The power assist has gone out. It became very hard to drive the truck. I was coming home from work when it happened. It’s obviously a danger to cause an accident, it’s very difficult to steer the truck. It has not been to the dealer or mechanic yet. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the incident. Yes it is available for inspection upon request. The problem continues today.
Hello, my name is [XXX] , and I had a recall performed on my 2016 Ram Eco Truck 3.0L (FCA US Recall ID 66A) at Dewey Dodge Chrysler Jeep in [XXX] , following a recall notice dated June 28, 2023. On March 17, 2026, while driving on the interstate, I experienced a sudden and severe loss of engine power, which nearly resulted in an accident; the dashboard displayed a "Service Electronic Throttle Control" warning, restricting my speed to around 40 miles per hour with low RPMs. I returned to Dewey Ram that same day and was informed the next day that I needed to replace the crankshaft position sensor tone wheel, which was quite expensive. I had assumed this issue was resolved during the previous recall, but the service department clarified that the recall only involved a software update and did not cover the tone wheel replacement. However, the repair description indicated that FCA US would conduct a voluntary safety recall to update the powertrain control module software or, in some cases, replace the tone wheel. Further investigation led me to Safety Recall W68 / NHTSA 20V-475 regarding the loss of crankshaft position, which I believe pertains to my truck based on its year, model, and circumstances. I shared this information with the dealership, but they stated they could not assist me since my VIN did not show any current recalls. I expressed my concern that the previous recall may not have been completed to the necessary standards to address the safety issue, but they advised m
Hello, so I have had my vehicle in the shop for over 2 weeks due to a failure toner wheel and even though there is a extention recall for my vehicle there not covering it even after telling fca and the dealer about the issues. There saying they won't be able to reimburse me even though I just bought the truck through carvana about 5 months ago and haven't even driven it over 4k miles.
My Truck has less than 60,000 miles have paid for the extended warranty and now have a infamous ABS module failure which is very dangerous because now My Truck is my only source of transportation and being a senior citizen. This is a hazard for my only vehicle that I have. I have done my research and there are tons of complaints for this issue and it has not became a recall, which is very alarming and to top it off. I have always taken in the truck for Service to have it checked, and the dealer has never checked it and now that there’s no warranty now they say it is an issue so I need this to be fixed . This does also affect the driving of the vehicle and the stability and top of all the alarming issues on my dashboard. I am also the original owner of this vehicle.
My 2016 Ram 1500 (4th‑gen) has a severely rusted and failed front fuel tank strap bracket, causing the tank to sag. This matches the defect described in Recall U04 / NHTSA 18V‑160 for 2009–2012 Ram 1500 trucks, but my VIN is not included. I believe the same safety defect affects ALL rust belt 4th‑gen Ram 1500s and request that NHTSA investigate expanding the recall’s model‑year coverage.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS system module failure warning light illuminated. The brakes, traction control, and power steering failed, and the speedometer ceased to display on the instrument panel. The electronic throttle control warning light also illuminated, causing the vehicle to fail to shift out of park. After turning off the vehicle for several hours, the contact was able to restart the vehicle and shift out of park. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with ABS module failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the ABS and the traction control warning lights were intermittently illuminated, causing the 4WD and the traction control systems to become inoperable while driving. The vehicle was taken to Auto Zone, where it was scanned, and a DTC for the ABS module failure was found. The dealer and the manufacturer were contacted, and the contact was informed that the part to repair the vehicle was not available, and that the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
Hello, I am wanting to file a complaint regarding my 2016 Ram 1500 Rebel. As of April 2025 my vehicle's Air Suspension system has been a Safety issue for me. I have noticed that the Service Air Suspension Immediatley, Service Air Suspension system messages have been displaying on my vehicle's dashboard. I took my vehicle into the Mac Haik Dodge in Temple, TX in April 2025 for a diagnosis and no repairs were completed. I then noticed once again in December 2025 that my vehicle was displaying the same dtc messages above. The vehicle once again was taken into the Mac Haik Dodge in Temple, TX for a diagnosis and it was recommended to have the Air Suspension Control module replaced to correct this issue. I paid to have this repair completed in January 2026. My vehicle was returned to me and I was advised that I would no longer have any further issues. As a result, in February 2026 3 weeks of having my vehicle back in my posession the same dtc messages were once again displaying on my vehicle's dashboard. My vehicle was brought to the Mac Haik Dodge in Temple, TX for another diagnosis and it was recommened to either have the Air Suspension compressor replaced or to completely remove the entire Air Suspension system and transition to a Coil / Springs conversion to prevent any further issues. My concerns are that due to not having my vehicle repaired correctly back in April 2025 and the ongoing issues I have experienced this is considered a Safety risk with operating a vehicle that h
The ABS control module has faulted and the ABS, Traction Control, and Cruise Control are off making them all inoperable, even though the truck is still able to be drive, albeit unsafely. There is a national backorder of parts and the units are no longer being manufactured.
