This vehicle is equipped with remote start as a factory option. I was checking things under the hood, with the keyfob in my pocket. The start button must have inadvertently been pressed. To my surprise, while I was poking around under the hood, the engine started. Luckily, I heard the fuel pump and other electronics power up and got clear of everything, but I was quite surprised to have the engine start while the hood was open. I thought there was supposed to be an interlock that would prevent this. I could have been seriously injured if my hands would have been near moving parts and I not noticed an imminent engine start. I will be contacting my dealer to investigate, but thought I would report it here, too. This situation should never happen.

The wire harness for the doors, which are designed to be removed easily, doesn't function properly causing pins to become bent when being reinsert. This causes several systems to malfunction and alert improperly. The blind Spot assist and cross rear warning is affected. This a common and known problem amongst Jeep owners who removed their doors.

Uncontrollable wobble in the front end that starts after 50mph. I have seen many other online comments about this, and they are saying Jeep cannot fix it. This is absolute fatality waiting to happen. This needs to be addressed immediately before someone dies, if it hasn't already happened. This issue goes back quite a number of years. There has not been a recall on this and I cannot believe that. I have seen that there has been a class action law suit filed by Jeep owners, and I am astounded that nothing has been done. I am hoping NHTSA can help us before something happens. Thank You.

On February 25, 2023, while slowing down as I approached an intersection controlled by a red signal light and applied my brakes which was slowing me down. My foot never moved off the brake pedal as I slowed down. Suddenly, the Jeep Gladiator "accelerated/surged" forward and stated gaining speed. Although I was applying constant pressure on the brake pedal, the vehicle never slowed down or stopped because after traveling 200-300 feet and striking two signal light poles and a communications box, the vehicle came to a stop. This was the third incidence of Sudden Unintended Acceleration (SUA). Tshe vehicle is available for inspection and under the supervision of Safeco Insurance. In this case, injuries were limited to a passenger broken toe and the driver being bruised. Similar accidents involving striking stationary poles resulted in death but we were spared that outcome. The first instance of SUA occurred on a street near my home and while applying constant pressure on the brake pedal, the vehicle finally skidded to a stop after traveling approximately 200 feet. The second instance of SUA occurred while pulling into a parking lot, and again, after applying constant pressure on the brake pedal, the vehicle came to a stop after traveling approximately 300 feet. After the first and second instances, I took the vehicle into the dealership, but they could not find anything wrong. The police report blamed an electrical/mechanical failure. No warning lights or messages were noted.

While driving at highway speeds and the vehicle goes over a bump, bridge connection, etc the vehicle goes into an uncontrollable “death wobble”. This began with less than 10,000 miles on the vehicle, and the vehicle has not had any alterations from factory (factory wheels, tires, suspension, etc.). I brought the vehicle to the dealer in Oct 2022, and a part was on national backorder, after 2 months it arrived and was installed Dec 2022, and the problem persists and now the dealership says a different part is needed, also on nation back order. When you are driving the vehicle and the “death wobble” starts it is extreme shaking of the vehicle front end, and steering wheel. The only way to fix is to slow the vehicle down to 25-30 mph, which can be very dangerous on the highway, especially when in the fast lane on a busy highway with other traffic traveling between 65-80 mph. This has occurred well over a dozen times, and has not only been frightening each time but a few of those times my vehicle has become a hazard to other drivers to avoid. Currently I cannot feel safe driving the vehicle on the highway and have been confined to local driving on city roads.

In December contacted my dealer about my vehicle catching fire. Due to a clutch recall that the maker already knew about. I was blown off as if the problem didn't exsist and told the dealer would not honor Jeep warranty so not to bring it there. The next option is an hour away and they were booking 2 months out. Then in March I looked up the recalls and the exact issue with my Jeep was recalled now on my Jeep with no remedy. This recall has been open on these since 2020 with no remedy. Called Jeep and they have no remedy or care in helping me make sure my brand new 2021 Jeep doesn't burn down. Also, the clutch has caused my transmission to now start slipping in 3rd gear. Someone needs to hold Jeep accountable.

In the last two months my truck has developed an issue at high speeds when a bump is gone over that causes the front end to shake violently. The only way to stop the vibration is to slow down which can be hard to do on the highway at 70mph without causing an accident. The problem occurs without notice or warning and the bump does not have to be large. Have taken in to dealer and the front stabilizer bar is loose and allowing play in steering system. Have been told at least 2 months before parts arrive. The shaking has happened twice in just the last week. It appears to be getting worse with each mile driven. I do not feel safe driving this truck but have to keep driving it.

