I have been having electrical problems with my jeep for a couple of months. I took it in to my jeep dealer that found over fifty problem codes. They cleared the codes and drove it for 180 miles over two weeks and could not get anything to duplicate. Some codes- service shifter, abs not communicating, engine light, no speedometer, sway bar service, service 4 wheel drive, cruise control off, remote start off, and more. They had me take it home and let them know if it continues. It did so I took it to a different mechanic and he came up with 72 codes and he couldn’t track any of them to a source. So I picked it up today and on the way home on the interstate curved overpass going 65 it suddenly veered to the right at the retaining wall. The power steering quite. It was all I could do to keep it from hitting the wall. If it would of been my wife driving she would of wrecked. I was almost home and was able to muscle it home barley able to turn into the drive way. After a while I went back outside and started it and the power steering worked just fine.

Several electrical issues, vehicle issues tying back to the CAN BUSS. The vehicle throws several codes and several components quit working. I lost powering steering at 80 M.P.H and had to fight the vehicle not to wreck out. Then the power steering comes back to function again almost causing me to wreck out. Traction control also stops working when this issue occurs, which is also incredibly dangerous. The vehicle then starts jerking and becoming unresponsive. New batteries, changed Can Buss connectors and no solution. There are hundreds of reported issues with this on the forums. Chrysler and Fiat should be held responsible. These issues are going to be the cause of someone's death. Just because this incident did not involve a "crash, fire or death" does not mean the next will not.

VIN [XXX] Hi everyone, I’m new to the group and hoping for some guidance and support. I tried to message Jeep Cares but the message button does not appear on their profile name. I bought my 2018 Jeep wrangler JKU Rubicon December 2021 with 29k miles on it and by May 2022 my clutch blew out with only 32k miles on it! They said it was the worst they’ve seen (doubt it) and would not cover it. In fact, they wanted $4k to replace it with a mopar one. I told them where to go and bought a centerforce dual friction and had it installed at a local shop for $3,700. I chose centerforce to avoid having issues again with the mopar one. Everything was fine till the rear main seal went out and had to be replaced under warranty. When I got it back there was a ticking noise at the top of the clutch pedal and they didn’t even put the heat shield back in so the cab was hot as hell. I ended up paying a local shop to put the heat shield back in since the dealer said they were behind and would take months. Now here I am a year later. The dealer just installed a new engine under warranty after only 47k miles on the original. They just called to tell me the work is done but btw…the clutch is blown. I told them there’s no way in hell that’s possible since I just put on in on May 2022. I reminded them I reported the noise back when I got it back from the rear main seal being done. I was then told she was going to “talk to her manager “. The next call was to tell me “sorry, we can’t do anything and it’

Sun visor arm has broken multiple times and fixed by Jeep multiple times at my expense. This is a known issue by Jeep. They used a cheap plastic pin in the design. Each time the visor arm breaks the visor drops down into my line of sight blocking my view of the road. This is a hazard and Jeep should be forced to fix every sun visor with a metal pin.

My soft top has never been unzipped, and the back plastic windshield has started to come apart. This causes water to get into my car when it rains. So much water got into my car from the exposed opening in the back window, my car jack actually rusted and cannot be used, so now I have no jack for my car. This opening also causes bugs to get in and lay eyes or make nests, putting me at potential risk to get stung. The water has also caused a build up of dirt on the back windshield, causing extreme difficulty to see out of the back windshield.

Driving Jeep Wrangler Unlimited at posted speed of 65 mph when I hit a rough spot in the road or a seam in the pavement, or a pothole the front wheels jerk back and forth violently until I slow down to 30 mph or less and then continue driving. This is known as the Jeep "Death Wobble" the dealers know about it, it's on YOUTube many times, it is very dangerous because you have no control of the vehicle. The dealer replaced the steering stabilizer on a recall notice, but my Jeep still has the same problem.

The Wrangler will shift out of gear and into neutral and steering become very hard and difficult to maneuver while accelerating from a stopped position and at times at highway speed. On the highway one can coast to the side of the road and shut off engine and restart and move again. This can also be done at an intersection but big safety concerns when pulling onto a highway with traffic, Multiple check lights will come on including check engine, stability control and service shifter. The Jeep has been taken to the dearer for repair to no resolve. Codes are cleared and problem persists. Began at about 70k miles and has persisted since.

