When driving or starting up the dashboard & radio will be pitch black not showing anything. Now when I started it up the other day I went to stop at a light and the Auto Shut Off warning light popped on and just stopped working. It will frequently reboot itself by radio standards and shut down the entire jeep system.
2018 Jeep Wrangler complaints
Owner reports filed with NHTSA about this vehicle, newest first and reproduced as filed. They are unverified accounts: one proves nothing, and a pattern across many is the thing worth reading. Back to the full 2018 record →
Service shifter comes on and can’t go into. While driving it’ll notify again and lock my steering making every hard to turn. Having to wait 10-30 mins just for to reset and get into gear then coming back on days later.
The Jeep Wrangler JL Sport S (2018), has been having steering issues (death wobble) while driving at highway speeds whenever it encounters a bump or potholes at speeds greater than 60mph. The only remedy is to break and slow down to 40mph, this poses a safety hazard on interstates and highways as the vehicles behind have limited time to react and operating this vehicle while it is vibrating is extremely hard and dangerous in traffic. Myself and my wife have been victims of several road rash incidents as the vehicle's behind don't know what is going on when we slow down to stop vibrating, they have honked us and have even followed my wife for 5 miles harassing her on the interstate. We have an infant at home and are concerned for his safety as he travels with us in the Jeep. The car dealer continues to recommend replacing the "steering dampener" as a remedy but having replaced it twice has not fixed the issue. We need FCA to fix this as soon as possible as operating this vehicle in this condition is not acceptable.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving approximately 48 MPH, there was a burning rubber odor and a loud popping sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The contact stated that Roadside Assistance was called; while the vehicle was being raised up on the tow truck fuel started leaking from a damaged fuel line. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the clutch plate had malfunctioned and came apart creating a hole in the bell housing and damaging the fuel lines. The contact was informed that the transmission, clutch assembly, and fuel lines needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact indicated that the vehicle was previously serviced under the NHTSA campaign 20V124000 (Power Train) for the same failure. The failure mileage was 53,000.

Multiple times the check engine light, air bag lights, powertrain light have went off. I took it to the dealership, they said nothing was wrong and reset the lights. The last time this happened, all power went out on my Jeep Wrangler. I pulled it to the side. Sat for a while and drove 20 home. I called the Jeep dealership and they inspected my car. 160 warnings were on the electric scan. The mechanic called Chrysler--they charged me almost a 1,000 to fix something in the steering column. I have no warranty as it has been over 3 years. I took my car back and the dealership mechanic said he wasn't sure if he fixed it and I should call Chrysler. We did. My case # is 82498233. They said they couldn't do anything about it. Since then, my car keeps losing power while I am driving. I pull it over and sit and then it starts working within 15 minutes. No one knows what is wrong with it. It is a 2018.5 Jeep Wrangler. I am teaching my son to drive on it and it is very scary.
The back seat in my vehicle came off it's mounting points and partially exited the back window during a rear end accident. The seat was folded forward at the time so no one could have been sitting in it in that configuration but: - I don't have confidence that in the regular position it would have held in place with passengers , and - If I had the top off the rear seat would have left the vehicle, possibly injuring others around the crash.
All electrical system failure. Loss of ABS, power steering, cruise control, transmission shifting, traction control, auto start, sway bar disconnect. Fan overruns. All dash warning lights come on. Electrical system will return to normal after several restarts and then randomly fail again.
Sun visor and post fall out of ceiling into line of vision any time you touch the visor. Has happened multiple times just going over a bump. There are 100s of reports of this issues on various jeep sites. The clip that holds the visor in is defective and has happened on both driver and passenger side on my vehicle. This happens on all trim levels and both 2 and 4 door models of the Wrangler for any of the JL series of Wrangler. It has not been corrected to date.
The U-Connect screen is de-laminating. It is also disconnecting the Bluetooth connections for the phone and directions, changing input selections and volume randomly. This is causing me to have to use my phone and try to reconnect or look at the screen to see what's going on. This is causing me to be distracted while driving and also having to stop several times causing delays to deal with the screen not working properly.
