No one has ever fixed my recalls but it says it was done. I’m am getting the occupant light and having electric problems. Also there is leaking around the top break light causing it to leak inside

My electric power steering quits all of the sudden while I'm driving. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. This is a big concern for me considering I have a wife and child who drive with a lot.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 65 MPH, the ABS, TPMS, trailer brake control unit, and traction control warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but the part to repair the vehicle was on backorder. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
ABS module is not communicating with the vehicle which is a known issue with Ram 1500. No repair parts are available and have not been available from Ram in over a year.
The contact owns a 2016 RAM 1500. The contact discovered the NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V757000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) and the contact was informed that the recall was repaired, however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle lost acceleration and there was smoke coming from the engine. The low oil pressure and service throttle control warning lights illuminated. The contact pulled the vehicle to the side of the road and when the hood was lifted the engine was on fire. The contact extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher at the scene. No fire department was contacted. No police report was filed. No injuries were sustained. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The contact was a certified mechanic and diagnosed the vehicle with ERG failure and a melted hole through the intake manifold. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 156,000.
The Antilock Braking System (ABS) warning light illuminated in approx December 2023, and I took it to the dealership. The dealership service center confirmed that the ABS Module is bad, and requires replacement. The component is still under warranty, so the dealership ordered the module. The dealership stated in December that the component is "on backorder," but should be available by March 2024. It is now April 2024 and I just checked with both the dealership and RAM headquarters, and still no ETA on the part (still on "backorder"). This IS THE BRAKING system! If RAM wanted to do anything about it they could (take parts of a new vehicle, pay more to have one built, etc), but they're doing NOTHING. Again, this isn't AC or the radio... it's brakes, a safety issue. Please help. Thank you.
Truck die for the second time Car is at Lake Wales Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. Since [XXX] There is no estimate time to be release They mention about decal [XXX]/nhtsa [XXX] For high pressure Fuel Pump. I call FCA but no one care about. Telling than I have to wait for parts! This isn’t right when they not even offer a loaner. Abs keeps going in and out due to a faulty abs module control. Thousands of people are having this issue and No parts are being made because they are under engineering review. Meanwhile we are not safe driving with faulty abs modules that the manufacturer is fully aware of.
1. The vehicle has steering issues and is no longer drive able. Steering difficulty began in mid to late August 2023. The steering is now impossible to use and vehicle to l is rendered inoperable. 2. Since purchasing the vehicle I have noticed the transmission is having issues shifting gears. The rpm will be high at speeds of 40-60mph, and the vehicle will only shift to a different gear if I take my foot off the gas pedal for an extended period of time. I had auto mechanic troubleshoot and repair what he thought was a dirty or faulty sensor. Issue continues.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the steering wheel had become very difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V167000 (Steering). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 180,000.
There was a recall on my 2016, dodge ram eco-diesel for the crankshaft position sensor and tone wheel. I have tried to deal with the manufacture they said this is not in effect anymore, and my vehicle was not in it. I do not understand they recalled certain plants that made certain vehicles. Mine has same motor Same problems only 130,000 miles
Initially while driving the steering wheel would intermittently become stiff. Noticed some difficulty backing into the carport. Yesterday, while driving, the steering wheel became stiff. When going around curves the vehicle would veer off road or into the oncoming lane. Making turns left or right was extremely difficult as there was no steering assist. NHTSA knew about the problem back in 2016, why not inspect all potential threats to life; not just 440 vehicles when a safety risk was known to exist? NHTSA Recall No. : 16V-1
ABS failure resulted in life-threatening failure of the trailer-brake-system, and associated traction and cruise control November 5th 2023 while towing 7,000 lbs on the Interstate. Local dealership was of no help whatsoever (see attached). This is a widely reported issue on various forums.
Losing power steering when I'm driving.
Rear sliding window leaks . Water fill up over the track inside and drain can't keep up with volume of water and make my truck wet inside . Notes bulid mold and rust .
EPS or Universal intermediate steering shaft related issue. Hard steering past 20deg
When driving and making turns, steering wheel will lock up and sometimes try and jerk the in the opposite direction as if to try and straighten itself. “Service Power Steering” warning will pop up on screen for a brief moment and go away. This problem has almost become predictable, happening with a harder turn or when at speed. Never happens when sitting still, rolling steering wheel back and forth. And it happens every day, not just a single incident.