Began receiving hundreds of error codes. The vehicle, while operating, would have the lockers engage, disengage, wouldn't start suddenly, ABS activated, sway bar disengaging, and other things. This represented a tremendous saftey risk for any occupants and was quite frightening. We had it at the dealership several times. We spent $1000 replacing both batteries and all harnesses were checked. The problem improved but never was fully resolved. Now a year after all of that work, we are experiencing more problems again.

It's been characterized as the "death wobble." When I approach speeds of 60 mph or more and hit a bump in the road, the steering and front end commences to severely vibrate uncontrollably, lasting up to several seconds. This problem is well documented and pervasive. There needs to be a nationwide recall before there are resulting accidents and fatalities.

Unknown-APPARENTLY THIS IS AN ON GOING WRANGLER ISSUE BUT WAS NEVER recalled AND I SEE NO COMMENTS. I see all over the forums that this is a problem and it is driving me insane coming from the left front wheel well area not only during breaking, but both breaking and slowing down no foot on gas or break. There is a very large, creaking, loud, creaking noise, coming out of that area. It also makes the steering wheel bobble, which I think is causing what everybody is saying, the death wobble. I’ve taken it to Jeep . I have done multiple car washes. I’ve tried everything they are telling me that there’s nothing wrong with it but you can clearly hear that sound and it goes creek creek creek, creek, creek, creek, creek, over and over and over again until the car stopped, and there is also a loud grinding noise when you start the vehicle as well.

I have had the rear defroster tab re soldered at dealer under warranty. I don't use the rear defroster because it is parked in garage. After a cold spell at the end of January 2024 heading out on road trip I turned on the rear defroster, 5 minutes down the road the rear window exploded sending glass everywhere. When inspecting the broken window I noticed a burn mark on a sticker where the tab is connected to the glass. This could have caused an accident if traveling on the highway. Jeep has been repairing window tabs when they should be replacing the entire window.

I have already had this replaced, at a direct expense to me, due to the concern. Jeep has a Technical Service Bulletin (S2023000009) about the passenger seat. It began as a popping/knocking noise in the butt/inside of the seat. My dealer had to replace the lower seat frame/track completely, based on the concern and the bulletin. Before replacement, the seat was audibly broken, with great concern for the safety of the passenger in the event of a crash. Can this be looked into and why it is not a recall? If a recall, I assume I can be reimbursed for my out of pocket expense. I did not want to wait for a recall, as I was concerned for my passengers' safety, as the inside frame of the seat was broken. The dealer told me since it was just a TSB, and not a recall, it was not covered by Jeep.

The steering wheel locks while driving. There seem to be no specific circumstances that cause it. There are forums with other Jeep owners having the same issue. It is definitely a safety concern and should be a recall. The recall that was done did not fix the issue. Dealer and Jeep do not care and will not replace the steering components which Jeep has done before. They can’t duplicate it driving it only 42 miles. The problem is you never know when it is going to lock. The last incident happened on 1/16/2024 but it happened 3 other times in the last few months before this last time. Customer Satisfaction Notification [XXX] Steering Damper The 2018 Jeep Wrangler is experiencing what many are calling "The Death Wobble" due to the fact that when driving at speeds exceeding 50 MPH or so, the vehicles steering system begins to shake uncontrollably. We purchased the vehicle for my son preowned on May 4, 2023 and at that time it seemed to be working fine. However, a couple of months later when I was teaching my son how to drive the shake started and its gotten progressively worst ever since. At first we thought it needed an alignment but that didn't help much. We then took it in for another alignment at Firestone where they reported the wobble and advised me that many Jeeps of that year were being recalled for the Steering Damper issue. I called the FCA Service number (1-800-853-1403) and opened case number [XXX]. I was told that I must take the vehicle to a Jeep Service Center which I did immediately that same day. The Jeep Dealership confirmed the issue and its severity, advising me to call the recall center again. Today when I called FCA again they refused to let me speak to a manager and told me the case had been closed. They refused to help me with this issue based on a technicality. It seems our Jeep is a JK Unlimited and they recalled the JL of that same year (2018-2019). The death wobble looks and feels terrifying because you can lose control of your vehicle. My son is a new driver so this is even more worrisome to me. I've read that many accidents have

