While driving the vehicle shifted from drive to neutral.I was able to coast to the road side without incident.I had the vehicle towed to a local repair shop, but they were unable to duplicate the problem. Two weeks later this occured once again.I took it back to the shop and again they were unable to duplicate the problem. At this point i feel it is a safety hazard to operate this vehicle in traffic.I was lucky that both times it has happened i was on a highway that was not busy.

The crankshaft sensor tone wheel is damaged. I found that there was a recall on this item on our make/model and year of our Jeep. It's recall number W68/NHTSA 20V-475 and W58/NHTSA 20V-475. The dealership is refusing to follow the recall and make the repair and quoted us over $3,000 out of pocket to fix a known and recalled problem with our vehicle. I'm not understanding how it is legal for them to refuse to fix a known problem on a vehicle that isn't outside the parameters in terms of years old, or years since the issuance of the recall. We have spoken with multiple people who simply tell us they don't know why, but our vehicle isn't covered under the recall. Can you please point me in the direction as far as next steps or do we just need to hire our own legal council to have this problem addressed and rectified? Our Jeep is currently at the Dealership located at 12410 E 136th Ave, Brighton CO 80601 Phone number 303-654-1940. They did the trouble shooting and can confirm that this is the problem. They were also aware of the recall and unsure as to why Jeep was saying it wasn't covered.
The contact owns a 2014 Grand Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the "Service Shifter" and "Service Transmission" messages were displayed, and the transmission erroneously shifted to neutral, causing the vehicle to suddenly decelerate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the shifter, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 105,000. The VIN was not available.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? --It was taken by Jeep when they repaired it. They likely have it. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? --I was at a complete stop when the headrest deployed into the back of my head causing sever injury. There was no impact. The headrest slammed the back of my head. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? --Yes, and there have been news reports about class action suits, but there was no recall. In fact, they notified owners that if you hadn't had a problem then you're okay. No need to do anything. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? --Manufacturer (jeep) Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? --No
I was driving home from dinner and while driving I got a notification on the dashboard and then few moments later it locked up and everything started turning off. Incuding the radio, AC but not the car. The car would not drive once I got it on the side of the road. The car would not turn off due to not being able to place car in park. It was stuck in drive. My husband had to come over and put his foot on brake and take over the wheel. He then hit the power button for 5 seconds and it went into park and turned off. We called a tow company to take it to dealership to get fixed. We seen we had some recalls so we asked if that was the issue they said yes and ordered parts to fix. Days and weeks went on got car back and when I drove home my car I will say does not feel safe for me to be in nor be on the road. I had smoke inside my car where battery is when on side of road which one day will be where my kids are. Also they said nothing was wrong with alternator but when on side of road I could smell burnt alternator. They said was fine and recall wasn't needed. I do not feel safe at all nor does my husband feel safe driving the car. Dealership we bought from never told us about the recalls when we bought in 2020, and now this dealership saying it doesn't need to be done we do not feel the car is safe to be on road and will be fire hazard down road.
Vehicle jerks when moving forward or reverse. Vehicles feels as if it 's being rear ended going forward or being hit hard from the front going reverse. This jerking motion is exaggerated more when the steering wheel is turned left or right - very dangerous when parked near a vehicle front/back. The vehicle now also gives an error message to "service 4-wheel drive system" then a few seconds later the Electronic Stability Control warning light , lights up. I only have 62K miles on this vehicle bought it brand new. Took to the dealer for regular oil change and informed about the issue. Dealer changed oil but would need to do a diagnostic for another day. Will drop off vehicle in 4 days.
The shifter has a manufacturer issue the car while it is accelerating throws itself into neutral on its own. The car could be in drive and it'll throw itself into sports mode on its own. It'll drop down the acceleration on its own as if it's shifting on its own. Car could be put into park and the shifter will throw it into neutral or in reverse. Contacted Chrysler they refusing to honor the recall cleaning there's an expiration date. This has been reported to you guys many people have the same issue ( 19V447) I literally almost died with what the shifter is doing and I need them to honor their recall this is a safety hazard that can kill or answer anyone easily
My oil cooler has failed and it caused oil to mix with my coolant and also causing a bad coolant leak. It over heats to car and my warranty will not cover ANYTHING! This is a major problem with diesel jeeps and the oil cooler needs to be recalled also. It can catch on fire and is a real safety hazard. I’ve tried multiple times to fix the oil cooler and leak. Jeep will not fix my recall at all. A recall that is on the vehicle and can cause a fire!