Loss control while going down the highway, as the traction control is not working, I loss control when the road had a slight hill and curve. It has been a little under a year since my ABS module/control as gone bad. This causes the loss of traction control, ABS braking and other issues. This is a safety concern as the traction control is needed and brakes lock up without the ABS. This is a well-known issue with 2012-2017 Ram's. The main issue is the part is not available to correct the issue which makes this an even more serious safety issue.
Been inspected by the dealer. ABS modules as with many other owners cannot be replaced due to a lack of inventory on a vehicle less than 10 years old. Abs and traction control lights stay on as well as having the brakes locking up during wet conditions. It’s completely unsafe and too widespread for the company not to have a solution. Much less at the owners dime due to a flawed design.
The power steering completely stopped working. I originally noticed it was acting differently a few days prior. At that point, it was still working but, steering was ackward. The best way I can think of to describe it, is the steering wheel moved in the positions of seconds on a clock. Similar to a stepper motor. Luckily I was not driving when the complete failure happened. There would be no way to steer effectively. Today I went out for lunch, and the steering was locked up. When I tried to turn the wheel a load buzzing noise seemed to be coming from behind the steering wheel. It is currently at an auto shop but, I may move it to a dodge dealer to have a record of the problem, being there is an ongoing investigation with the NHTSA. The service power steering warning light came on after the total failure. It did not show up when it started acting up. I could possibly make it available for inspection if needed but, I need to get it back in action as soon as possible. Being I have no other vehicle.
ABS and Traction control light is on in the instrument cluster indicating a failure of the anti lock brakes. I took my vehicle to my local Ram dealer and they did a system scan. One of the results was a defective ABS module. I was told by the dealer that a replacement module was not available due to national backorder. They could not give me any date of availability to correct this dangerous failure. I shopped all over for a after market module but was told it was a Ram dealer item only. So I either have to continue to drive my truck without the aid of antilock brakes or try to buy a used module from a scrap yard and see if it will restore my ABS function.
The electronic power steering (EPS) module failed and the vehicle lost all power steering making it unsafe to drive the vehicle. The issue was confirmed after being brought to a Ram dealership to be inspected, the inspection for the vehicle confirmed an "Active" code for C2217. I was told by the dealership that the EPS Module had failed and needed to be replaced, and that the ENTIRE Rack and Pinion MUST be replaced.
Power Steering System Failure Complete Engine Failure Complete Lack of Power Check Engine Light came on March 19, 2024 and the Engine failed within 5 min of it coming on.
Rear tailgate keeps coming open while traveling on highway
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
While driving at approximately 35 mph, the electric steering just quit working. There was a message on the dashboard that said something like "power steering fault, service needed" I was able to steer the truck with extreme difficulty into a parking lot. Called a tow truck which took 2 hours to arrive. At the time the truck arrived the power steering started functioning again. I had tried starting up the truck multiple times before the tow truck arrived with no luck in getting the electric steering working again. It just magically "fixed" itself. I feel I can't let my wife drive the truck since there would be no way she would have the strength to steer it should the truck loose steering again.
I called dealship to schedule the repair of the "high pressure fuel pump" and was told I would be put on a "waiting list" which would be about two (2) YEARS! this is unacceptable to me. The service girl stated the reason being is they do not have "replacement parts" to do the repair and won't have them for two (2) years. I will continue to drive my vehicle and if it breaks down due to the above mentioned issue, it could be very costly for NHTSA to replace. If all vehicles follow this path, I would surmise this will be devastating to your budget. Please find a remedy to make the part available for repair and save us both time and money. Thank you for your time!

The power steering suddenly and entirely ceased to function with no prior warning whatsoever. Prior to that sudden failure there had never been anything wrong with the power steering or the steering function itself. There were no prior warning lights to the failure. Luckily the failure occurred while pulling out of a parking space at 1 mile per hour. The vehicle could then be steered only with great effort. We had the car towed to a dodge dealer and they said the rack and pinion unit needed replacement. I read online that the NHTSA opened on August 4, 2023 an investigation RQ 23-003 into this exact problem that I experienced. This ODI Resume/Investigation report indicates that this sudden or intermittent power steering failure applies to approximately 1.1 million vehicles of 2013-2016 Ram 1500s.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated that upon the start of the vehicle, the steering wheel independently steered to the left and seized in place. The contact stated that steering wheel icon started to flash on the instrument panel with the "Power Steering Service" and "Service Power Steering" messages displayed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where a diagnostic test was performed. The dealer determined that the Electric Power Steering (EPS) control circuit board had caused a short which resulted in the loss of power steering assist. The contact was then notified of NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V167000 (Steering) however, the vehicle was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 130,900.
