This is my second Ram truck with this issue. My first truck was a 2014 1500 Big Horn and now I own a 2017 1500 Sport. The 2014 was in the shop 3 times for a manifold bolt breakage and the 2017 has been in the shop 2 times now for a manifold bolt break. This issue causes an annoying engine ticking sound that gets louder over time and causes a serious health risk to the passengers of the vehicle. Even the newly designed bolts that Mopar has been using still break. This has been ongoing for many years with the Hemi engines and should have a repair that will not fail by now.

The plastic fan exploded and cut through the transmission lines causing the truck to stop moving and thousands of dollars in damage. While towing a 6500lb trailer, the fan was spinning at a high rate of speed when the plastic failed and broke apart in the engine bay causing damage to the paint, heat shield, and transmission lines. It was unknown that this occurred until the vehicle started to hesitate with the gas pedal until it no longer would drive. The vehicle and trailer were towed to Brandon Dodge on Broadway in Littleton Colorado where the service associate then told me the driver caused the fan to break!? Seems very unlikely that you could run over something that could fit up into the engine area and go into a high rate fan that blows into the engine bay and anything that did fit into that small opening would damage a fan so badly that all blades would break off. This issue had to be resolved by my insurance company as the warranty on the vehicle said they wouldn't fix it due to the service man's comments. The transmission had to be dropped and checked for damage and pan replaced, hoses replaced and new fan, which looks a different color/type to me was installed. The fan has been in the shop at 46k miles for noise and they replaced only the clutch.

Dodge has failed to recognize an issue that is extremely prevelant in Americas Number one selling truck. The 2015-2020 models are all experiencing exhaust Manifold deformities/ Warpage that are causing the manifold bolts to snap at the engine resulting in the vehicle spewing untreated exhaust fumes both into the environment as well as the passenger compartment. They have redesigned the components but have not issued a recall. This is both an environmental issue as well as a health issue for the drivers. This is the number 1 selling truck in America so I cant imagine how much unfiltered exhaust is entering our environment from these vehicles. A simple google search of 5.7 hemi exhaust leak will show you how prevalent this issue is. Dodge's redesign of the manifolds is a clear indication that they admit the issue was a design flaw. It is both seriously detrimental to the environment as well as the passengers.

Shortly after starting the engine it suddenly shut off. This has happened on three occasions, and each time I noticed the key fob was between the ON and ACC positions. I think the key fob sometimes returns too far after I release it from the start position. The first two times I had to turn it to the off position, remove the key fob, then restart the engine. This time nothing happened when I tried to restart the engine. I removed the key fob and opened and closed the driver door, then was able to restart the engine.

My family has been exhibiting symptoms of asthma for several years. Recently, while cleaning out my truck I came across a massive mold growth under the backseat of my Ram 1500 which i believe has been the cause of these health issues all along. I've included multiple photos showing the extent of the growth. It appears that water has been running down the rear truck pillars and soaking the interior carpeting/fabric under/behind the rear seat. There are numerous well documented examples of water leak issues in Ram trucks equipped with a sunroof and third brake lights which I believe to be the cause of the mold resulting in my family's asthma related issues. I have previously taken my truck into the dealer for water leak concerns (I had noticed wetness on the front window pillars after a heavy rain). It was recommended at that time that I check/blow out the sunroof drains and not to park the truck on any incline (this is ridiculous). I blew air through the drains (they were perfectly clear with no blockage). I didn't notice further wetness on the front pillars so I didn't pursue the issue again until now. The nature of these water leaks makes them very difficult to detect and poses a serious health risk as the extensive mold growth would not normally be noticeable. Ram should be required to recall trucks with these issues to fix the leaks and provide adequate water management (e.g. properly designed drip tray with water drainage outside of the cabin) in case of future leaks to p

Constant engine code for a very small evap leak. Vehicle was taken to C&C Automotive (4014 Washington Road, Augusta, Ga. 30907 || 762-685-5555) for a diagnostic. C&C Automotive advised that the leak was due to a faulty Fuel Control Valve, which appeared to be in a melted state. The vehicle has never been in a collision and has 11,000 miles. After some research it was found that there was a previous recall for the 2017 Ram 1500 for the same issue but I was told by Chrysler's Customer Service my Vin was not affected by the recall and I would have to pay for the replacement out of pocket. When the temperature dropped below -10F last Thursday, the front air suspension dropped to the bump stops and remained there until the temperature rose to above 32 degreesF. This made the truck unable to steer completely to the right or left, greatly lengthening the time and distance required to make a turn, lane change, etc. In effect, the vehicle is unsafe to drive under those conditions. No error code was generated during this length of time.

I just purchased my truck in November 2022 and noticed an audible ticking noise coming from the engine immediately after start-up. After having the vehicle inspected by an ASE mechanic, it was discovered that the manifold bolts had broken on each warped manifold which was likely causing the ticking sound. Because of the defective manifold bolts, this exhaust leak created a dangerous situation while the Hemi engine was running and possibly resulted in a failed emissions test required to obtain a license plate in metro Atlanta, GA.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
