Defect. ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE THROTTLE LINKAGE CAN FAIL TO RETURN TO A COMPLETELY CLOSED POSITION.

Risk. SHOULD THIS FAILURE OCCUR, THE MOTORCYCLE COULD FAIL TO DECELERATE WHEN THE RIDER WANTS IT TO, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy. DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE THROTTLE RETURN CABLE. OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING OCTOBER 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT MOTO GUZZI AT 1-678-238-0902.

THE RIGHT FOOT PEG RUBBER RETAINING PLATE BOLT CAME OUT, WHICH ALLOWED THE RETAINING PLATE TO FALL OFF, WHICH ALLOWED THE FOOT PEG RUBBER TO SLIDE AROUND ON THE FOOT PEG. UPON RETRIEVING THE RETAINING PLATE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE PLATE HAS STRETCHED FROM USE (4500 MILES) AND NO LONGER PREVENTED THE HEAD OF THE RETAINING BOLT FROM TURNING. THE SAME PROBLEM WAS OBSERVED ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE MOTORCYCLE. I HAVE OBSERVED THIS SAME PROBLEM ON ANOTHER BIKE OF THE SAME MAKE ON A PREVIOUS OCCASION. *NLM