Turning left out of my neighborhood, the truck veered right instead. I lost control and ran up into a yard. Mechanic diagnosed rack and pinion. There is a recall but MOPAR States my VIN isn't affected. I beg to differ as we almost lost our lives.
I am submitting this report to bring attention to an ongoing issue with the power steering system in my truck, which appears to be under investigation. Notably, a similar problem led to a recall for the same vehicle in the previous year, prompting me to contribute additional information. The problem manifests as intermittent loss of power steering, resulting in increased steering difficulty while driving, accompanied by a power steering warning indicator on the instrument panel. This issue first occurred approximately 8 months ago, at intervals of about once a month, given my limited vehicle usage (estimated at 200-300 miles per occurrence). In the past two weeks, there have been 3-4 instances of this occurring. I turn the truck off and back on and everything works normally. Within the last week something new that presented is that when the wheel is turned sharp to the left or right, the steering wheel would violently jump back the opposite direction. I am willing to make the vehicle available for inspection upon request. While the safety risks associated with this malfunction are numerous, the primary concern is the potential loss of steering ability at any speed, posing a significant risk of accidents resulting in severe injury or death. I have not sought professional servicing for the vehicle due to the intermittent nature of the problem, and as of now, the affected component has not undergone inspection. As previously noted above the power steering warning indicator consi
ABS Service light is on. Brake light also comes on periodically. Replacement part is unavailable. I have been to multiple service locations to have the issue resolved. At this point I'm told by the Dodge Dealer Service people that they cannot order the part until March 20....On top of that the part repair is over $3000. This: 1) is a common problem with Dodge RAMS and many others from what I've discovered in my research 2) Is a safety issue that is not being properly addressed and escalated. 3) Should not be a short supply part if it's a safety component 4) Needs immediate attention by Dodge
Starting in late winter of 2021, I began to experience several momentary instances of loss of power steering and steering fault messages in the cluster, the steering wheel was nearly impossible to move. In January of 2022, I brought the vehicle to Chrysler/Ram dealership for service of the intermittent power steering. At that time my 2016 Ram 1500 Crew Cab 4x2 had 17,000 miles of use. Dealership stated the fault was a dirty EPS connection. After service, the vehicle operated normally until nearly one year later(January 2023) when the power steering completely failed(steering fault warning on cluster) while on the interstate sixty miles from home. It was dark and raining that evening and I was forced to wrestle the vehicle home as I had no means of calling for help. It was stressful and incredibly unsafe. The first appointment available on January of 2023, I returned my truck to a Chrysler/Ram dealership for service. The dealership service department indicated that only a complete replacement of the EPS module/rack and pinion steering assembly would correct the issue. I addressed the 2016 steering recall for Ram 1500s several times with the service department , but was told that the recall did not affect my truck nor was it related to my current problem with the truck. At this time my 2016 Ram 1500 had only 20820 miles.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the steering wheel spun in a circular motion and seized. The steering wheel warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently. The failure persisted and became more frequent. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 129,800.
I am very angry that the drivers seat belt on my Dodge Ram Hemi 2016 is NOT working properly. I bought the truck used in the fall of 2016 and I & my family have been the only drivers since then. The truck only has 92,235 miles on it & has NOT been used for towing, work nor has it been in an accident. I use it to do my grocery shopping. In 2023 November, the drivers side seat belt quit locking in place when used & it won't retract. If I have an accident I will go through the windshield. The truck is NOT safe for me to drive and the issue with the seat belt is mechanical. I am getting all sorts of pushback from the customer service of Stellantis, Chrysler, FCA US, Dodge Ram, & Mopar representatives. The response is utterly inappropriate - THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND FOR A TRUCK THAT HAS SO LITTLE MILEAGE ON IT, THEY NEED TO FIX THE SEAT BELT ISSUE IMMEDIATELY - AND THEY WON'T. Mopar seat belts have a reputation for the tensioner & springs to deteriorate w/o any abuse or misuse by the vehicle owner. "The truck has too many miles on it or it's more than 3 years old." To replace the seat belt with a Mopar seat belt will cost me over $900. I have done nothing wrong with the truck and yet Stellantis et al are trying to require me to pay for replacement. Yes I had the seat belt evaluated by a Certified Mechanic just not at the local dealership. I was also informed that this type of issue is typical as well as the response. TO HAVE A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT YOU'RE AWARE OF AND YE
Abs/Hcu are faulty causing abs and traction control systems to not function causing hazardous conditions while driving
My ABS control module is defective, no replacement parts are available. Antilock braking and traction control does not work. Warning lights are on, malfunction confirmed by independent repair shop.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle experienced a loss of power steering assist. The contact pulled over and restarted the vehicle. The contact was able to drive to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V167000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 109,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated while operating the vehicle, the front driver's side seat belt malfunctioned and did not properly retract, and the locking mechanism would not click and properly lock to secure the driver. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 91,500.