The frame bracket for the engine mount has a vertical slot instead of the traditional round hole. This allows the engine to climb out of the mount in case the cross bolt gets loosened even slightly. I discovered this flaw when my engine started twisting and the output yoke on the rear driveshaft was rubbing against the fuel tank. Untreated it could have ruptured the gas tank. The enclosed photo shows the main engine mount bolt having pulled out of the mount and sitting above it. Essentially at this point the engine is not connected to the frame.
Electrical system failure. All indicator lights come on and all safety feature warning lights activate. Automobile loses power and power steering stops working. Automobile then veered right into traffic other lanes of traffic on freeway. The problem has been confirmed by Ken Ganley Chrysler. The vehicle was inspected by Ken Ganley Automotive. Has been taken to the repair shop 4 times. Same problem continues to happen. Several warning lights came on all at once and vehicle lost power steering causing vehicle to veer right abruptly. Problem first occurred at the beginning of April 2022.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the front wheels started to shake and wobble. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was corrected independently. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the steering bow and track bar to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but continued to experience the failure. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 14,480.
This car lost power steering while driving on the expresway. The lights blink, windshield wipers go off, and all the warning lights flash. It will stop and not allow you to drive. I was told it was fixed after a software update but it continues to happen and it's gotten worse. They are now saying it needs a wire harness replacement. This vehicle is very dangerous.
I was driving my wife's vehicle at the time of this incident. While driving at highway speeds (55+ mph) I went over a cracked/uneven section of the roadway. The steering column began to vibrate and jump in my hands. The front wheels were rattling and bouncing, making it difficult to control the steering path of the vehicle. It was only after slowing down the speed of the vehicle that the rattling / jumping of the steering column stopped. The uneven section of road I had gone over hadn't been that severe enough, I thought, to cause any damage. I drive over that same route several times a week and it was no different than before, other than I was driving the Jeep. I asked my wife if this had ever happened to her before. She said it had, but it stopped and she thought it may just be a wearing or broken steel belted radial tire. We were getting the tires replaced soon. After getting new tires, the problem is persisting. The mechanic did not find any damaged wheels or tires, the steering didn't appear loose or damaged. After checking this site for vehicle recalls, but finding none, I was perplexed. After conducting further research I found out about the "Death Wobble" and FCA's Customer Satisfaction Notification V41 Steering Damper fix.
Both side seat release levers to let passengers in and out of the back seat keep breaking. Fast Google search online shows it is a wide spread two door issue. This is a major safety issue as it make egress hard making passengers need to climb over center console. In case of a fire this could cause much harm.
My back window on my Jeep Wrangler will not zip back up all the way. I have only unzipped the back window once, and that was to wipe the inside of the window because it was hard to see clearly though the back window. When I tried zipping the window back up, the zipper did not zip up all the way, and now there is an opening, and water is getting into my jeep. The zipper has never been used except this time, so I could clean the inside of the window. This incident happened about a month ago, and now so much water has come through the opening, it has rusted and ruined my brand new Jack and Jack lift that came with my jeep. Rain gets through the opening, especially if it rains really hard, and a puddle of rain will stay on my soft top, and when I go to drive it after the puddle of rain has been sitting on top of my soft top, that puddle drains right down the pack of my top, and gets down into the hole. I have also noticed bugs and insects getting through that hole and into my vehicle. Mosquitos usually always get through that opening every time it rains, and wasps get through it too. With wasps going in and out of this opening, I fear they may try to build a nest in my car, since they come and go out of that opening. I have 2 small children, and cannot drive around with this opening in my soft top with my kids. That it a dangerous situation, and the rain getting into that hole is ruining the inside of my Jeep.
On Dec. 31, 2021, we discovered the left rear brake had "frozen" the brake pads to the rotor, causing it to drag and smoke. My wife was alone in the car at the time. We managed to limp it to the mechanic and got it replaced. On Feb. 8, 2022, it happened again on the front right wheel. This time she was again alone, 2 hours from home, and it smoked so severely she thought the car was on fire. We got it towed to the garage and this time, with a history developed, we got the other 3 calipers replaced along with the parts they ruined. There is no doubt that her safety is at risk with faulty brakes, whether they freeze or fail to grab. The problem WAS confirmed by the mechanic and he showed me how he confirmed it. He fixed it; no other entities inspected it. FCA US LLC did verbally acknowledge brake problems with that model. Wheel drag and a "burnt" smell started in December, 2021; cause discovered 12/31/21. No other prior warnings.