ABS Module failure, Brake warning light on, ABS warning light on and unable to use cruise control
ABS System failed when making a right hand turn. It cause my truck to fishtail into on coming traffic and wind up on the other side of the road going the opposite direction. We have not been to a dealership yet. Scared to drive it again. The traction control light and ABS light and brake lights are on all the time. No other warnings. The lights were on when I purchased the truck.
My truck lost power steering while driving, a red flashing light came on saying power steering, pulled off and could not turn wheel. Managed to get it to a shop close by and upon scan for codes it came up C2217-00 electric power steering and shop verified that my truck came up with a recall regarding this same issue but when I called a dodge dealership they said I had no open recalls yet needed to get it to their shop for their diagnostic.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The vehicle was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL). The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed after the vehicle was picked up from the dealer, the engine warning light illuminated. While driving a short distance later, two unknown warning lights illuminated, and the message “Exhaust Filter 100% FULL - Safely Drive at Highway Speeds” was displayed. After exiting the freeway, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the left engine manifold, catalytic converter, and the air intake had failed. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL). The contact stated that since the remedy was not available when the recall was issued, the delay created additional damages to the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the recall repairs were already completed. No assistance was provided. However, a claim was filed with the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 204,000.
The ABS warning light is on. I took the vehicle to the dealership, and they advised that it is safe to continue driving. ✅
Known issue with the abs module causing brake problems no abs no traction control very dangerous to drive especially in wet/slippery conditions
Air suspension no good causes bad steering/control of truck very dangerous
The drivers side seat belt is very difficult to latch.
My abs, traction control, trailer brake lights are on. Error code C2200-49. What is worse; there are no parts! As I tow a camper it is a serious issue! I cannot understand why this issue is common with this vehicle but ram doesn’t have remedy. (Rebuild option or shock- have someone make spare parts for it) I will be forced to fix it myself with junk yard parts. Why is it so hard to get competent designers when the trucks have been made for 20 years or more. If they would standardize more on parts and quit changing things every year maybe we could get better and safer vehicles. And spare parts may be easier to get.
K my abs and traction control and brake light came on my truck has 86k miles well took it and got it scanned said abs control module internal short so went on line to order one on back order and no date when available so went to dealer and they said no can’t get one nationwide back order so now my trucks brakes are not safe and i contacted ram with no response so idk wat to do and i thought car manufacturers had to keep parts available for so many years and the part i need also fits newer ones also so it should be available instead every time i have to drive it’s possible to not be able to stop without sliding i would jus trade it in but will be a loss because of the brakes and all the lights on also i purchased this truck new
My power steering went out on my vehicle in mid January 2016. My temperature guage was also not working properly. I took it to my local Ram dealership to get it looked at. They drew up an estimate and I approved some repairs. My extended warranty covered majority of it. After picking up my vehicle, I noticed my steering wheel still had some resistance to it. I felt it shouldn't have that much resistance knowing the amount of work that just got done. My temperature gauge was still not the greatest. It never got directly into the middle of being the right temperature, but being off a bit maybe isn't the worst thing. I notice my temeperature and steering wheel icons light up when I start my vehicle, but researched and found that that is normal and it goes away after my vehicle is started. I called to make another appointment to be seen, but later cancelled it after learning the information about the icons and my steering wheel resistence loosened up and feels "normal" again. I just wanted to document my experience, as I learned there may be others with similar power steering issues and that there may be a class action lawsuit in the works. I have provided all the documentation I have according to my knowledge, and can provide more if need be.
On September 29, 2025, my vehicle overheated. Smoke was coming from the interior vents as well as from under the hood. I pulled over shortly after and had my vehicle towed to a repair shop. I got an estimate for radiator repair. That did not fix the issue, so more repair was needed related to a heating and evaporator core. I have attached the invoices for those repairs. I just wanted to note this for my records.
-My ABS module failed over a year ago and is available for inspection. -My ABS, anti-lock, cruise control does not work. -The problem has been confirmed by a dealer and dealer said the part is no longer available. -The component has been inspected by a dealer. -There were warning lights when it failed and they have been on ever since.