The headrest restraint in the driver's seat spontaneously deployed hitting the back of my head while I was driving. It is available for inspection. The deployment was startling/surprising - quite a distraction - my impulse was to turn around to see what hit me - it wasn't readily apparent until I re-oriented my body in the seat and found my headrest had moved forward making it uncomfortable to drive. A web search indicated other Jeep/Durango owners have experienced this - some are attempting to "reset" the headrest on their own. A call to Chrysler/Jeep customer care confirmed that the warranty on this item had been extended to 14 Mar 2023 - no recall. I was not notified to my knowledge. They declined to help me. The vehicle has not been inspected. There were no leading indications of a failure, nor is there an indication currently, other than the headrest is split open and it is uncomfortable to drive. Why has a safety device that has obviously failed in multiple cases and was known to the manufacturer not become a recall?! This is irresponsible! The dealer indicated there is no means to repair this - a replacement headrest. In light of the cost of "repair" it is no wonder owners are trying to fix this on their own.
We have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 5.7L Hemi engine. Today on XXX, we were moving slowly in traffic on a street in Linden, New Jersey, and suddenly the vehicle accelerated by itself. My wife pressed on the brakes all the way to the floor but the vehicle kept jumping forward - the engine was revving and trying to move the vehicle forward while my wife was firmly pressing on the brake pedal. Because we were in stop and go traffic, the vehicle eventually lurched into the car in front of us and caused an accident. The front of our vehicle was damaged as was the rear of the car in front of us. This sudden acceleration has happened a few times in the last 3 years. During the previous instance of this sudden acceleration, on [XXX] we also hit a car in stop and go traffic. The air bags deployed and we had extensive repairs done because of that. This happened another time as well. During that instance, we did not hit anything, and the only way we were able to stop the car was by switching the gearshift to the Park position. Unknown failure of oil cooler system resulting in oil leaking into the coolant
While driving it shifts into neutral
Fuel pump failed. Electric control module/system failed. I have been having these problems since 2021. When it first started my car stalled out, completely died, and started rolling (even though I was pressing the brakes) - I had to pull my E brake and luckily stopped an inch away from hitting the car in front of me coming to a stop because the light turned red. My entire car shut down. I had to get a tow. I took it in to a shop and they had no idea really what happened or what it was. They told me a bunch of stuff was bad (thousands and thousands of dollars worth of stuff) and I ended up only getting whatever was absolutely necessary which was the fuel pump and battery. $1300 later it was driving at least. Ever since then my gas gauge has NEVER been accurate and just goes up and down randomly. I have to track my gas by resetting the miles of my “total trip” when I fill up. My dashboard constantly went on and off and I never knew what was accurate and what wasn’t. About 6 months ago my dashboard went completely black and hasn’t came on since. My car is now barley taking over 4 gallons of gas at a time before the auto stop on the pump cuts off. If I try refilling anyways gas overflows. This makes absolutely no sense. I can’t see how fast im going, hear my blinkers go on and off, see how much gas I have, how many miles are on my car, any check engine lights, and now I can’t drive over 75 miles without having to “fill up” my measly 4 gallons again before the pump shuts off. I wa
I was driving down the freeway when I felt my headrest strike the back of my head. This caused a momentary distraction as my head was pushed forward and the back of my head was struck. The headrest component of the safety restraint system deployed. It is available for inspection upon request. The dealership inspected and said this is a known problem but they would not cover the repair as it fell outside of their warranty period which ended 10/2023. It would be a cost of $800+ that I would have to pay. There are no warning lamps/messages currently illuminated or displayed. Incident occurred May 30, 2024
Vehicle was parked in my front yard and sometimes between the hours of 830am and 3pm the driver side headrest activated (popped). No warning lights before or after it activated. Issue could have caused an accident and possibly caused injury to myself or my children had I been driving when system activated. Vehicle is available for inspection Issue is a known problem as a simple Google search would show
Passenger seat, headrest deployed, spontaneously going down the road.
