Defect. Kovatch Mobile Equipment Corp. (KME) is recalling certain 2024 CV515 SFA 4x4 and Severe Service emergency vehicles. A node may become unresponsive and cause a loss of functionality of connected components, such as exterior lighting and pump-mode.

Risk. A loss of exterior lights can reduce the visibility of the vehicle to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash. A loss of pump-mode function may prevent or delay the use of emergency equipment, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy. KME will work with Fire Research Corporation to replace the node, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 1, 2026. Owners may contact KME customer service at 1-800-235-3928.

Reading this record

No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.

Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.

Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
