a message of function is not available while driving. When the Uconnect is doing this, all other functions (climate, navigation, radio, etc) are not available. Doing some research, I found this is a very common problem with Uconnect due the screen delaminating, yet Dodge is doing nothing to fix the problem except charging owners for testing and replacing. Doing some further research, I found where Dodge has issued a service bulletin (S2108000130) addressing the delamination issue but does not give a clear direction to the dealerships to fix the problem. Why this was going on, the dealership I purchased the vehicle contacted me. When I explained the problems I was having, there response was to trade the vehicle in. Instead of helping fix the problem, they wanted me to buy another vehicle. After locating the service bulletin, I took my vehicle to another dealer. They refused to even look at the vehicle and wanted to run a system test on it. I explained that you could actually see the delamination and a test would not be needed due to this. They also refused to look at the service bulletin I had located. Since this is a known issue with the Uconnect, a service bulletin being issued and class action lawsuits being filed on this matter in other states, I want my Uconnect replaced at no charge. My vehicle has under 49,000 miles on it at this time a
The Uconnect 8.4 inch radio is delaminating causing uncommanded inputs into the vehicles climate, sound system, and phone access. The vehicle changing music and climate is distracting, but the commands in phone access are extremely distracting and could cause safety issues to others. This is also a very common issue according to others and although some have received a FCA goodwill warranty I was not able to. The goodwill warranty tells me Chrysler and Uconnect know this is a common issue that needs to be corrected. Also, Chryslers fix is to replace the radio when the glue between the digitizer (touch screen) and main unit melts despite the main unit not being the cause of the defect. So charging people $1,000 dollars for a new unit is a bandaid issue as the unit will just delaminate again. This issue needs a more effective solution.
My radio began changing channels, volume, settings and controls. The radio began making phone calls. The air conditioning and heat would increase and decrease on it's own. Very scary driving down the road and volume of the radio would increase without warning and could not be turned down.
I am having an issue with the radio screen on the vehicle is delaminating. This isn't repair able buy putting a new screen or screen protector on. the only thing is to replace the radio. the radio has the reverse camera connected to it and the radio controls the heating and AC. the radio also controls or changes settings in regards to electric brakes for trailers as well as lighting and etc. This is a major safety concern as when the delamination gets to the point of full delamination it tends to short the radio out. Shorting the radio out can cause the AC and heating which in the current weather climates becomes dangerous to be in. (heat stroke, frost bite, etc). the reverse camera also would be disabled which can be a potential danger to anything in rear of vehicle that isn't seen in the mirrors. Also a device shorting out also can cause fire. FCA is aware of the issue and is only replacing vehicles under the original 36,000 warranty. for everyone else it is Over $1,800 closer to $2,500 to have issue fixed that should be a recall issue.
Automatic Air Suspension defective. Truck back 2 wheels remains in "off road" mode while the front 2 tires remain in" plant" mode. Brought to carmax after owning for a month. they brought to dealer where is was serviced and fixed at the time. same issue is ongoing after now 2nd attempt to fix. replaced relay part and broke a week later. now having battery and alternator issues along with suspension is still broken.
The lights on the dash went out while sitting still. All of them flashed on then off again, a warning light about the transmission came on and then off again. The motor surged and would not stop, the brakes would not work, the shifter would not work. The vehicle surged into oncoming traffic.
Passenger seatbelt in front will not latch happened this spring. The car dealership had my truck for 3 weeks the begining of June to clean exhaust filter and find out why every warning light on the dash was on and did not fix the seatbelt or the other two recalls according to what I pull up with my vin. I have 4 children aged 4-12 this is unacceptable.
The touch screen on my Dodge Ram has failed. A quick google search shows this is a widespread problem among all Chrysler vehicles. This is a safety issue as most of the controls for the vehicle are accessed through this screen. Further, it causes my radio to consistently change stations, turns the volume on my raid to max randomly while driving with scares me every time it transpires. I can not access any emergency services. The vehicle randomly shuts off even though it’s new. The screen randomly turns off while using it. It gets stuck on backup camera while driving or shuts the backup camera off during use. It changes the climate control consistently while driving. Turning on the heater to max when it’s 109 outside or flipping on the ac when it’s freezing. I can’t use the manual controls because the touch screen overrides them. I am constantly having to push buttons on this screen while driving to turn the volume down, but it keeps slamming back up to max with no way to stop it. I have to stop random emergency calls when it decides to make them, or control unbelievable climate conditions constantly changing while driving. If this isn’t an emergency issue that has possible grave consequences for drivers, idk what is. It is undoubtedly a safety hazard and the manufacture does not care. It is obviously a major flaw or design issue by the manufacturer and for public safety, there undoubtedly should be a recall on this. It’s not an issue of just being able to use the radio. What
2018 RAM 1500 eco diesel with LESS THAN 26,000 miles on it. My husband and I had a harrowing drive a couple weeks ago bc the power steering unit started to intermittingly cut out/fail (think hair pin turn on country roads at 55, you are CRANKING on the wheel bc power steering cut out, then halfway through the turn it decides to come back and now you are OVER steering). Again, we have less than 26k on this truck ((and it is BABIED)) so clearly this is a faulty part. We got it fixed (I have receipts), but per RAM the truck is "too old" thus "out of warranty" with no current recalls and thus my request I submitted to RAM to reimburse us for the faulty part was denied.
