On August 11th, 2023, at approximately 12:50 pm, I drove my 2015 Jeep Cherokee into my houses’ garage and parked. I went inside my house to meet an air conditioning repairman. No sooner than a minute or two had passed that I immediately heard noises coming from my garage. The noises sounded like mechanical in nature. It almost sounded like a washing machine agitating. I opened my side door of the garage and saw a plum of grey smoke billowing from the engine’s hood. Then I saw what looked like sparks and very small flames coming from underneath the front engine. Within a split second, I got into my car and turned on the ignition. I saw no lights on the dashboard indicating that I had a problem. I proceeded to pull the car out of the driveway (the garage door was already up) and exited the car as quickly as I could. Within seconds the flame grew larger. I then called 911 while waiting on the front lawn. I had 2 dogs inside the that I considered were safe. The police came first and then two fire trucks. By that point, the Jeep was completed engulfed in flames including the tires. The fire started in the front of the vehicle and worked its way back. The firemen distinguished the fire which took about 30 minutes from beginning to end. The heat from the fire melted the siding over my two car garage (garage is attached to the house) as well as the siding to right hand side of the home. Glass and debris began to catch fire and pop and spit into the yard. Let me just say that I’m a brea

PTU motor component issue. Jeep will not fix they state I’m out of warranty period. This was recalled for over 70k jeeps but not my vin and now jeep has over 700 on back order in Colorado alone. No one from jeep will assist me with fixing it or a car. They say it could be months! I need help and assistance as I can’t fix it or get the part to fix it. Can’t drive it and there is a safety issue with it on park even and lose power.

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised that the remedy is expected to be available in 2024. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The Jeep Cherokee Latitude suddenly quit running on freeway with no warning. Car would not travel but coasted to a stop. She was lucky no one was close by or the car would have been plowed into from behind. This could have created a chain reaction pile up due to the busy freeway. Car is currently at a dealer and was evaluated for a faulty transmission and needs to be replaced. This was in a Jeep recall a few years ago but supposedly didn't cover my vin, S55. Now, Chrysler is leaving me to deal with their transmission problem. This is a major safety problem as mentioned in their recall.
Last July of 2022, my first issue was an electrical notice that caused the airbag and seatbelt sensor in the vehicle to continuously go off, which took several months to get fixed through the manufacturer of my Jeep Cherokee 2015. As of 2023, I have received two recall notices, and neither of which have been resolved since April of 2023. Since those notices, my check engine light has gone off and is getting repaired this week, there's been a leak inside the vehicle of a liquid spilling into the passenger side floor mat, and also the brakes have deteriorated quickly -- they were last repaired at 77,000 miles and are again experiencing issues at 99,000 miles. There is a specific manufacturer in my area (Salt Lake Valley Chrystler Dodge Jeep RAM on State Street in Salt Lake City, UT) that has been borderline negligent and straight up rude on multiple occasions.

P306 engine light error-Cylinder #6 misfire. This has occurred twice in 20 months. The first repair was 10/6/2021 , mileage 49105. This same error code is now activated (7/22/2023)and my mechanic has indicated the same repair will likely be required. Service appointment is scheduled. Current mileage is ~62000. When this misfire occurs the start/stop system is deactivated, drivability can be impacted, fuel leakage and if unrepaired, significant engine damage could occur.