ABS Module failure, Anti-Lock Brake system failure.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20-30 MPH, the steering wheel jerked to the left. Additionally, while making a turn, the steering wheel jerked to the opposite direction. The contact stated that the failure recurred on several occasions. The message "Check Power Steering" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the contact borrowed a screwdriver to access the power steering electrical wires. The contact discovered that the power steering wiring and electrical plug wiring were burned and melted. The contact purchased a new rack and pinion, but had become aware that the rack and pinion replacement would not repair the vehicle due to the burned electrical wiring. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V167000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not included. The dealer and the manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
My abs module has an error code and I can't find the part I need.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Factory Air Suspension on 2016 RAM Rebel V8 5.7L Right Front broken elbow How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The right front broken elbow is causing my entire rear end of truck to sag to near ground level, leaving the front up high. It is making for dangerous driving condition not only for the driver, but for others as well. Truck bottoms out on the slight bump on the highway making for unstable driving, front head light up high cause issues for other drivers in front of me. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. Confirmed at Jim Click RAM, Tucson Auto mall , Tucson AZ. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The vehicle has only been inspected by the dealership, but I am ready to go to my attorney, to get this fixed the right way. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? This broken $10 part (elbow) is causing the computer system to list multiple error codes for the air suspension. The dealership is telling me they cannot find the part anywhere in the United States and is on back order. They refuse to use a third party part and it must be an official Mopar part or they will not fix my vehiclle. Meanwhile I have to drive to work every morning and this
ABS warning light. Light came on in July 2025. Local repair shops could not fix said there are no parts available. Took truck to Ram dealer in December 2025.They state ABS MODULE is bad along with HCU hydraulic control unit. Followed up 4 times on what the hold up is. They state waiting on parts and keep reponsonding the same. I called the Ram national customer service as directed on 1/22/2026. They said they would get right on the issue. I got a response about 5 days later. They said they are still trying to find the parts. I checked again around February 3rd. Got the same response. I checked several chat rooms about the issue and there were a lot with the same model year. This is a big safety issue as brakes lock up and or it takes longer to stop the Truck. Please look into this matter. Thanks
When putting on seat belt it won't stay secured, you have to constantly insert seat belt for it to stay, there's something wrong with it.
Fuel tank strap snapped off frame
Reversing in our driveway, backing in with the trailer to store it. Backing up hill, the truck stopped moving. I applied additional pressure to the accelerator to get the truck moving again. The truck lurched backward suddenly enough that the rear tires broke traction loudly. Before I could stop the truck, the trailer struck the corner of the house, causing significant damage.
I recently purchased this 2016 RAM 1500 from a family member. I was driving at highway speeds between 60-80 MPH in heavy rush hour traffic. The vehicle suddenly lost power & died at highway speeds. I was in the middle lane & almost crashed to the vehicle to my left & from behind as I intended to swerve to the median. Upon calling the dodge dealer from the side of the road, they confirmed that they had no available appointments to diagnose the issue for days, I had no control of the situation as i was stranded on the side of the road and needed to get the vehicle fixed, upon tow the the nearest diesel repair shop, it was diagnosed as a high pressure fuel pump and fixed at and out of pocket cost of $792.13. I was not aware this vehicle had an open recall (z46) as i just purchased it. Upon calling the dealer they informed the truck had a open recall, suggested I contact Mopar for reimbursement per there guidance. They directed me to the website. The claim was denied due to the fact that the work was not done at a certified RAM shop. I explained the circumstances to the case manager via email correspondence as this is the ONLY way they contact you to no outcome and a denial. . I was finally able to get an appointment with ram where the recall was fully addressed on there side. Mopar still refuses to cover the out of pocket expense even after I took it the dealership to get the recall done the way they requested it to be done.
ABS unit failed. This renders the Traction control system, ABS braking, cruise control, and 4WD system inert. I tried to repair/replace the unit it is on indefinite backorder, and repair shops cannot get the parts to fix the actual unit. Makes vehicle dangerous to drive in all but fair conditions. No solution has been provided by RAM.
Power steering quit while driving. Electric Power Steering unit faulty from factory.

ABS module needs replacing. Part on Backorder for a year, won't be available till July 2026. RAM is offers no alternative. 3rd party vendors are saying the computer chip controlling the module has been discontinued by its maker, and in reality, there are no more new modules being produced. Car has no ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, STABILITY CONTROL.