The filler pipe for filling up gas will not take the gas from gas station filler nozzle you have to constantly engage nozzle it automatically shuts off and then you have to engage nozzle multiple times to fill gas tank. Dealer wanted to replace entire tank and filler pipe for $800.00. You asked what date did this occur it’s every time you put gas into the truck.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing hard starts and was making abnormal sounds. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel). The contact stated that unknown parts were replaced; however, the failure recurred increasingly while driving. The contact stated that while her husband was driving 40-50 MPH, the vehicle stalled inadvertently. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact's husband was unable to veer to the side of the road. The contact's husband was able to restart the vehicle and drove to his residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
There is a problem with the UConnect system where screen delaminating causes the system to be very erratic and make selections on it's own. It randomly selects any of a number of screens and makes selections within those screens causing major distraction while driving. This affects every selectable component including Radio, Media, Climate, Apps, Controls, Phone and Settings. This also takes my desire to run Max AC and instead gives Max Heat! Backup Camera, and many other issues. This is clearly worthy of investigation given the number of complaints I see on NHTSA for these issue. Please make this a recall.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 60-65 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently started to decelerate while the contact was attempting to accelerate. The contact stated that after several minutes the vehicle returned to normal driving. The dealer was contacted and notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.
The ram 8.4 uconnect screen is delaminating. This causing the screen to "ghost click" everywhere constantly. This includes: randomly calling people, changing radio stations, changing volume, clicking in and out of my map/navigation, changing clock, changing climate control, etc. It is very distracting and dangerous while driving. Its basically unusable and even once it started an emergency call over and over.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving in reverse, the Back Over Prevention camera failed to display an image, creating a visibility hazard. Additionally, the reverse camera screen would erroneously display an image while driving forward. On several occasions, while the ignition key was removed from the ignition and the vehicle was turned off, the reverse camera activated and displayed an image. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V398000 (Back Over Prevention). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
The 8.4 inch navigation screen in the center cluster. This issue is available for inspection. The touchscreen is delaminating. As this thin film independently pulls itself away from the surface behind it, the screen behaves as though a person is pressing the buttons. This issue has rendered the navigation screen unusable because as soon as one makes a selection on the screen, another and many other selections are pressed immediately thereafter. Currently, the pressure seems to be focused on the Sirius XM selection and so it just continuously is pressed. However, yesterday while leaving work for the day, the screen selected a person from my contact list and placed a phone call, catching me off guard, as I did not initiate the phone call. There is a function to dial 911 on this Uconnect platform and so it is only a matter of time before my pickup decides to contact 911 without my knowledge or need/desire. An unexpected phone call to a contact or let alone 911 emergency dispatch would serve as a distraction to any driver and may lead to a serious accident. The navigation function of the screen is not usable because as soon as one tries to input an address or select a location, the screen makes its own selection. Attempts to correct this are fruitless. If one needs directions to a location, maybe hospital or emergency room (listed as options on the Uconnect platform), this screen is rendered completely unreliable. Also available on the screen is the ability to adjust the climate
My touchscreen has been delaminating over the past year or so and has now begun making random selections when driving. This is extremely distracting as it will often make phone calls on its own. I have not been able to confirm if there is a recall on this particular issue but it appears to be a widespread issue. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
Touch screen that displays the rearview reverse camera overheats and is separating the digitizer from the glass causing the display to go off. Went to the dealership in Columbia IL. And they confirmed the issue, but would not fix the problem under warranty and charged a diagnostic fee for doing nothing more than agreeing that the touchscreen is overheating and the display is separating.
The UCONNECT 8.4 screen has delaminated and phantom touches constantly. I the phantom touches have caused several distractions to include turning on the rear view camera, adjusting the climate control settings, and calling people if a phone is connected. I have had almost two accidents caused by the distractions that this issue has caused while driving and been pulled over for using a cell phone to stop a call that screen made. The dealership has seen the vehicle and told me it is a common occurrence for this model of UCONNECT. I have called UCONNECT and Ram to see if they would replace the screen and have refused to do so.