The jeep will automatically go into park will lock the shifter in park every light on dash will come on You will also lose power steering it will say service shifter service stability control ABS light comes on check engine light comes on error lights will come on and you can no longer move the jeep until you cut it on and off multiple times before it fixes itself have took it to a local jeep dealer and they claim nothing is wrong but you can clearly see all the lights on the dash no power steering and you cannot shift it out of park this happened to us going to get dinner and we were stuck for about two hours before the jeep decided it was ready to go again That was the first time that it had happened Now it will do it daily but we have to drive it because we need means of transportation back-and-forth to work can you please report this as a major issue thank you
Recently, my daughter experienced the vehicle shaking after traveling on the beltway at the speed of 65+ MPH. She informed that she hit a pothole in the road at the high speed and the car began to shake. The history of this vehicle when I leased it new was the same. After having leased the vehicle for less than a year, I experienced the same. At that time there was a recall on the steering stabilizer (believe that was the name). I took it back to the dealership and it appeared to be resolved. I had not experienced the problem again until recently. I just took it to the dealership explaining the problem. They informed me that the steering damper design was outdated and performed a bleed out. After driving the vehicle, I experienced the same problem (traveling @ a speed of 65+ and hit an imperfection in the road). I believe that may daughter or I could lose control of the vehicle if traveling on the beltway and the vehicle shakes uncontrollably; thus, there's a lost of control of the vehicle which will cause a crash.
Vehicle dash goes crazy. all warning lights come on. gauges act erratic. shifter lights blink. service abs, service traction control, service shift warnings flash. fans act erratic. power steering cuts out. when in park vehicle won't shift out of park. sometimes this happens when vehicle is first started. it is now happening while driving. this is a major safety concern since the power steering goes out while driving. i have had this vehicle to the dealership 3 times for this and they keep telling me they can't recreate the problem. when put on the scanner numerous codes come up.
Sun visors repeatedly breaking and affecting visibility through windshield. I have taken it to the dealership twice for replacements and, despite very little use, the issue keeps happening. I am very gentle and careful with the sun visors but despite this it keeps happening. I have installed no hardware or changed any factory-bought hardware that would cause the issue.
The steering is very loose and the jeep wanders on the road. I have experienced i down shifting very hard when braking.
There is a common complaint among owners of 2018 and newer Jeep Wranglers. The visors can become detached from their main support allowing them to impede the visibility of the driver and any passengers in the vehicle. Typically the visors break when being raised or lower, however due to the minimal effort it takes to cause the defect to be created the visor can swing wildly if jarred loose during an accident or driving in an emergency which could strike a driver or passenger in the face or chest. I would like an investigation started into resolving this issues as owners are having to pay for new visors only to have them repeatedly break due to the design.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle drove over a bump in the roadway and experienced the death wobble. After slowing down, the shaking stopped and the vehicle drove as designed. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, the air bag warning light illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in an unknown recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 87,000.
Steering wheel locks up at highway speeds, making it very difficult to make any turns. This can be a life threatening issue in many circumstances. No warning lights come on. It happened to me on 03/17/22 , only after a day of owning the vehicle. I found many threats online reporting the same issue. Not sure why this is not a recall yet. https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/steering-wheel-locking-up.20839/
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving approximately 10 MPH, the contact heard a cracking and popping sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The sound was heard when the vehicle would slow to make a turn to either the right or the left. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact drove the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that there were missing welds and cracks on the spring perch on the driver’s and passenger’s side of the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 58,000.
