Defect. Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2010-2013 Range Rover Sport and 2010-2016 LR4 vehicles equipped with 3.0L V6 or 5.0L V8 engines. The fuel outlet flange mounted on the fuel tank may crack, possibly resulting in a fuel leak.

Risk. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the fuel outlet flange, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters were mailed October 7, 2021. Owner notification letters were mailed May 11, 2022. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is N623.

Defect. Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Land Rover LR4 vehicles manufactured August 15, 2012, to September 18, 2012. Due to the use of an incorrect primer, the panoramic roof adhesive may not adequately secure the roof assembly.

Risk. The insufficient bond may result in the panoramic roof assembly detaching from the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will apply the correct primer, free of charge. The recall began in August 2015. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is P065.

I am writing to formally request a review of my vehicle for inclusion in NHTSA Recall 21V-635, issued May 11, 2022, concerning fuel leaks at the fuel tank flange assembly. My vehicle is a 2012 Land Rover LR4, VIN [XXX] . Although my local Land Rover dealer has informed me that my VIN is not currently included in the recall population, my vehicle is experiencing the exact condition described in the recall notice — a fuel leak originating from the fuel outlet flange mounted on the fuel tank. The recall letter for 21V-635 states that all Land Rover LR4 vehicles model years 2010–2016 are included. My vehicle falls squarely within that model year range. Given this, and the fact that my vehicle is exhibiting the precise defect identified in the recall, I am concerned that my VIN may have been inadvertently excluded from the recall population. This issue presents a serious safety concern due to the risk of fire associated with fuel leakage. The symptoms and failure location match the recall description. I respectfully request that NHTSA review my case to determine whether: My VIN was mistakenly omitted from the recall population, or The recall population should be expanded or corrected to include my vehicle. I am prepared to provide photographs, repair estimates, diagnostic reports, or inspection documentation confirming the fuel leak at the flange assembly upon request. I noticed and smelled fuel while parked in garage and researched the recall and was not informed by landrover

My 2012 LR4 engine completely seized on the highway in July 2022 while I was traveling at 75mph. I was incredibly lucky to be in the right hand lane (after passing 2 large trucks) when I heard and felt the extremely abrupt "clunk" come from the engine. The red engine light came on and my LR4 no longer worked. I had to veer off the highway and coast onto the grass. Had I been in the left hand lane still when this happened, the outcome for me and multiple others on the highway that day would not have been good. My Land Rover dealer (where my car was towed back to) confirmed engine failure. They found a torn oil filter and lots of metal shavings in the filter. They also found a damaged piston with indents and grooves on the piston in cylinder 3 and recommended a new engine. In July 2022 (a week prior to the engine failure) I had my car serviced at the Land Rover dealer. After service I noticed a small leak, a clicking noise in my engine at 30-35mph and a feeling of reduced acceleration. I returned to the dealer 4 days after my service visit to check on these 3 things. I was told I had a very small rack in pinion steering leak and that it'd be okay to drive but to bring the car back when I returned from my trip. That is when my engine seized on the highway. I now know that there is a settled lawsuit on timing chain and tensioner issues with the 2012 LR4 (and other vehicles) and that Jaguar Land Rover USA issued a Technical Service Bulletin to dealers in 2015 stating that if a cus

The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 154,062. Consumer received a recall letter from the manufacturer after the vehicle has been repaired and is offering a refund. To quality for a refund, consumer needed to provide authorized Land Rover retailer with the original paid receipt. However, manufacturer and dealer would not refund the consumer. The consumer has stated that Land Rover has agreed to reimburse them and that they declare the issue resolved.

My car has a strong gasoline odor when I drive it as well as when I turn it off and park it. However, especially when parking. In addition, after refueling, the fuel gauge lags for a few minutes in terms of fuel level. As a result of these events, I searched online for vehicle recalls and came across the information on your page. As you suggested, I contacted the authorized Land Rover dealer. After multiple communications and several attempts to schedule an appointment to address the issue, they inform me that they do not currently have the parts in stock to address the issue that the vehicle presents. At the same time, they tell me that if I want to fix it as soon as possible, I must pay for the service and that they will reimburse me once they receive the "recall letter." I am currently awaiting information on the cost of the service, but I am doubtful of the dealer's explanation. I'd like to confirm with the NHTSA that this is the correct procedure. My current concern is that the high temperatures will result in a fire caused by a gasoline leak.