The antilock brake system and the electronic brake system light came on when I started my truck. I’m not the first to have issues like this ram needs to issue a recall to fix these safety related problems!!
The radio which is a 8.4 uconnect screen had started to delaminate cause the screen to randomly select items and constantly switch back and forth from one screen media to hvac controls and apps, it automatically turn my heated and cooled seats on and off and again and had even turned my auto dimmer for my rear view mirror off, and when I tried to turn it back on it would select the auto dimmer like I was touching the screen when I was not. This mind you while I was trying to drive at night making a huge distraction. It constantly hits items on the screen which brings up dialog which requires me to look down away from the road.
Please help this is an ongoing safety issue that causes my phantom touching on my stereo screen. The screen is not just radio but air, cameras and many other electrical settings. The heat will come on going down the highway when there is no air turned on. The backup camera will pop up on the screen causing a pretty uncomfortable feeling when going down the road at 70mph. Along with apps opening up, random phone calls through the Uconnect system causing me to try and switch the system off. This is a problem that is visible all across the internet while dealers and others are taking advantage charging money for the fix. Last June I started noticing a bubble in the left portion of my screen. I took the truck into the dealership I bought it from and my warranty had gone out so they would not help. Ive tried contact dodge and they keep running me around passing me to different departments. The issue is now to where I can’t do anything with the radio and it constantly phantom pushing of buttons. I have researched the issue and this is common problem all across Chrysler and dodge vehicles around 2018.
I was driving my 2018 RAM at night when it suddenly started to smoke. I had to stop in the middle of the road to find coolant had splattered on part of the engine and was leaking. Upon further inspection this morning I found there is a missing bolt on the radiator and it is cracked and a hose apparently burst. Called the dealership and states this is not covered by the warranty since I’m on my 4th year and the type of part that it is, however, the only people to have ever worked on this vehicle have been the dealership and they have never had to do any repairs on the car, only regular oil changes and a warranty repair to my Uconnect screen that was faulty. There is no reason why this would have happened other thanks faulty parts. Upon investigating further I found that 2018 Rams with Ecodiesel engine(I have a gas engine) have a recall for the same issue and many people are having issues getting repair issues due to parts. I have also found other people with gas engines with similar issues. I’d like to have some resolution with the manufacturer do they may cover their issue, not have to pay out of pocket for this.
Intermittent loss of power steering. Steering fights driver input when turning in either direction, when straightening out from a turn & gradual road curves. Inspected by competent mechanic. EPS rack & pinion failing at 22,300 miles on vehicle. EPS serial # not affected by FCA recall
The contact's father owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 20 MPH, an abnormal odor was detected and a loud sound was heard coming from the vehicle. The contact pulled over and inspected under the hood. She noticed that the battery had exploded, with cracks on the casing and battery acid leakage. The check engine, battery, and ABS warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that no codes appeared after they replaced the battery. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. Prior to the failure, the vehicle had a jumpstart from Triple A towing company. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 58,800.
The contact's husband owned a 2018 Ram 1500. Two years ago, the contact received a notification for NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V757000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the parts for the repair were unavailable. At the time, the dealer had been notified about the recall and confirmed that parts were not yet available. A year later, the dealer called that contact to inform her and that parts slowly coming to their dealer and that she had been placed on a waiting list for the recall repair. Recently, the contact stated that while her husband was driving at 65 MPH, the vehicle failed to accelerate upon depression of the accelerator pedal; two unknown warning lights also appeared on the instrument panel. As her husband pulled over, a white color smoke began to emit from the engine. Upon lifting up the engine's hood, her husband saw flames coming from under the engine. Her husband immediately called 911 and while on the phone with the dispatcher, the vehicle became engulfed in flames. The fire department arrived ten minutes later and extinguished the fire. The contact was uncertain if a fire report was filed; no injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed to two independent mechanics where it was later deemed a total loss. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure and a case was filed. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
The Touch Screen 8.4 Uconnect Screen is Delaminating and has Phantom Touches with Render the Screen useless and it takes away from the ability to use the screen and the SOS or Assist feature it has incase of any emergencies.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated while in reverse at approximately 2 MPH, the backup camera screen would go blank, or the image would become pixilated. The contact had not noticed any warning lights. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the navigation and information computer screen needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
Uconnect 8.4 graphic panel (radio, navigation, climate control, etc...) is de-laminating causing random systems outcomes and dangerous driver distractions. Online research shows this is caused by some chemical between the outer touch sensitive screen and inner radio screen itself leaking out the bottom of the assembly. I'm concerned about what this chemical is and its toxicity to humans both breathing it or potentially touching it. This is a well know and common deficiency, especially within 2018 models, which the manufacturer will only address if still under warranty (all 2018 Chrysler vehicles are past the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty period.)