Car spontaneously begins to violently shake, primarily after traveling over a bridge-road seam or other minor bump in road surface. The shake violently rattles car left to right, violently rattles steering wheel. Occurs at 55-60 MPH and above, when travel in excess of 60 MPH car becomes consistently undriveable at posted speed. Possible to recover if can slow down below 30 MPH, typically must stop car. Safety is high risk due to high speed and very high amplitude vibration, must navigate to safety to stop car (ex: on expressway). Unsure of vehicle control in icy conditions or curves. Have had fellow expressway drivers pull over to tell me they witnessed front tires jumping up and down. Car was just inspected, new tires installed, wheels balanced. Clean bill of health, and issue began. Took to manufacturer dealer, they did not convey any knowledge of issue. However knew what I meant by "death rattle". Technician is replacing steering damper. This is a known issue to NTSA and Fiat Chrysler. While no recall, FCA has posted a consumer satisfaction notice to cover the steering damper replacement, although repair shop claims this is a courtesy extended warranty coverage. The death rattle is no-joke violent and places occupants of vehicle at risk during recovery of death rattle and renders vehicle unfit for safe travel at speeds above 50 MPH. Thought you should know.
At 40,000 miles the Service shifter warning light came on and a barrage of other lights flashed across the dash. Check engine light comes on and all of a sudden I lose all power steering and almost run off the road. The steering only comes back after shutting engine off and restarting it. It is a continuous problem with no warning as to when it will occur. I have it scheduled to go into shop on Thursday for the diagnosis. Either way it is extremely dangerous!
On high speed turns when you hit a bump just right the steering wheel/column shakes violently and the entire front end vibrates to the point where it feels like control of the vehicle is lost.
1) Compromised Battery (a battery purchased in August of 2021 from Interstate Battery|Camp Bowie Blvd|FortWorthTx) 2) Moritz Service Team explained some batteries (via the 3 manufacturers) can have a fail rate or be bad batteries 3) Moritz could not replicate extent of the issues we experienced with a collapsed electrical system on 02.24.2022. 4) Moritz could not explain why the 3rd party purchased battery was “discharged” completely after driving the Jeep and stopping for a short period resulting in the collapse of electrical system. 5) Moritz Team and GM had no explanation for the replacement of 3 batteries for this Jeep in a short period of < 3 years. 6) Moritz Team and GM suggested they have no knowledge of this Jeep product having these type of electrical issues. (See link: https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2018/JEEP/WRANGLER/SUV/4WD%252520Later%252520Release#safety-ratings-frontal) 7) Moritz Service Team and GM recommended returning the battery to its place of purchase for a warranty trade in. 8) Moritz Service Team and GM proposed if a repeat of this event occurs that: A) Moritz Service Team provide a more expansed evaluation of this issue (requiring our solo mode of transportation to be in the shop for an extended period) B) Should Moritz Service Team be unable to identify and replicate issue: a STAR report be submitted to escalate issue to next level engineers for Moritz. As an update: We delivered the Jeep with the 3rd party purchased battery back to Interstate Battery
When you put the car in reverse the screen turns blue. Many drivers of this same vehicle has said they all experience a blue screen of death. I took it to a body shop today and they said it’s because of faulty wiring during manufacturing. A lot of jeep drivers are experiencing this same issue. Jeep dealers do not know what to do. Please issue a recall before someone gets hurt reversing their car.
Front Wheels/Axle Wobble when hitting irregularities in road between 48-65 MPH. Requires slowing down to almost a stop to dissipate the wobble.
My jeep makes a thumping/clunking sound when ever I take my feet off the acceleration and slow down . When sitting in the Jeep it sound like it's coming from the front end suspension but when I stick my head out the window to listen and look for the sound it's clearly coming from the rear axle . I've done extensive research regarding this issue on jeep forums. I've found that this is a common issue among jeep jl owners . all have experience sounds that sound like its coming from the front only to find our it coming from the rear and also to have entire axle replaced. I fear this is getting worst as many has also said that upon inspecting axle metal shavings are found in diffs .
Death Wobble frontend started to shake violently on a major highway. I have only had this vehicle 3 weeks and was never notified of this and put many drivers near me at risk. No warnings were given. Driving at highway speed.