My 2015 Jeep Cherokee Limited has a parking brake issue. My parking brake will not disengage, the car will not move forward or back, the warning lights are lit up on the dashboard. My Jeep is inoperable due to this issue. This has happened before in parking lots, etc but I was always able to pull over and disengage. That is NOT the case this time as had the car towed to the Jeep Dealership and diagnosed as the parking Brake Module is faulty, the part is back oprdered for months and will cost over $1700 to repair.
While we were driving to the store, the front sunroof popped and then exploded. Glass shards fell onto my husband and myself and the loud bang sounded like a gun.
Service shifter lights up and I have had to replace it multiple times at the dealership since 10k miles. I now have almost 90k and have had this issue at least 6 times. I am annoyed and this is a major safety issue. There is a thread online WITH THOUSANDS of people reporting this issue for Jeep Cherokee. Does someone have to die first for this to be taken seriously?
Lift gate fire hazard recall. Cannot park near cars or in the garage
Shuddering, crank shaft failure, Engine stall, car shifts into emergency brake. Loss of motive power can cause vehicle crash without warning. Vehicle not yet inspected. Similar vehicles with recall under “Safety Recall W58 / NHTSA 20V-475 Loss of Crankshaft Position”
My 2015 Jeep haslocked up on me twice now. The power brake system comes on automatic and I cannot accelerate. The first time it happened it about threw me into the windshield. This second time it jerked me forward. It has been in the dealership once to fix the problem. Now it has done it again. The warning lights come on the dash as power brake system malfunction, check engine soon, do not engage and put vehicle in park and several other warnings.
Recently my service 4WD light came on in June 2023. My 4 WD system is completely unusable. It is deactivated according to system. It was on for a week before I could get into a shop. This has caused my Jeep to get stuck in gravel and spin out when trying to get grip as the system doesn't engage to help. My parking lot at work is gravel so this is a daily occurrence. This renders my Jeep and unusable in bad weather and or adverse conditions. We live in the mountains and not having this available makes it possible of getting stuck and being stuck. Which is a safety hazard for me. I could get hit by passing vehicles or if car ends up going into limp mode it could cause an accident. When I took in to shop/ independent service to have inspected and find out what was going on I was informed it is the PTU system and replacement parts are currently nearly impossible to get as there are backorders and parts are not able to be produced quick enough to meet demand of so many Jeep owners with the same issues. It could be up to a year to get fixed and is incredibly costly. If so many Jeeps are experiencing this same thing then it is a manufactuer issue. Why have they not recalled. I did call Jeep Monroe in Monroe WA and spoke with service and they verified there is a backorder with very long waitlist and no timeline for how long it would take for parts. And that this is a COMMON issue with Jeep right now.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V338000 (Electrical System, Structure) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. Got a recall letter about an electrical shortage May 11.Called the dealer and customer care, both told me that there was nothing they can do about recall as there is no solution; however, my recall cause a serious safety issue as it can start a fire with ignition on or off. Its been almost 60 days no solution; therefore I would like to replace my vehicle as there is nothing they can do to fix it and driving it causes a safety hazard that Im not comfortable putting myself in as I suffer from ptsd from a previous car crash, and deal with anxiety daily so this problem to my vehicle is causing me emotional distress.
POWER TRANSFER UNIT WENT OUT. SERVICE 4WD LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT IN TO A JEEP DEALER TO HAVE THEM FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS GOING OUT
Yesterday, I began experiencing transmission-related issues: rough, delayed or sudden shifting; grinding noise during shifting; harsh engagement of gears; and reduced power when shifting. The ‘Service Shifter’ indicator came on while driving. This is an ongoing transmission issue I have experienced with my 2015 Jeep Cherokee and I believe that this persistent problem is compromising the safety of myself and my passengers.
I received a recall notice from JEEP for "2.4L In-use NOx - catalyst efficiency". When I call the number provided (847) 649-6660, they tell me they don't have the part in stock and to call back in 3 weeks. After months of this repeated process I called JEEP's main customer service number and they basically told me too bad and gave me a bunch of different numbers to call but all of them tell me there's nothing they can do and its possible that I can go to another state or that they might be able to get the parts by December at one of the Illinois locations. I can't make a scheduled appointment or be put on a wait list. These Jeep dealerships are purposely putting people in safety risk because they don't make money doing the recall and are getting away with it by saying "we don't have the parts, call back in a month" knowing people will get frustrated and never get it done.

This has been going on for almost two months and there is no solution?! I have a 2 year old that sits in my back seat and you think I can have her in the vehicle when the back of my car could start fire at any time next to the freaking gas tank?!?!?!?! Take this vehicle back!!!!!!!
The contact's daughter owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving at an unknown speed, the “4WD System Unavailable - Service Required" message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed with a defective power transfer unit. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V343000(Power Train) which she linked to the failure. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and the contact was informed that there were no recalls associated with the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while her mother was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced a sudden loss of motive power and was only able to accelerate up to 25 MPH. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that prior to the failure, the vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed with a catalytic convertor failure. The contact was informed that the catalytic convertor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Transmission has been a problem since purchase. Numerous repairs done without success and finally they replaced the entire transmission. Still had problems. Car has only 93,000 miles on it and now the Power transfer Unit is failing. I understand that it was replaced when they put in the new transmission. Noticed a large number of complaints about PTU on line. Why hasn’t this been recalled? It was in Canada.
Anti skid dash light is on. Won’t turn off. Car is not drivable. Locked up and swerving from side to side
A couple of issues are occurring and this is all over the internet as well and I have decided to file a complaint as this vehicle should be recalled. Most recently the car shuts off while driving and need to coast into the breakdown lane. The transmission shifts very rough as well as this model in addition the engine seems to eat the oil as well. I purchased the vehicle brand new and have consistently gotten oil changes, but a year ago when I brought this vehicle in the dealer advised I had no oil, but I got oil changes every 4-5K miles. I should not need to be pouring oil into the car. This is well known issue all over the internet with this engine. What happens is the car will shut off randomly when driving as a fail sale. In addition most recently the will shut off and there is oil in the engine, but it starts jerking the engine as if it is trying to change gears and then the car loses the ability to accelerate and actually deaccelerate. I have to pull over and the car will not drive. I have to turn the car off and let it sit for a minute or two and then turn it back on. This is highly dangerous as someone can smash into the back of the car while i am driving since the car loses power. I have brought the car in numerous times to the shop over the years due to the transmission/engine failures. This engine/transmission needs to be recalled as these cars should not be on the road. Most recently I brought it back to the dealer and they advised they could not replicate the prob