Oil filter housing failure, this caused oil to be expelled all over the engine compartment. The oil could have hit hot exhaust and caused a fire, engine lost power due to no oil. Taken to Jeep dealer and they told me this is a common issue on this style motor. No symptoms prior to part failure.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the driver's headrest fractured. The contact stated that when the failure occurred, the contact suffered a hard impact to the back of the head. No medical treatment was administered. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with failed plastic clips within the headrest. The contact was informed that the driver's headrest needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.
Unknown--I wonder if the air bag will still work like this. The cover seems to be shrinking/glue not holding. Pictures attached.
May [XXX] 2023 - Car would stop, shift in neutral going at any speed. had to pull over stop car, restart and slow start again while jeep would shift, jump and clutch. May [XXX] - Jeep was in shop to put a "bandaid" over issue. May [XXX] 2024 - Car transmission doing same issue along with a leak. Car would shift in neutral on hiway, transmission sounds like it's dropping. -----[XXX] This recap is exactly what is happening to my jeep but for some reason my VIN is not protected under this same issue but I do have the same engine. Passenger side, headrest deployed for no reason overnight
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The passenger-side Active Headrest of my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee exploded as I was driving last week. After inspecting it myself, it appears that the plastic parts that hold the headrest together broke. This seems to be a common problem after googling the issue. It is available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? This could have caused a head injury. I am worried that if the driver's side headrest explodes while I am driving that it could cause injury or cause me to crash. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The dealership I spoke to said that the warranty had been extended for these active headrests (So it is a known issue) but that extension is expired so I would have to pay out of pocket to have them replaced. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? This happened spontaneously with no warning.

I've been driving a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. Here are the list of problems I have experienced / still experiencing. 1. Vibration when accelerating through 20 to 30km/h (still exists) 2. Rough, jerky upshifts from 1st->2nd and 2nd->3rd gear (still exists) 3. The car jerks forward suddenly, almost like being rear ended, when coming to a stop. (still exists) 4. Rattling noise from the glove compartment. (still exists) 5. Rattling noise from the back side of the car. (still exists) 6. Loose bolt inside the trunk door. 7. Rattling noise when the car first drives after engine's turned on. (still exists) 8. When using the climate control, the screen often doesn't change to reflect the current climate settings. (fixed) 9. Extremely loud buzzing sound that appears out of nowhere while driving. (still exists) My cheif complaint is the transmission issues that I’m experiencing. I’m afraid to take this SUV on the highway. It’s a safety hazard.
I was travelling down the road at approximately 30 mph and my the active headrest on the passenger side randomly deployed. This caused an extremely loud noise that sounded like an explosion. This caused me to swerve and slam on the brakes. It was unclear, at the time, what was happening. This has now caused extreme anxiety that it will happen on the driver side, while I am driving, and cause bodily harm or cause me to wreck, which could be potentially fatal. It appears that the clips that were holding it on just broke, or gave out, causing the deployment. After researching this I have found that this is a well known problem with this vehicle and has caused injury to others. When looking up my VIN number it says there are no recalls. It appears as though this is an expensive fix, which should be covered in full because it was a known default that Jeep continued to manufacture in the same way. I am not having to drive Leaning forward, because of fear of injuries if the drivers side does the same. And passengers have to ride with a deployed headrest that will not provide the protection it was supposed to provide in the event of a wreck, and that could cause additional harm because of it already being deployed.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while in reverse and attempting to shift into the Park position, the vehicle rolled backward independently and crashed into a tree. The air bags did not deploy. No injuries were sustained. The vehicle was able to be driven. No police report was filed. As a result of the failure, the shifter needed to be moved upwards before being able to shift the gear in the park position. A few years later while coming to a slow stop to place the vehicle in park, the gear shifter failed to remain in park. The vehicle continued to roll forward causing the rear driver-side door to hit the barrier around a nearby mailbox. The air bags did not deploy. No injuries were sustained. The vehicle was able to be driven from the scene. No police report was filed. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Investigation ID Number: PE15-030 (Power Train). The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they were not able to diagnose the failure and confirmed that there were no recalls. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.