October 2022 at 19000 miles the vehicle started getting steering wheel wobble after crossing bridge seams at 70mph. It gradually got worse until we'd almost loose control so in November I contacted the dealer and FCA. They have had it back in the shop, replaced the steering dampener, track bar, and are now waiting on more parts to replace because they are unable to find the root cause of this steering issue. I see a lot of people reporting the same issue and having the same experience. Since the vehicle randomly causes loss of control, I am looking at arbitration to get it replaced via the lemon law. Jeep needs to be forced to recall these vehicles and either fix or remove ALL of them from the road.

My 2021 Gladiator frequently experiences the Death Wobble at Highway speeds when I hit bumps in the road. We received a postcard in the mail references the problem with 2018 - 2020 Jeep Wranglers and Jeep Gladiators but not 2021 and this same problem is happening. It is very scary when you hit a bump and the steering wheel just starts shaking like crazy or as referenced above a Death Wobble.

During show fall the snow gathers in the head lamp dishes causing them to fill and block out the light. This causes me to pull over and clear the head lamps so I can see about every mile or two. This is a known problem due to not having heat to melt the snow from the head light. Jeep knows this since there are companies out there selling heated head lamps. I was almost hit last week during the big snow fall we had in Western Washing ton Dec 2022. also in the mountains in CA. Where I lived. in 2021 in Tehachapi CA. This is a major safety hazard for driving and having to pull over to clean headlamps while driving on highways opening up personal safety out of the vehicle in inclement weather. While driving down the highway, the vehicle went over uneven area and sent the vehicle in a violent jumping motion. We had to slow down in the middle of the highwayand then pull off to the side. Vehicle is 2 years old, with only 21,000 miles. Driving on the freeway, above 65mph, the vehicle wobbles violently if you hit a pot hole or a small bump. It jerks the steering wheel very hard from side to side, making it very difficult to stay within your lane. The only way to make the extreme wobble go away is to slow down significantly (<40mph) or sometimes come to a complete stop. A simple internet search and you will find MANY complaints about this with Jeeps, and it is commonly referred to as the "Death Wobble". PLEASE help us consumers put an end to this terrifying issue. I was on my way from Austin to San Antonio (1.5-hour drive) and was almost involved in two accidents because of this. Very few drivers expect for the vehicle they are following behind of to slam on their brakes, which is exactly what I had to do on several occasions to control the wobble. I was almost rear ended on the freeway going 60+ mph on more than one occasion. For the sake of every Jeep owner, AND everyone else on the road, Jeep cannot continue to release vehicles with this well-known defect. My vehicle is currently at the dealership being looked at, but I suspect it will be an issue with the suspension parts, either worn or loose. Either way, not acceptable for a vehicle with this type of mileage. No warning lamps or messages given before the wobble occurs. As mentioned before, you hit one pothole or bump the right way and it starts to wobble very violently.

As I made a left turn I was nearly in a collision as power was not transferred to the drive train as it normally would have been. another 10 miles later my vehicle lost all power to the drive train although the engine was still running. I coasted to the side of the road and turned the vehicle off. I could smell something burning although no flames were evident. I waited a few minutes and restarted the vehicle. I tried shifting gears but the transmission would not engage. I left the vehicle at the side of the road and called the dealership where I purchased the vehicle as well as notifying Jeep Cares (I don’t think so). The vehicle was in the shop for 4 weeks as the clutch had to be replaced as well as some transmission cables which I understand were damaged from the heat generated by the clutch and pressure plate failure. I now understand there was a recall related to a faulty clutch pressure plate system and I am told the fix, a software modification that reduces power to the drive train when excessive heat is detected, was done prior to my purchasing the vehicle new in April 2021. The repairs done to my vehicle were done as a good will gesture according to the dealer but I have no confidence that the same thing will not happen again. Under heavy breaking the rear wheels of my vehicle lifted off of the pavement. This loss of traction and shift in weight resulted in a head on collision with a vehicle in the opposite lane of traffic. After the accident I discover that the suspension for my vehicle was incorrect to the level that FCA released a TSB regarding the issue. The suspension that was equipped with the vehicle was designed for the gasoline motor and the weight associated with that motor. My vehicle has the diesel motor (approximately 600lbs heavier) along with factory equipped steel bumpers adding additional weight. This factory design failure created a vehicle that could not perform as designed and as I found out via an automotive accident, a vehicle that under heavy breaking can lift its rear wheels off of the ground.