Electronic emergency brake locked up while reversing, just went on by itself, unable to move car and i couldn’t get it off or get in a gear to move the car at all I had myself and my grandbaby in the car at the time Now the odometer is flashing and the “A” button that would shut engine off at a light, but no warning lights before this incident - a message is showing now “Service emergency brake” along with the icons that go with the emergency brake I called Dodge Service center from my car, no help, just suggested it be towed in -they said never heard of it doing that, has to be looked at Been searching this problem seems I’m not the only one this has happened to
Knocking could lead to engine freeze. Caused by faulty rocker in engine.
2015 Jeep Latitude caught fire in the middle of the night on 03/29/2023 (6 weeks before Jeep's latest recall) with the ignition off, parked in my driveway - no one in it and the ignition had been off for over 3 hours. Fire started under the driver's side tail light INSIDE the framework of the Jeep with the electrical wiring. What is jeep going to do for those of us who have already lost their vehicle because of a Jeep design flaw? (FYI, Stellantis/FCA/Mopar/Jeep are all aware of this situation, and Stellantis reply to me was they would not tell me the cause of why my Jeep caught on fire and offered no solutions to what I was facing - their response to me was barely 3 weeks before they sent out the recall so Stellantis lied from the beginning about the issue and denied all accountability since it happened before they sent the recall even though they had been "investigating" the issue for over a 6 months at least with other Jeeps)
My alternator went out and was replaced and while in doing they said my gear shifter broke and when they tried to replace it that the new one broke too. My parking brake and check engine light are now on and they are not sure why.
The contact's daughter owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while her daughter was attempting to shift gear, the transmission failed to shift in between gear. The parking brake warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who informed the contact that there was water intrusion from the liftgate into the electrical system. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V338000 (Electrical System, Structure). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Parking brake locked and would not release. Issue occurred while driving - luckily at low speed (apx 5mph) while in parking lot. Could not move vehicle since parking brake would not release. Impeded traffic in aisle. I am concerned that this could have happened while driving on surface streets or highway. If so, this would have created a very dangerous situation since the vehicle immediately came to an uncontrolled stop and was immobilized. Could not locate any sort of manual override for releasing brake. Had to have vehicle towed. There were no previous issues with parking brake. Cycled power/start several time to try and reset. No changes. Disconnected battery for 5 minutes to try and reset. No changes. Warning lights/messages included: service parking brake, 4wd system unavailable, start/stop unavailable, brake warning light, abs light, and possibly others. The vehicle is currently at dealership waiting repair (estimated to begin service week of 5/22/23, Nyle Maxwell CDJR, Taylor, TX)
The vehicle lift gate gets stuck, and will not open or close properly via the button. I have to manually close it.
When driving the Jeep and within a speed between 35 and 45 mph at a steady rate, if you accelerate or decelerate, the transmission slams really hard into the next gear or downshifts hard into the next gear which leads to the snapping of your neck as if it was a whiplash affect. We have brought this vehicle in many time for several years and without a code that gets generated and recorded on the Jeeps computer of the issue. We do not know where to turn next as the dealers that had evaluate the jeep viewed and the technicians experienced the symptom that we explained, but they were not able to provide a resolution Under the warranty process without an error code. Having people in the Jeep and when it downshift or upshift the transmission slams into gear have been getting startled as if someone hit us from behind and we have had neck pains from this result. We are very concerned that if the downshifting or up shifting that slams into gear may result in a transmission failure while we are on the road and will have no control of our vehicle and could lead to a major accident as we could be stuck in the middle of a road with heavy traffic.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the while driving at approximately 60 MPH, she heard a loud explosion sound and the vehicle slightly lifted off the ground. The contact then stated that she was able to veer the vehicle off the exit while decelerating to approximately 40 MPH. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transfer case had exploded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transfer case failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was provided a case number, but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 90,140.
Car will shut down on the free way. Car will go 65 MPH and suddenly give out. The car will be on but the engine will be off. Car will turn off anywhere at any time. I bought a new PCM and issue is still occurring. Car is in great condition but won’t start properly and feel scared for my life when I have to drive it.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was towed to the residence and then to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the PCM needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.
1 - Two piece lug bolts, swollen due to poor design, causing unsafe conditions rendering OEM provided tools unusable to conduct emergency roadside tire change/repair. 2 - UCONNECT emergency vehicle connectivity not maintained by manufacturer after 3G network retired, rendering installed safety equipment inoperable.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated the parking brake failed to disengage as needed. The contact stated the failure to release, and the service parking brake warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,246.
Jeep transmission jerks, doesn't shift when its supposed to, and when I give it regular pressure gas, and I drive slow, it will not shift and then suddenly shift causing a jerk. I never can depend on the vehicle and even don't make left hand turns unless there is a traffic light because I'm afraid the Jeep won't pull out in time and I'll get hit by another car.
Vehicle emits a loud thug/clunk when driving at lower speeds and gears shifting. No other Jeeps I have owned have done this. They will not look into whether or not it is the Transmission or PTU issue. This is a known issue for 2014-2015 Jeep Cherokees. There needs to be a recall. Vehicle has less than 90k miles. Have been advised by Jeep dealership that "jeeps are supposed to do that".
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle it displayed a message stating “Service Parking Brake”. After stopping the vehicle and placing it in parking, the parking brake engaged itself and would not release, rendering the vehicle undrivable. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the electronic parking brake had malfunctioned due to water contamination. All recalls have been performed and are up to date. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