As I'm driving my truck there is a error message that keeps popping on on the vehicle information system. I can shut the information system off and I can't get rid of the error message. this is distracting me while I'm driving.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 55 MPH, there was an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle. The low oil pressure warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that after turning off the vehicle, the vehicle was unable to be restarted. The vehicle was towed to an independent dealer, where it was diagnosed that the bearing on the crankshaft was loose and causing damage to the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
While driving on the highway with cruise control engaged at 60 mph there was a loud clunk sound and the truck immediately decelerated. The cruise control had disengaged and the truck seemed to go into limp home mode and the check engine light came on. I pulled to the side of the road and shut the engine off. I looked under the truck to see if I had run over something and checked the drive line for damage but found none. Restarting the engine took considerably more crank time than normal. While driving home the truck would not accelerate normally and top speed uphill was 19-23 mph depending on the climb with rpm around 3000 before what felt like fuel cut off and immediate deceleration until rpm was dropped to around 2000. The 5 hour trip home turned into an 8 hour trip. The check engine DTC is P0336 (crank position sensor A circuit range/performance). There is a recall W58 (20V475000) for software update for loss of crankshaft position sensor signal. This update substitutes the camshaft position sensor signal for the lost crankshaft signal. There is a known defect with the tone ring on the 3.0 eco diesel. The magnetic material on the tone ring delaminates. The software update does not fix the loss of crankshaft signal. The engine now has excessive crank time before starting. There is an a noticeable aceleration lag and the truck struggles on uphill grades. The cruise control is now inoperable with the crank signal DTC is permanent until the tone ring is replaced. My repair sho
Instrument panel controlling radio, HVAC, back up camera, hands free devices, etc is faulty. It turns on/off by itself, glitches to many operations several times a second. Can not be turned off. Extremely distracting. The panel also gets very hot - worried about fire hazard.
While driving on at 75 mph with the cruise control on I went to reset the MPG and the screen was blank. Started pressing the left/right arrows and the entire cluster restarts (power cycles). I was able to repeat it several more times and capture it on film, link below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=saQ_5ezRV-0
Purchased truck from Covert Dodge in Taylor, TX 2019. Mid-End 2019 started having issues with the fuel pump would not fuel vehicle without constantly shutting off. This is a very annoying situation and eats up a great deal of time. I have to hold it where it barely runs the fuel in order to get it to fuel for more then 2 seconds. Gas attendant at Costco just thought I did not know how to fuel my truck and he too had the same issue. Dodge needs to own up to the problem and fix it. There are plenty of complaints about the issue. I do not think my next vehicle will be a dodge only because they do not own up to the well known problem. Did receive a letter about the fuel tank strap. I do not think that is the issue
My complaint is with the infotainment system 8.4 uconnect screen delaminating. This delamination is causing ghost touches on the screen. It causes the A/C and heat to switch on and off. Changes the ride height on my air ride to adjust. Has made random phone calls when connected to my phone, changes radio stations. Almost every system in the truck is controlled from the radio screen and it cam and has changes things while driving cause distractions and possible unsafe actions to occur. To me this product is u safe when the delamination of the screen happens. Please help
Cruise control on 65mph going down hill. Transmission dropped into a lower gear. Vehicle immediately slowed down immediately by probably 20-30 mph. Everything in vehicle was thrown forward. I struggled to keep control and thought I was going to roll and crash off of roadway, or hit another vehicle. This was not a problem for two years, until June of this year. Driven the same stretch of highway a dozen times without incident. 21,000 on vehicle now. I took the RAM tech for a ride to reproduce the incident. Did it on a small hill at 25-30mph and reproduced the problem several times at the same location of the hill. Transmission drops into lower gear, makes a kind of grinding or similar noise. Then it stays in this lower gear straining until the brake is pushed to turn cruise off. Told him of losing control on big hill and nearly crashing. No warning lights or warning of any kind. Their response that a slight speed change is BS. 65mph to 30 or what it was in a couple seconds is not slight. It also states temporary. Even with the tech seeing it, it is not temporary. You have to push the brake to get it back into the right gear. At 30mph on test runs. Losing control of vehicle and they come up with this. You can inspect my vehicle. No sales rep ever mentioned that you shouldn't use cruise control on a hill. What a scam. Not happy with my RAM purchase now.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
