The fuel system is not designed properly. The fuel pick up tube is located at the center of the tank. While the tank has two lower side compartments that are not accessed by the pick up tube. An aftermarket company called “TacoMoto” has already addressed the issue, developing a better pick up tube fuel system which accesses all the fuel in the tank. The poor engineering design has left me stranded on the highway in a dangerous situation. If I could access all the fuel from the tank, I could’ve made it to the nearest gas station. There is half a tank left in the fuel tank that I can’t utilize because of the poor fuel system design. I need KTM to either pay for the aftermarket fuel system at no cost to me. Or KTM needs to design and warranty this issue again, at no cost to me. This is an expensive bike, no one should half to deal with this issue. Reading this record
No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.
Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
Most recent recall on file: none. Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation.