The power steering shuts off randomly.
High pressure fuel pump went out. Dealer refuses to repair stating no parts available since 2022. I purchased vehicle used June 2023, did not know it had a active recall that said "do not sell". Pump went out 4 mo later while driving highway speeds, been parked at dealership for 4 months. No loaner, no attempt to repair, no apology, just say cant do a thing about the 2 year old recall. 1. seems bad faith to sell a flawed veh that has do not sell on recall. 2. no offer to trade it back, fix it or give loaner. 3. repair parts are all over internet including Mopar sales has over 2000 available, dealer said they have no parts.
Engine cooling filter housing is bad. There’s a recall for diesel engines but not 3.6 all needs to be recalled
ABS module, traction control, cruise control not working due to failed ABS module. Yes it can be inspected. RAM dealership saying to drive it. Puts myself, my family, and others at risk due to failed braking. ABS is a safety feature that is required in newer vehicles but isn’t working. Dealer confirmed and also by 3rd party mechanic. Yes. Abs and traction control lights on. Appeared to fully not work December 2023. Had intermittent problems before starting back in 2019. I cannot afford to drive a rental car for the unforeseen future while Chrysler takes their time to figure out a statement. It isn’t right for the customers and other drivers to be put at risk for their engineering problems. Now my truck cannot be traded in at the max value due to the ABS module failure so the customer loses money trying to get from under the non safe vehicle. Please help and save peoples lives by making Chrysler own up to their failed engineering.
Power steering is going out.
FUEL LEVEL SENSER NOT READING , WENT ON VACATION FUEL WASNT READING AN I JUST FILLED IT UP . TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AN THEY SAID ITS WORKING NOW , AFTER WE WENT ON THE WAY BACK IT STARTED DOING IT MORE AN MORE . AN PLUS THE TAILGATE OPENS ON IT OWN ALL THE TIME
I will be driving and all of a sudden my steering gets really hard. Then it’s good for a little bit and does it again
2016 Ram 1500 steering failure. When my truck had around 50,000 miles, the steering wheel became near impossible to turn. Vehicle was towed to Dodge Dealership and was still under warranty and was told it was the steering box that failed. Repair was made by dealership. Truck now has around 130,000, and today, luckily while pulling into work, steering wheel locked up again while driving it and the service power steering lights started flashing. This is the 2nd time the steering in my vehicle has failed.
On the highway at 70mph, vehicle stuttered and lost all power. Engine light came on. On side of road vehicle would turn over but not start. Using code reader got codes cp026 and cp016 indicating low or no fuel pressure. Towed 35 miles to dealer. Discovered next day that fuel.pump had failed and sent debris into the fuel injection system. I have been waiting more than since they notified owners when problem discovered for a remedy as per the recall. Now the HPFP has failed. Waiting on FCA for their solution as this is my only vehicle.
While driving through mountainous terrain, my truck became unable to change gears and illuminated a check engine light and an electronic throttle control warning. I was able to limp it home to the dealership for repairs where they identified that the crankshaft tonewheel had delaminated. This exact issue is addressed in recall W68/NHTSA 20V-475 by FCA with the verbiage: "The magnetic material attached to the tone wheel on your vehicle provides a signal to the crankshaft position sensor. If this signal material is lost, the engine loses its ability to synchronize injector pulses and cam timing. This loss of crankshaft position can result in an engine stall, as well as loss of the ability to restart the engine. A loss of motive power can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning." Incredulously, FCA will not reimburse me for the cost of the repairs because they did not include my VIN in their W68 recall announcement. The exact part failed in the exact manner outlined in this recall, but their method to avoid liability is to simply say my VIN wasn't affected by the manufacturing defect--which it obviously was. Instead, they included my affected VIN in their W58 recall--which like a safe driver I complied with immediately--that only consisted of a software flash and an extended mileage/time warranty on the part (should it fail), that of course failed within 2 months of the warranty period expiring. I cannot understand how NHTSA would allow FCA to exclude VINs from W68 that were

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