I was stopped at a traffic light, when the light turned green, I started to move forward and in approximately 6-7 feet the vehicle come to a complete stop. The engine was still running, the engine light came on and the letter on the shifter started to blink. The rear tires/drive train locked up. This through me forward and I was wearing my safety belt. The vehicle was towed to a jeep dealer ship; the car had to be dragged onto the flat bed. The tow truck driver needed to use a soup product to slide the car on the street and on to the bed. I will not hear back from the dealer ship till next week on exactly what happened. I was coming out of the mall parking lot to get onto the Garden State Parkway. If I had been on the Parkway doing 65 mph, I firmly believe I would have been severely injured. I have been told by the dealer ship they have seen this throughout the brands. The dealer ship sells and services Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep. This is not the dealer I purchase the wrangler from. I purchased this vehicle as a certified used. I find this incident very disturbing and I am seriously concerned about someone getting severely hurt or worse a fatality. I would like to further discuss this with someone, this needs to be addressed.

When going over a bump in the road at speeds above 35 mph the front end shakes the steering wheel and it feels like the front end is jumping up and down and is hard to control. I have spent over 1k in parts and labor including a new stabilizer shock, drag link, tie rod ends and more. It still does it even after these repairs. The front end has been aligned and tires and wheels balanced. The vehicle is dangerous to drive and there does not seem to be a fix for it. FCA said replacing the steering stabilizer would fix it but had no effect. The cause has been labeled unable to determine. I habe had it at two different shops and a lotnof suspension/steering pieces replaced.

My vehicle defrost was on for the back defroster on my way to work as it was one of the coldest days where I live. I work for the fire department and work 48 hrs on. The second day of my shift one of my coworkers noticed the back window broken out on my jeep. Upon looking at what caused it there is burn marks where the rear defrosters touch the window. I initially called the police but they agreed the window was broken due to the rear defroster wires burning the window causing it to break out. Jeep sent out an engineer and is denying all liability. There are TONS of people reporting this on the jeep forums/blogs. I have pictures to prove the burn marks. It appears it happens so often that a jeep sales company “Quadratec” is sold out of replacement rear windows. One guy posted on the Jeep Forum it happened while he was driving 70 on an interstate. Another gentleman posted it happened two times to him as his rear window just broke out. There are tons of pictures on the Jeep blog as well. I have several pictures of mine and it’s still broken. The other day I got a death wobble after hitting a small bump in the road in it. I am a combat veteran with two tours one in Afghanistan and one in Iraq. Let’s just say I have PTSD from driving this thing. I can’t believe someone hasn’t been killed yet. The NHTSA needs to do more on this issue. The complaints are real and this needs to be addressed. Power steering has been locking up at higher speeds above 40 mph. When slowing down to 30 mph the power steering operates again. You can feel the steering tighten up while driving and makes very difficult to change lanes, much less do a full turn. When the power steering kicks back in causes you to overcompensate steering. Almost had a head on collision on street. Also almost drove off of freeway overpass. Dealer has confirmed issue. They have had my automobile for over 3 months with no solution. Numerous posts have been made on Jeep Wrangler forums about same issue. Seems to be exclusive to JL. I only had vehicle for 3 weeks. Issue started in 1st week of ownership. Progressively got worse. Dealer replaced gear box, power steering pump, power steering lines, rebooted software, and replaced center of steering wheel as well. None of these repairs have worked. Concerned Stellantis is not taking this issue seriously and don't want to see anyone hurt. I just want a safe automobile to drive. No warning lights have been gone off.

The vehicle experiences a sudden and dramatic steering wheel shacking with intense vibration and loss of steering control. Seems to mostly happen at speeds above 40 miles per hour when making a turn or after hitting a road imperfection. The dealership has informed that his is related to the “Customer Satisfaction Notification V41 Steering Damper” [XXX] ) and that it should be brought in for service. The issue is that I have attempted to schedule said service over the last few months, however the dealers tell me they are out of stock for the parts needed and can’t use aftermarket part to repair. (The date of incident is a placeholder, this is an ongoing issue) Given that this has been identified as a safety issue, that can cause loss of vehicle control endangering the safety of its occupants and others on the road, NHTSA should pressure Stellantis/FCA (Vehicle Manufacturer) to find a quicker and permanent solution to this problem. Perhaps to include reimbursement for parts and labor outside their dealerships. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