Warning Light on for “ Service axle locker system” and functionality of axle lock is not available
Driver's side sun visor mount failed while driving. Had visor unclipped to block sun in driver's door window while driving on freeway. Mount broke and the visor unexpectedly hit me on the left side of my head, startling me and and almost caused an accident. The wires from the HomeLink switch group was the only thing that stopped it from falling off. From reading online this is a pretty common problem. There are aftermarket parts to fix the problem.
Frame Welds failed, causing the lower control arm to completely detach from vehicle while driving on highway. Yes, it is available for inspection upon request. Yes, my safety was put at risk. Dealer refused to acknowledge problem, did not wish to see photos or video. The repair was completed elsewhere. December 29th - While driving on the highway I hear a loud bang and pull over. Turns out my front lower control arm mount COMPLETELY BREAKS OFF my frame (See attached photos). I call my dealership (Zappone CDJR in Clifton Park NY), they can’t get me in for a few weeks due to their availability. I get a major favor and get an extremely reputable, nationally known, off-road manufacture to fix it for me. While I am there, they tell me - take it in to the dealership, a lot of your welds need to be looked at. Apparently someone attempted to touch up some of the welds by hand, but didn’t do a great job. I purchased this JLUR brand new, actually ordered it from factory so no outside work was done on it. Feb 21st - Finally get it in to the dealership, explain to them the situation and without even looking at it, I already get hit with the “well hopefully your lift didn’t cause it” by the service advisor (Jeff Coon). I even reference the TSB out about welds and get told “well TSBs aren’t covered under warranty its an out of pocket expense”. So I call the support center and get told the same thing frame is not covered under my extended warranty, and my standard warranty is out. Ultimatel
1. Engine 2. Yes. I was on a major highway when the Jeep wouldn't go above 10 miles per hour and almost causing me to get rear ended. 3. I had it at the dealer at least 4 times, they can't find the problem. They replaced ABS controller, still they can't find the problem. 4. The vehicle was inspected by the dealer, not even sure how it passed state inspection. 5. Every warning light came up on the dashboard. The problem started in November 2021. The last incident happened on the night of 2/19, this time the vehicle would go pass first gear...I was driving 10mph.
Steering wheel seems to ( tighten up when going around a curve went right ) this has happened off n on from time to time…. Safety is if the steering whee locks up going around a curve at 30 or more miles an hour and you don’t respond quick enough or pull hard enough the other way you can run someone over. Cause a wreck. This is 100% a safety matter and needs to be investigated not the only jeep having this problem. No one has confirmed the issue or hasn’t caused any accidents ( yet) it is just a scary moment when it Happens I have two kids and don’t need the steering to act up while they are in the car. No warning lamps on nothing let’s you know that something isn’t right. When it happens and all sudden you jerk left or right makes you look like a drunk driver swerving. This has happened 5 or 6 times and just happened 2/18/22 when my wife was on her way home from work. THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT AND INVESTIGATED BEFORE IT CAUSES A DEATH.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, his wife noticed a strong burning odor coming from underneath the vehicle. . The contact's wife drove the vehicle out of the garage and parked outside. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission clutch was fractured, had failed, and had a burning smell. The dealer also diagnosed that the engine RPMs rev up between shifts of the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact became aware that the recall for NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V028000 (POWER TRAIN) was completed on the vehicle in 2021 to prevent transmission clutch failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that the dealer would need to disassemble the transmission and the clutch further for proof that the failure is related to the recall for NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V028000 (POWER TRAIN). The manufacturer also advised the contact that he would need to commit $600 before the dealer disassemble the transmission and clutch. The contact declined. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000.
I have had the rear defroster tab re soldered twice and the rear glass completely replaced. The second time the tab was resoldered 2/11/22, the next time I started the vehicle to warm up, the rear defroster was on and the entire rear window shattered
My vehicle is suffering form the defect described in this recall notice - https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10169208-9999.pdf However, my vin doesn't show as being recalled in the NHTSA lookup tool. This week the same experience was observed while driving over 50mph and hitting normal bumps in the road. A wild vibration/oscillation takes over the vehicle and presents a safety concern for myself, passengers, and motorists around me.
