2009 Mercedes Benz C63 AMG

Defect. Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2013 C250, C250 Coupe, C350 Coupe 4Matic, C300 4Matic, C350, C350 Coupe, C63 AMG, C63 Coupe, E350 Cabrio, E350 Coupe, E550 Cabrio, E350 Coupe 4Matic, E550 Coupe, GLK350 4Matic, GLK250 Bluetec 4Matic, GLK350, SLS Coupe, SLS AMG GT Coupe, and SLS Roadster vehicles sold, or ever registered, in the states of Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan), and the U.S. Virgin Islands or "Zone A." Additionally, MBUSA is recalling certain 2010 C300, C300 4Matic, C63 AMG, E350 Coupe, E550 Coupe, GLK350, and GLK350 4Matic vehicles ever registered in the states of Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia or "Zone B." MBUSA is also recalling certain 2009 C300, C300 4Matic, C63 AMG, and C350 vehicles ever registered in the states of AK, CO, CT, ID, IA, ME, MA, MI, MN, MO, NH, NY, ND, OR, RI, SD, UT, VT, WA, WI and WY or "Zone C." In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger frontal air bag, these passenger air bag inflator may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to absolute humidity and temperature cycling.

Risk. An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.

Remedy. MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag module, free of charge. Mercedes issued an interim notification to owners on February 23, 2018. A second notice will be mailed when remedy parts are available. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-877-496-3691.

The tail lamps of my car do not function appropriately - the right tail lamp is completely dead most of the time and the left tail lamp constantly dims and flickers. Mercedes previously issued a recall campaign (no. 2014050001) because "DAG determined that oxidation on the ground pin connector for the rear tail lamps of subject vehicles can result in a dimming of the tail lights or loss of tail lamp functions. . . . [t]he loss of a rear tail lamp reduces the rearward visibility of subject vehicles . . . and may increase the likelihood of a rear end crash." The recall has been performed on my car, but the issues and danger continue to persist. I visually inspected the pin connectors of the tail lamps, confirmed that they still suffer from oxidization (and that they may have slightly burned due to the oxidization), causing the same continuing issues that were at the heart of the prior recall campaign. I reached out to Mercedes' corporate customer service, explained to them in writing that the same issues continue to exist (oxidization of the pin connectors which continue to cause tail lamp malfunction), showed them photos of clear oxidization of the pin connectors, and pleaded with them regarding the continued danger that is caused by the malfunctioning tail lamps. Despite the continuing clear defects and obvious dangerous conditions, Mercedes has refused to provide any assistance to repair the tail lamps. This is a serious design defect, and a quick google search confirms that

FUEL PUMP HOUSING CRACKED AND WAS LEAKING FUEL. THIS IS A PLASTIC PART. THE FUEL PUMP IS LOCATED UNDER THE REAR SEAT, SO THERE WAS FUEL INSIDE THE CAR. I NOTICED A STRONG GAS ODOR AND UPON INSPECTION, FOUND THE FAILED PUMP WITH GAS LEAKING FROM IT.

TAKATA RECALL I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE FROM MERCEDES BENZ OF LONG BEACH ON JULY 10, 2017. WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THEY DID NOT INFORM ME OF ANY RECALLS! I SEARCH MY VIN TODAY 1/05/2019 THRU THE WEBSITE AND I FIND OUT THERE IS 2 RECALLS FROM 2016 AND IT SAYS THERE ARE NO REMEDIES YET AVAILABLE AND THE PROBLEM WAS ESTABLISHED SINCE 2016! I TAKE THIS RECALL SERIOUSLY AS IT SAYS THE AIRBAG MAY EXPLODE AND SHARP PIECES OR SHRAPNEL MAY HIT THE DRIVER CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE EVERYDAY TO WORK,TO DO ERRANDS, AND TO SCHOOL BUT NOW SINCE FINDING OUT THAT THE AIRBAG CAN KILL YOU INSTEAD OF SAVING YOU I WILL STOP DRIVING THE CAR UNTIL THERE IS A SOLUTION. I REALLY FEEL DECEIVED FROM MERCEDES BENZ OF LONG BEACH FOR NOT TELLING ME THAT THERE IS A VERY SERIOUS RECALL REGARDING THE AIRBAGS EQUIPPED ON THE VEHICLE I PURCHASED FROM THEM. IF THERE IS YET TO BE A REMEDY FOR THIS PROBLEM I FEEL AS IF MERCEDES BENZ OF LONG BEACH SHOULD PROVIDE A LOANER VEHICLE UNTIL THERE IS A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. I KNOW THAT IF I CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS IS AND I HAPPEN TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT IT WILL NOT BE A GOOD SITUATION ON BOTH ENDS.