The engine still make a sound and the body when is raining the water came inside
When driving my vehicle goes into neutral when I press the gas to accelerate when coming to stop at a red light and trying to accelerate again vehicles switch to neutral
The Z46 Manufacture Campaign has been open for an extended period of time. I have not been able to have my vehicle fixed because of a continued lack of parts at the dealership. I have had my vehicle in for service on multiple occasions and each time I am told "the parts are on back-order". I dropped my vehicle off this morning and again was told "the parts are on back-order".
The problem with my vehicle is with emissions system which was covered under the Ecodiesel Extended Warranty lawsuit the EPA filed against the manufacturer Stellantis. My jeep has been down at Crystler Dodge Jeep Ram dealerships for 2 years. The extended warranty states they would repair problems, but they have not. I was told today that they will only give me 8741 for my car but they want to keep it. I’ve had to go to the hospital twice from the first dealership that had my car for a whole year giving me carbon monoxide poisoning. I’ve been paying full coverage insurance for 2 years. This manufacturer has placed and is placing me in a hardship. They said they would/ coukd repair my car and stayed in writing they would have certified techs working on my car, they had the parts manager working on my car and almost killed me. Now, their leadership is trying to bully me into selling them my car for this low ball amount. Why didn’t they offer to buyback before putting me through 2 years of hell. Is it Leah’s to breach a binding legal contract they agreed to honor. I am aware they are to suffer penalties for not honoring the warranty, and for not keeping databases updated by VIN. I was told my parts weren’t covered for months, I had to constantly show them the warranty said the parts were covered they trying to charge me for. I want my vehicle fixed under the extended warranty. I want compensation for this excessive time, and for them not honoring the consent decree they told the
While driving the vehicle the headrest deployed striking the driver in the back of the head. Action happened while turning onto a residential street. Driver stopped to access the damage. Driver sustained a headache from impact. Headrest will not reset. If system deployed while driving down the highway it could have resulted in traffic accident. Concern for the owner as subject has severe spinal issues and impact could result in fatal damage. There is no codes visible at this time.
While driving at about 50 mph, the transmission shifted into neutral and would not allow me to shift it back into drive while moving or stopped. This put me in a very dangerous situation as I was in traffic and in the left lane on a 4-lane road. After about 10 minutes of the engine being shut off, it started again and ran just fine. A check engine light did come on, giving error code P0205 and U0002-88 when scanned. I believe the latter code is a stored code from a previous issue. No warning lights were on immediately prior to the incident. This is the second time it has happened in the span of about 4 months. The mechanic was not able to diagnose the cause after the first occurrence. After the second occurrence, the local Jeep dealer was contacted; they were not aware of any such issues and recommended adding fuel injector cleaner and changing the spark plugs/getting a tune up. The dealer did not inspect the car. The next day the check engine light went off, though the code may be stored in the car’s memory.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. The contact received the NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) which was completed. The contact stated that after receiving the recall remedy, fluid was leaking under the vehicle. The contact drove the vehicle to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel filter housing leaking fluid. The dealer recommended the contact go to the original dealer who remedied the recall. The contact stated that the original dealer diagnosed and replaced the fuel filter housing and the high filter fuel line. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and no case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 192,000.