When driving, at random times my dash lights all come on and the following components say that they're unavailable: ABS Electronic Stability Control Sway Bar Disconnect Stop/Start Blind Spot Alert I will then lose my power steering. My speedometer, RPM, and fuel gauges will drop to 0. This has happened both when driving around the neighborhood and while driving on the highway. I have been to two different dealers three different times and they have been able to reproduce and confirm the issue. But they have been unable to fix the problem. Researching the issue myself, I have found several examples of other owners having this same problem. Examples can be found on carcomplaints.com and jlwranglerforums.com. I don't know how many other cars must have this issue before action is taken by the manufacturer, but I consider the loss of power steering and the airbag system a significant safety issue. My vehicle is available for inspection at any time.
Just took my 2018 JEEP Wrangler Unlimited JL in for the improved steering feel recall. The jeep was working just fine until after the software update just miles after update lost all power and shut off and wouldn't restart. I couldn't even get it to turn over enough to put it in neutral to put it on a tow truck. Finally got it restarted, back to the dealer and was told fuel pump was out. Service Bulletin #S1808000167, FCA discusses the reasons that the vehicle won’t start or there is lost contact with the fuel pump control module.
*Steering issues. The steering has locked up multiple times. Once in a parking lot. Every other time has been on the highway at speeds over 65mph. Yes, it is available for inspection. *If there had been a sharp curve or a reason to quickly maneuver, I would not have been able to. *No, it is out of warranty dealer let me know it's my problem. *No has not been inspected by police or others. *No warning lamps or any other symptoms prior to it happening. I've pulled over and inspected it each time. I do not find anything loose or binding that would cause this. Also, by the time I pull over it no longer does this.
Instrument cluster failed at 5 AM (completely dark) when wife on interstate on way to airport: no speedometer, no odometer, no gas gauge, no “idiot” lights, and so on – all of which have safety concerns associated with them. Took 2 weeks to get appt. w/ dealer. When they found there was no odometer on the cluster, they in essence impounded the vehicle – something about legally they could not let her drive it until the replacement cluster came in. This indicates a serious safety and/or legal liability issue. Couldn’t estimate how long that would be. Vehicle had only 29,481 miles on it! <Many customer service issues followed but for brevity will not elaborate here.> It took two trips to dealer and $1241.72 to complete the repairs. (Somehow they were able to get the odometer setting on the replacement cluster matched to actual mileage by an internal mechanism I didn't understand.) Please note that the Jeep forums indicate this problem was not an isolated incident! Filed claim for reimbursement of repairs and was flatly denied. Service record, complaint to Jeep, and (unsatisfactory) response attached. I recommend a recall for this defect. Please let me know the results of your investigation. Thanks!
I took to my local mechanic after noticing that the car shakes very time i hit bumps while driving my mechanic inspected it and noticed that there's a crack in the the weld in the front track bar bracket. same as the safety recall UA5 that FCA has for the same year and model jeep for that year and when i called them they said that mine was built after that by a month.
Multiple occurances of steering locking up(power steering failure?)all on cold mornings, turning left and around 35-40 mph 12/21/21: While driving down a straight 2 lane rd prior to dawn, I lightly steered my vehicle right to move from center of rd to right hand side. When I attempted to steer back left to correct the vehicle straight, I was unable to move the steering wheel at all to the left resulting in me driving into a mailbox & damaged both vehicle & mailbox. Vehicle drove home fine w/out further steering issue and problem couldn't be replicated. 1/11/22: Another cold morning(appr 32 degrees), warmed car up for 15 mins(to take kids to school). Came to a 30 degree left turn & again noticed the same issue of steering locked up and unable to turn left into curve until I used both hands/arms to apply a significant amount of physical force(again barely missing a mailbox). Then I couldn't correct back to the right w/out applying same force so ended up in oncoming lane of traffic. Thankfully there was not an oncoming vehicle since I had 2 kids in the car & could've had a head on collision. Steering started working again before vehicle even came to a stop. 1/27/21: Cold morning again, warmed car up as usual, & had the same steering failure on same left hand curve as on 1/11 but this time steering ability returned quickly and safely made through the turn. Oncoming vehicle but steering returned quickly enough to avoid issues. I've since learned that FCA has a new 'campaign' out f

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