WE BOUGHT THIS 2012 LAND ROVER LR4 WITH 44K MILES ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO. WE STARTED NOTICING A STRONG GASOLINE ODOR IN THE GARAGE EVER SINCE WE STARTED PARKING THIS CAR IN THE GARAGE. THE ODOR IS STRONGER AFTER WE DRIVE THE CAR AROUND ESPECIALLY IF THE TANK IS FULL. UPON RESEARCHING ENTHUSIAST FORUMS ABOUT LAND ROVERS AND ESPECIALLY LR4, THERE SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE AROUND FUEL LEAK DUE TO SOME SORT OF FLANGE THAT HOLDS THE FUEL PUMP IN PLACE. RESEARCHING THE NHTSA DATABASE REVEALED THAT THERE ARE MULTIPLE REPORTS OF FUEL LEAK FROM LR4 CARS OF THE SAME GENERATION. THE COST TO FIX THIS VARIES FROM A FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS TO CLOSE TO TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS. I AM GOING TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER TO DIAGNOSE WHERE IT IS LEAKING FUEL FROM BUT NEEDED A NHTSA COMPLAINT NUMBER TO GO WITH IT SO I AM REPORTING THE ISSUE AS A SAFETY CONCERN DUE TO THE POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD THIS CREATES. WE STARTED PARKING THE CAR OUTSIDE THE GARAGE AWAY FROM THE HOUSE UNTIL WE CAN GET THIS FIXED.

STARTED TO NOTICE A RAW GAS SMELL AFTER DRIVING OR JUST START THE CAR. I LOOKED FOR GAS LEAK BUT DIDN'T FIND ANY. BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. AND THE SERVICE ASSISTANT SAID IT WAS THE FUEL GASKET. SHE ALSO INFORMED ME THAT IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. AND SURE ENOUGH IT WAS THE DUST COVER AND GASKET AS SHE PREDICTED. WAS TOLD BY MY MECHANIC THAT THE TOP OF MY FUEL TANK HAS A PLASTIC LID THAT HAS CRACKED. THE CAR IS LEAKING RAW GAS. HE SAID THIS IS APPROXIMATELY THE 5TH CAR HE HAS SEEN WITH THIS PROBLEM THIS YEAR. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND THE CAR COULD IGNITE IF A STRAY SPARK (TOSSED CIGARETTES BUTT, ETC) WAS NEAR MY CAR. THE ODOR IS EXTREMELY STRONG AND 'HEADACHE INDUCING' IF EXPOSED FOR ANY PERIOD OF TIME. THE GAS ACTUALLY LEAKS OUT OF THE TANK FROM THE TOP WHEN THE CAR IS ON. THE FUMES ARE FLAMMABLE BUT NO ACTUAL GAS PUDDLE CAN BE SEEN BECAUSE THE LIQUID GAS EVAPORATES IN THE HEAT.

THE TIMING TENSION PULLEY FAILED, CAUSING A BOLT TO BREAK LOOSE AND BREAK THROUGH THE TIMING COVER. AFTER BEING REPLACED, 6 MONTHS LATER THE ENTIRE ENGINE HAS FAILED. THERE WAS TECHNICAL BULLETIN ISSUED AS WELL AS DOZENS OF DESIGN REVIEWS CLEARLY ILLUSTRATING THE DESIGN FLAW AND NEAR CERTAIN FAILURE

2012 LR 4HSE STARTED MAKING AN UNUSUAL NOISE AT 47000 MILES. NO WARNINGS OF ANY SORT DISPLAYED. I IMMEDIATELY ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE IT TO THE NEAREST MECHANIC 14 MILES AWAY. CAR STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY ROAD WITHIN 1.5 MILES OF GETTING THERE, AND THEN THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON "TRANSMISSION FAILURE". MAJOR CONCERN HERE IS THE FACT THAT THERE WAS NO WARNING WHATSOEVER, NO TIME TO EVEN PULLOVER - JUST STALLED. ON TOP OF THAT CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY (4 YEARS 11 MONTHS SINCE TIME OF PURCHASE, EVEN THOUGH NOT THERE BY MILEAGE). TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE IT TOOK 5 AND A HALF WEEKS FOR THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO PERFORM DIAGNOSTICS TO CONFIRM THAT INDEED THIS IS A TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND THE CAR NEEDS A NEW UNIT. THIS LAND ROVER HAS BEEN METICULOUSLY TAKEN CARE OFF, WAS DRIVEN PREDOMINANTLY ON THE HIGHWAY, AND WAS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION OTHERWISE. WHY SHOULD TRANSMISSION FAIL AT 47K MILES WITHOUT ANY WARNING WHATSOEVER (SO MUCH FOR SAFETY FEATURES) PUTTING ME AT RISK BY STALLING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH CARS AROUND ME GOING 45 MILES/HOUR? THIS COULD HAVE LED TO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.

REAR END WANDERING, MUST KEEP TWO HANDS ON WHEEL AT ALL TIMES TO KEEP VEHICLE FROM FLIPPING OVER. VEHICLE WAS SOLD BY AN OFFICIAL LAND ROVER DEALERSHIP IN MILFOR. CT AS AN CERTIFIED PRE OWNED AT EXTRA COST. MOST INABILITY TO KEEP THE VEHICLE SAFELY ON THE ROAD I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP. REPAIR ORDER DETAIL STATES VEHICLE SOLD AND NOT CAUGHT BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT BEFOREIT WENT SALES WITH THE FRONT AND REAR SUSPENSION WAS DISREPAIR. RIGHT FRONT AXLE WAS TORN. WHICH ONLY WAS FOUND AND ADDRESSED AFTER RETURNING THE VEHICLE AND INSISTED THE HEAD MECHANIC DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR HIMSELF.