7/2020 lifters and cam failure @65k miles. 4+ weeks dealership did repairs. They never disclosed the major engine repair or gave me any paperwork while I waited to pick up this jeep after I purchased it. 8/2020 lifters and cam repaired. 19 miles & 1 day spun crankshaft bearings & damaged cylinder walls. 1.5 weeks for dealership to get a new Mopar 6.4 Hemi long block vvt mds engine. 8/2020 new Mopar long block 6.4 hemi installed at dealership. paid $2k since I didn't know about the dealerships concealed major repairs. 8 dealership and 3 penzoil. Dealership said the 60/100k warranty I paid for with the previous mopar long block engine purchase was not activated ànd they had no record of it other then the work order/repair bill I have, with start date & miles and end date & miles And deductible. Jeep customer care said my jeep was imported from Canada and is void of any and all parts warranty. So that's why dealership couldn't register my jeeps engine warranty. Sale person said the jeep was USA built spec but it's a Quebec Canadian build spec imported into USA. I got the original window sticker downloaded its French & metric. So no warranty. Fraudulent sale of a gray market import with no disclosure of the major issue they tried to repair while I waited for my jeep. I alread
The first time it happened, I was driving on the highway going 70 when all of a sudden the transmission jumped into neutral, which caused me to jump several lanes to get off the highway to avoid being hit by several cars. I was scared to death!! It has has happened several times after that..There are no warning lights that comes on, it just goes from drive to neutral on its own. I’ve taken it to a transmission shop and was told there was nothing wrong with the transmission but there is definitely a problem and a safety hazard for sure!! after looking online, there’s definitely an issue with the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokees, this is extremely dangerous.
Was driving and vehicle overheated and in seconds my motor locked up right in the middle of an intersection tried to reach out to the dealership I bout it from. They sold and the old owner had everything never got back to me still to this day no one has helped me just found out about you guys so I am still here paying on a vehicle that's motor locked up on me! I have not been able to get anyone to look at the vehicle at this point I've ruined my credit and am about to let the Lender come and get it. This is the last stop for me!

When I put my Jeep in park it goes back into neutral
The car down shifts while apply light pressure to the gas pedal mostly on an incline there is a slight clunk and the engine shuts off. This mostly happens at 70 MPH on the highway from 8th gear to 7th gear but has happened in lower gears as well. The power to the engine is cut. Everything else works no lights flash just no power to the motor. I have to pull over put the car in park and restart and the car drives normal again. This happens about once per month but I baby the car so it could occur more often if I push the engine more. A great example is if I am behind someone about 50 mph and coasting then I press on the gas pedal to pass them the car seems like it will gasp for fuel then clunk and the engine shuts off. This has been going on for several year now and no one has an answer. The dealership said once there were no codes, another time they said the oil pressure switch is bad. The car now has 172,000 miles on it however this has been happening when the car had under 140,000 miles on it.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) and 23V411000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
I am driving on the highway and my vehicle goes into neutral on its own it’s very dangerous and almost caused an accident from what I was reading there was a recall for the software for the transmission this happened quite a few times and needs fixing
NHTSA recall # 23V-411 (FCA#66A) was performed, but did not fix the issue with lost power. Even though the recall "fix" didn't work, FCA said that the proper fix wasn't covered, because the vehicle isn't under warranty. According to the dealership, the tone wheel needs replaced, and they said FCA should cover the cost.
AIR BAG EXPLODED WHILE DRIVING DESTROYING THE NAV, CRUISE CONTROL AND ELECTRONICS
My youngest son was away at college, using the vehicle to go to and from class. He was driving the Jeep home for summer break when suddenly, the wipers turned on and the dashboard warning lights lit up the dash like a Christmas tree. He did not know what to do, who would? Then the dashboard went completely black. He tried turning off the wipers and then suddenly the car shifted into park in the middle of traffic all on its own, with cars on both sides. He was fortunate that he was not rear-ended and severely injured. My son is a cautious driver, as he fears any accident that could end his athletic career. He pulled over and turned the jeep off and then on and things looked normal. No more flashing dash warning lights, so he continued down the road, hazard lights on, paying close attention to vehicles around him. The dashboard warning lights were flashing repeatedly, vehicle auto shifting itself, dash going completely black and vehicle stalling in moving traffic...this happened several times on his way home. What my son experienced on the road, has happened to me several times since. It is a very frightening and dangerous experience. I believe I have been grossly misled by Chrysler Jeep Sales and continue to be misled about the soundness of my vehicle and the after reporting to the AutoNation (Chrysler Jeep) Service Department, the dangerous situation my family was in by driving my Jeep, I feel I was not dealt with fairly. Is this how they treat all customers or is it because

What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