Starting in October 2025 at about 131700 miles and continuing into Jan 2026 my 2016 Ram Eco Diesel would periodically loose power steering capabilities . First time it did it no malfunctioning indicator lights ! I did my due diligence and took it in to selling dealer to look into it. I attached invoice where they say nothing found and they had it a week! . Shortly after getting back from dealer , pwr str loss again. Repeated about twice a month. Usually happened after highway speeds when decreasing speeds or at start up. Once I got going, steering would engage correctly. In December , a ( SERVICE POWER STEERING! ) message did light up. Since dealer in my opinion gave me the old “heave hoe” in October and November about this issue, I made appt with independent mechanic shop. They diagnosed I needed new rack and pinion assembly in just one day! Repaired on 1/12/26 at 132817 miles. I do have truck back and it is performing fine. I have owned it since May of 2019 . This truck was built in June of 2016 in Michigan! Thank goodness I had access to other vehicles to drive during this issue. Had I been in bad weather or icy roads , I would not have been able to control vehicle!!! I do feel this Eco should be part of the electronic power steering recall!!!
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and hauling a travel trailer, the ABS warning light illuminated, and the trailer brakes became inoperable. The contact stated that the trailer's brake functions failed to function properly, and that the trailer's emergency brakes needed to be engaged to stop the trailer. The contact stated that the failure nearly caused a crash with another vehicle, making the vehicle unsafe to drive. The dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
The ABS module failed causing the cruise control, ABS, and traction control systems to become inoperable.
Recall for intake manifold for our ecodiesel 2016 Ram and you do not show a recall for our specific truck. Which, GM service has verified we need to replace the intake manifold. Hesitation, drag, engine light, etc...
Upon start get dash message "Service Electronic Braking System". When that goes away I'm left with these lights: ABS , Antilock system symbol, and BRAKE. As a result of this I have NO CRUISE CONTROL as well. Took the vehicle to Johnson Dodge dealership in Budd Lake, NJ. They told me the ABS modules are on back order for a year. Also that the replacement parts have been DISCONTINUED BY DODGE. No ETA available. I travel mostly hightway without ABS or cruise control. I worry about decreased stopping distance constantly. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DEADLY THREAT TO ME AND PASSENGERS. The internet is full of complaints for the same problem.
Power steering fails as the “ Service Power Steering” & the steering wheel with exclamation mark lights up. It’s most common during temperatures of 70 degrees or less. Power steering comes back after engine is warmed up for approximately 5 minutes before needing to drive it.
The front gas tank strap mount on the frame rusted to the point the new one I purchased falls out of the frame. Some Rams have the recall applied mine shows zero. I have a strap to hold the tank up temporarily but I need a permanent fix.
The ABS control module and pump failed. ABS Light, Traction / Stabilitrak light / Brake Light on Vehicle was diagnosed by the dealership Dec 16, 2022 was given quote to repair but the parts were not available and back ordered. Been reaching out since to have truck repaired multiple dealerships but ABS module is not available no ETA been driving vehicle as is Currently ABS module is still not available no ETA now and vehicle is rendered in operable due to the ABS Module failure There have been multiple complaints of this issue, yet nothing is being done.
The 3.0 eco diesel has a known defect involving the oil pickup tube clogging up with soot and diesel particles which then causes catastrophic damage to the engine and they blow up due to engine bearing failure which could lead to a safety issue while operating the vehicle on the roadways there are numerous videos online regarding this issue and it needs address and mopar needs to correct this and recall all the trucks and replace the engines and redesign the oil pickup tube to prevent the oil pickup tube from clogging up it’s unfair to the owners of the trucks and so many of the trucks are being scrapped due to the engine failure issues new engines cost $11-$18,000 to replace
Electric Power Steering has stopped working completely. A service Power steering warning has popped up on the dashboard.
ABS MODULE 68295368-AC failed. Prevents anti-locking brakes to function. Only have hydraulic brakes which will allow the vehicle to go into a skid. Does not allow the cruise control to function. This part has been on back order from my dealer since February 25, 2025. I have checked on the statis and have been told they are not even allowed to place any more requests for new customers with this same defected abs module. There is no after market part available for this model. Only option is to spin the wheel and hope for a working part from a salvage yard. There were recalls for previous models and later models. There are thousands of us, if not more with this problem. When will Stellantis be held accountable and get us the required part. With warning lights on the dash board for brake and traction control, there is little value to try and sell or trade my Ram 1500. Who would by it? With the defective abs module not only am I at risk, but other vehicles on the road could be endangered.
Cruise control difficult to set sometimes. When set, cancel button does not shut cruise control off.Truck continues to keep speed rate going. This has been a continual problem from purchase.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
